I dont think introversion necessarily means being quiet / not social / awkward. I know that I, for one, am an introvert but also love meeting new people and forming new connections! I feel like being introverted means to get your energy from time on your own whereas being extroverted means to get your energy from other people - I hope this all made sense hehe x
this is literally my favorite series im always looking forward for it!! i can definitely see you doing a podcast in the future. but for now, ill be waiting 😜
What I learned about social anxiety is learning how to build a tolerance to anxiety & push yourself to get out of your comfort zone sometimes to grow as a person & don’t let anxiety ever hold you back! You’re capable of more then you know believe in yourself even w/anxiety, you can do it 💪
i love this vid!! I've always had a ton of social anxiety and recently started putting myself in different social situations to learn how to navigate them. I'm still working on the open-ended questions and feeling more confident about myself. I tend to revert to talking about myself when I get particularly anxious lol. Anyway, thank u for this !
So nice to hear you talk about this kind of thing. I was just talking to my friend the other day about how I always think I'm quiet, but when I bring this up to other people they go "Uhhh what? Definitely not." But I always have that inner dialogue that's stressing tf out about what to say and what people are thinking of me
I don’t know how I feel about this topic. I’m also an introvert but I’m constantly torn between wanting to be more extroverted and wanting to just be myself. I recently read “Quiet” by Susan Cain and it had me re-thinking how I view the whole topic all together-definitely check it out if you haven’t already.
Shelby I feel like if you genuinely don’t have the desire to be different from your genuine self, then you shouldn’t change. I just always disliked that part of me so I decided to alter that. But I’m even more FOR the idea that people are comfortable being their shy, quiet selves! ❤️
mina0n yeah I’m neither shy nor anti-social but I’m definitely an introvert in that I need time by myself to function and I’m hyper sensitive towards my surroundings but I also can be pretty outgoing....I do wish she would do more research but I understand her mind thought on the issue
Hi, I stated throughout the video several times that I am very outgoing and friendly, yet I am still introverted, because I feel drained by doing so. This video is just about my tips on how to be social- I'm not trying to educate others on their intra/extra tendencies, just talking about my own personal experience! Hope this makes sense. Also if you feel that I'm uneducated, I'm always more than open to learning more! :-)
There's nothing better than planning out my week with my cute lil stationary, grabbing a hot cup of tea and watching AM with amy! I love you, keep going girl!
Ooo there's a good TedTalk, by Amy Cuddy, but her motto was "Fake it Until You BECOME IT." And it has helped me immensely with my mindset and making myself more aware of challenging mand pushing myself past my comfort zone to become the self that I aspire to be!
Another relevant topic to talk about. I’ve always struggled with social anxiety up until today. It’s very difficult for me to feel confident when I talk in front of new people and this will definitely help me cope up wih my struggle. I’ve always admired your series. Keep doing more of these Amy! 🍒
Amy I loved this so so so so much~ I agree with everything you said! When I began university far away from my hometown I told myself to say something to one new person each day; and slowly I became more social, I got to know good people, and had some great opportunities. I still think it is hard to go up and have a conversation sometimes because I don't know what to talk about, but I have started to keep a list of questions that I can always use to start a conversation. This AM really reminded me about how far I have come in 4 years, and how I can make being social come more natural and unnerving! Thank you~
I believe in faking it till you make it haha, it's literally what I did in high school. Like a creeper, I observed how my favorite extroverted people would interact with the world--especially with authority figures, with strangers--and would try to mentally embody them while in similar situations. Now, although I may internally squirm, I feel more adept at handling these situations. I love being a quiet, introverted person; but, sometimes, you have to project a confidence and extroversion you might not own/have.
Amy, you honestly helped me so much to grow mentally. I love when beauty contents UA-camrs also talk about life, emotion and mental because that's associated with inner beauty and even more important than outer beauty in my opinion. Thank you for sharing these contents and I hope you keep up your work!! :)
Amy, you've helped me so much in my life! I binge watched this whole series and was waiting for this episode! You have incredible wisdom and are an amazing unnie
my goshhhh I can't help but writing comments!!! I became a fan of yours recently after watching a couple of your videos. I adore all the insights you give me through the videos and these really help me have a better mind set!! Thank you so much, love ya!!!
thanks for all the helpful tips, amy! i'm in my final year at ucla and i've been feeling a lot of regret because i feel like i'm too introverted and haven't taken advantage of the social scene enough here and now it's too late, but this video was comforting to listen to! btw, i've also seen you before at bplate but was too shy to say hi hahaha
i love the idea of envisioning your perfect self in certain situations! i've never thought about it this way. thanks for the amazing advice as always, amy!
This has been literally the second or third time I've had something on my mind and then Amy made an "AM with Amy" video about the topic. I was talking to a close friend about how to be more sociable the other day. lol Thanks Amy! I really enjoy these!~
Amy, you have become one of my ultimate favorite youtubers this year (fellow aquarian sista!!!!) You are so intelligent and have such a great heart. Love getting content from you :))
I'm that extroverted introvert too. I used to practice different conversations/scenarios in my head to make it easier when those nervous situations happen. After awhile those conversations just came naturally instead of being semi-rehearsed.
