Only an episode of the Young Ones will you see a Molotov cocktail destroying half the house, a talking toilet, Madness playing in the street and Neil's parents chatting to an escaped criminal madman. Classic TV, sadly never again.

30+ years later and I still find ‘The Young Ones’ bloody funny !!! It was the exact time I was going to university so the stereotypes were really poignant !! .....RIP Rick Mayall. A very clever and funny man who brought us lots of humour and laughs with friends!!.
Excellent show but when you go to college or university and meet your first rik its even funnier the peoples poet is dead!

Ive been watching the Young Ones since 6th grade. Its an amazing show.
I love how Madness is just randomly playing "Our House" outside… then they get caught up in the street riot.
It's exactly that kind of communal street life that the high-rise blocks are destroying!
Wish they'd play outside my house.
And then they run away when the police show up!

There was to be an American remake with Nigel the only original cast member involved. Luckily for him, and me, and life as we know it, it fell through.

Best comedy of the 80s
British Comedy UK - absolutely!! Im from US and loved this show when i was a kid in the early 80's. It use to come on Saturday nights at 11, followed by Dr.Who. tv sucks now.

Has anyone found the "Fifth Roommate" in these episodes? In most of the episodes, there was a fifth room mate, a woman with long hair whose face is never shown (like the girl from the ring, or cousin It from the Adams Family.) She's in the background and has no dialog, easy to miss.
I think i've seen the entire show about a 1000 times AND I NEVER KNEW ABOUT THAT?

Even comedies have continuity this is just disgraceful form of adhd writing i mean are we not to take that hitman seriously as if he would forget about his holding them to ransom and replace it to be a slave to clean up the place for some hippies parents he was about to kill minutes before. & then at the end the 3 zombie Neil's quickly finished that plot and onto a show hosted by neils fucking parents again and the hitman the whole thing was fucking ridiculous and didnt even make sense for a comedy. At least Bottom had continuity and they got their shit together by that time but here it was written by Ricks girlfriend full of plotholes which never made sense.
