Thanks for watching Planet Roller Skaters! What was the most helpful tip for you in this video? Let me know below :D
That tip if keeping your weight on the outside foot was so helpful! Im usualy fine carving one way, but when I tried to go my least fave way, I kept on wiping out. These episodes are always so helpful!! 💙🤩
Ahhh yesss this makes sense. Happy to help :D
OMG I REQUESTED THIS VID
Thx Indy
Thank you so much for making this video!! ❤️ I just can't seem to carve correctly. Thank you!
My favorite of your tips that I will try next:
1. Use your whole shoulder to direct yourself
2. Look far ahead at where you’re going
3. Try stuff for technique but then use your own style.
Thanks Indy! I really get a lot out of your videos. It’s clear you love teaching and you put a lot of work into creating good quality content ✌️
Can your next video be on how to get out of a bowl? I always get stuck in them : (
She has that in her first time at the skate park video. :)
@@ambercecil4997 Oh okay! Thank you 😊
Get some speed up, running or skating straight at the edge of the bowl. Let your momentum carry you up the transition a little and then run up on your toe stops. Then plant your hands onto the deck and pull up and out!
Allison ASMR just making sure, ur out of the bowl now rigtj?
Aww Ish okie xD
You are the best teacher ever!! Thank you so much!! 👊👊👊
Love the spongebob reference she used for this lesson 🌈✨
is it just me who thinks indys skates look really clean
They are fresh!
That's what happens when you don't fall over? 😂
No it’s not just you they do look really clean 😂
Ye
Another awesome tutorial with a lot of helpful tips. My top ah-ha moments: to keep weight on outside foot despite which leg is first, keeping eye on next target, and stretching forward with open shoulders. I can't wait for more ramp tutorials!
Inside foot meaning closest to the wall?
@@ingenuehairlashesbyngozi7996 *Outside* foot, which would be the one opposite the direction of travel. So, if you're carving to the left then the right foot bears the weight, and if you're carving right it would be the left foot. For me this explained why I'm most comfortable carving left, b/c I'm more comfortable using my right leg most of the time whereas carving to the right requires that I rely on my weakest (left) leg, which feels unstable to me.
That skate park looks amazing! Huge!
I've just started playing roller derby, I'm a few months in, 110% sucking at crossovers, but loving it anyways.. I'm going out to buy outdoor wheels next week, so I can skate outside.. just to skate as much as possible. I'm in love.
ElectriKitty 78a is THE durometer measurement for outdoor wheels -I skated over 375 miles last summer, trying many different wheels. Atom Poison and kryptonic Route 70’s are fantastic, but get just a few sizes over your derby wheels so there’s not a big speed difference.
Keeping your dominant leg forward when carving either way and just shifting weight, and head where you want to go while pushing shoulders forward!! Both key for me and so helpful!!
What an awesome human being. Thank you so much to share your love with the world. It's contagious
Dawwwww thank you :D
Can you make a video on how to do different breaks (toe stop breaks, t-stop and any others )
I go over them in episode 2, but I plan to do a detailed video soon :)
Awesome
Favorite tip: really stretching and leading through your arms and with your head. I definitely have been “derby turning.”
I totally LOVED the whole thing. I think what I found most helpful was the idea of using your arms to really move or lean into the carve.
I also liked that you pointed out that derby leg thing because I’m pretty sure I’m doing it at least some of the time.
Hoping to get my skates soon
Same
This helps so much, thank you!! On another video could you have each Moxi skate member explain why they got into skating, how long they’ve been skating and how they ended up with Moxi?! I know it would be long but it could be a “special edition” episode? I’m really hoping you can do something similar because I’m very interested in everyone’s story! Thank you for these episodes and the effort and energy you put in them💕 hope to thank you in person one day!