A fellow INTJ here! I found myself using the exact same process in dealing with becoming more sociable, and I've to say, it has been a long way since then. Love the video!
I love this series and look forward to it! I too am an introvert- i’m an INFP. Annd guuuuurllll can you please start putting the nail polish color you’re wearing in the video? Thanks! :)
Dude Amy, this video came out on perfect timing. I just started a new job and I realllyyy want to socialize with people but find myself not wanting to butt into conversations and can't find the courage to go up to people. And I don't know how to start a convo either. At every new place I go to I tell myself to pretend to be extroverted cause they don't know me! But I always end up being too shy T_T
Before watching your video I ordered the yes please palette and after watching you use it I am glad that I ordered it. It looks so beautiful on you. Anyway I love your Am with Amy series, I can listen you talk for hours. I have applied some of the advice from your past videos and I hope to continue doing so
I always get ready with you when you have these videos out and I screamed when you pulled out the color pop palette because I had the same one out omg 🤗🤗
Thanks I love you 💛 I feel amazingly confident. Then lately i was feeling so actually afraid to be myself ? My own self. But I know we're all beautiful , gifted , talented , worthy , fun af and great 💛 We can become extroverted or at least fake it while being confident inside ✨ GOD bless and protect you all !! Amen.
안녕 Amy! I love your style and enjoy your AM episodes. I recently moved to Michigan from South Korea 3 months ago and I haven't made any friends yet. I met a bunch of people and of course, my social anxiety was trying to show herself out of me. It was before I listened to this episode and I was just smiling all time and at the same time, I was worrying if people thought me a weirdo smiling all the time. lol But now I feel kind of better to hear from you that smiling is okay. I mean, I don't want to put too much authority to your word like heretic religion lol but your words make me so much comfortable now. :) Thanks and looking forward new episode! XOXO
thank you so much Amy for your insight and wisdom. I learn a lot from you and admire the way you are able to voice your opinions. again, like always, I am continuously loving these series and am always taking your advice to heart as if you're talking to me as a personal friend
HY ah I’m so happy to hear this! Genuinely means the world to me, if my content could help out ONE person. Thank you for listening and for supporting me ❤️
i hope one day i get to meet you & we just have a long conversation about life... i'd probably get nervous around you but still! that's definitely my dream ・ᴗ・ love you Amy
Hi Amy! Love your Am w Amy vidayoooos~~ its so nice to have someone talk abt all these stuff. 😊😊 btw u look like a superhero w that makeup look 😆😆 my heroo~~ 😍😍 hahaha I like the advice u gave abt the modelling part where u envision yourself to be someone who want to be and act according to how that person would do it. It make u feel like u are alr taking steps to becoming this person that you want to be! This video really kind of awakened or cheered me up. As i dont know why but i have been feeling really blue and down in sch completely opp of who i was when i entered uni. /: i have become more afraid of ppl in sch even tho i have nvr talked to them before /: but now i have some sort of direction as to where i wann to go and what im gonna do! Thanks a lot amy! 😊😄 love you ❤
Love this so much, this was very helpful for me because I’m going to be moving from So Cal to Chicago in a couple of months and I know I’m going to need to make friends there or not I’m going to be miserable.
This video was so inspiring and helpful!! I will try to implement your idea of going out of your comfort zone in my daily life, which im already doing by leaving a comment on this video
Putting yourself in a social situation that puts you out of your confort zone once a week Learn to be a better conversationalist Envision the perfect version of you and how they would handle certain situations or how do you wish you could handle certain situations and do it Other people feel the same if not worse , be proud of yourself for trying and not being stagnated, dont be so hard on yourself and dont overthink
Good morning Amy! I absolutely love this series. I am definitely more outgoing but i do feel the need to be alone more often so i guess i’m both? Lol i’m a chameleon
Omg this video would have been perfect for last Friday night lol. I’ve been on journey to meet more people and be more social. So I went to a birthday/ blog anniversary of someone I met for the first time 3 weeks prior. I went by myself and, knew no one there, I barely knew the host lol. Unfortunately I got intimidated by the large crowd of people that all seemed to already know each other, and ended up staying glued to the bar where I chugged 2 tall glasses of ice water (contemplated a third) ended up on social media, then after less than an hour, I left because my energy level was at E due to my mind running a thousand miles a minute 🙈 then I spent the rest of the night trying not to beat myself up about it lol
Thanks for this video. I struggle with meeting new people because of my anxiety. :) On a side note, if you dont mind saying, what are the brushes you used here?
just curious but is having social anxeity the only thing you connect with being an introvert? Because I am an introvert by the explanation that I get energy from being alone and I spend it all on being social a.k.a i get super tired from being social and i feel like i empty myself everyday. Have you ever felt the same? how do you cope with energy and where do you get it from?

Advice is too real and relatable how are you so wise
IKR? Its like she has everything figured out lol so wise
