More videos like this! Quick tips and strategies are more beneficial to me than watching longer playthrough videos.
I think you played this well because it could lead to your opponent continuing to work towards the 8 building region and missing out on other potential points. If they knew that large region was going to be impossible, they might have pivoted to a new strategy and taken tiles that you wanted and earned more points.

Thank you! Yeah giving up the Watchtower was a hard decision and probably a risky one but it paid off. I wanted my opponent to believe that they still had a chance at the region of 8 so they don’t take away animals or other tiles I need.

@@strategymeeples Good decision! As a general rule of thumb, you don't want to block tiles before Phase E begins for the reasons mentioned above. The most common, but still rare exception, is probably blocking the 12th ship in D or even blocking a ship before Phase D (ultra rare). Especially if it costs us 0 workers. It's essentially + 1 ship for us when we just discard it.
Most often you don't even have to worry about blocking the size 8 city in E, as you would win anyways. That's especially the case, when you win the castles, ships and animals.
But it's a nice option to have to block the other city in E.
The reason why the size 8 city is usually so weak scoring wise, is that you can't get too many points from yellow points per building tiles, but way more importantly the city has very awkward numbers and all these numbers are in a straight line. It's just too expensive to build on. If you compare this size 8 city with the size 7 city on board 7, you will see that this city here needs waaay more actions to complete, because of the horrendous worker costs. Let's don't forget how expensive it is to grab a building you depsperately need sometimes as well. With Yellow Tile 1 in Phase A or B, this board becomes extremely strong for buildings and yellows though and pretty much unbeatable for the non Y1 player, if both players play on the same level.
      Well done, Kapil!

@@Pistol_Star Thank you, Johannes! You make some great points here. Going for that city region of 8 is highly inefficient in most games. I had a recent game on this board where I ended up getting Y1 in Phase C and I completely pivoted to completing my buildings instead. Worked out since my opponent was starting to pickup some early animals.