Please make more videos with pigeon and estro
Indy! Because of you and all the other beautiful ladies i bought skates. I first practised inside my house, stopping, falling, turning. Today i went outside for the first time, into nature. I had so much fun, feels like freedom and happiness. I am a total beginner so just cruise around, when i keep skating i will buy moxi some day. Thank you Indy, i have been binging all the episodes. You are such a gem!
I just got some roller skates for my birthday on Monday, and I’ve been trying to learn all around my neighborhood! I’ve been learning some new tricks with your help! Thank you Indy!!
I actually just went to the park and practiced carving this morning, great tutorial as always!! 💜💙💖
Yayyy I hope it helped!
INDY JAMMA JONES It really did, I’m going to the park again tomorrow so thanks for all the inspiration!
Thank you, Indy! I don't have roller skates (YET) but I am inspired by your videos and other skaters' Instagrams.
Hadn't rollerskated since 1986 and just started back Christmas trying to teach my kids how and I've learned so much from just a couple of your videos. Thanks you for making these tutorials you are great! Hope 1 day I can do everything you can and more!
I'm so excited because I'm getting roller skates soon!!! Not Moxis 😫 but the Moxi Lollies will always be my dream skates. I'm so pumped!!
Update: I just ordered the skates!!
Anything that rolls will work! Of course it's always nice to dream :D
Update: I just ordered the skates!!
I’ve been waiting FOREVER for your version of how to carve. I love you!! Thanks so much, Indie!! ✨🤗👏
This is what I need to practice.. I always seem to lose speed
Let me know if it helps! Try to keep pushing your feet through the concrete :D
Thanks again, Indy, for another great tutorial. I have been having trouble with carving but I feel like you've given me a head start for the next time I go. While there was so much helpful information in your video, I think the light bulb moment for me was when you said, "Push the concrete away (pump) or let your skates come up to you (absorb)". I had always had trouble doing good pumps (mainly the backwards to forwards pump) because it all looks the same to me! But I think I've got it now. Thank you for taking the time to make these videos.
Thanks Indy this was super helpful, been keeping my shoulders too far back and i kinda feel top heavy so to speak.... Can you please do an ep on "getting up on toe stop's and running into rolling"
Can you do a tutorial just on stopping i'm used to inlines, which have breaks on the back. And going forward and using toestop just makes me fall alot. So maybe how we can get to the point where i have that balance or easier ways to stop.
Yes this is actually at the top of my tutorials list.
yess i'm already looking forward to it
Most likely, you're pushing too hard (which can also lead to strained, sprained, twisted, or broken ankles)...she does have a "How to stop fast" video that might help, along with "How to turn on roller skates" which I'd actually suggest watching first. Toe stops on roller skates are safer if you're going backwards. That said, they do have a "back break" you can put on roller skates until you're more used to them...but it can sometimes make it harder to learn how to stop properly on quads because you get too dependent on it.
I Love your Videos! I learned so much with your Tutorials...more Please!!!😁😁😁 What lable is your Protection?...the leoprint is gorgeous!😍😍😍
Thanks so much! I am wearing the Smith Leopard Pad set, you can get it from our online shop here - planetrollerskate.shop/collections/safety-gear
Yes! I've been waiting for this one! I haven't even been to the skate park yet but I'm so excited!!
Yesss I was waiting for this episode to come! It's sooo helpful I will go to the skatepark tomorrow to practise thisss! Thank you so much Indy!
She makes it look so easy 😫
yay thank you!! my goal this weekend at the park was to work on carving and now i can refer back to this video!
Woahhh what timing! Let me know how it goes :)
I come from derby too and I think the ‘derby leg’ is my issue with learning to carve. This is super helpful, thank you!
I loved this one! I really need to practice carving, i found really helpful when you talked about de legs and arms positions, I need to lower my body and have more control of my position and look where I am going! xD Thank you!
You are awesome!!
wow ive never played derby but this is exactly the reason i cant figure out carving, thank you!!!! cant wait not to feel that jerking.
the bowls at my park are really steep what do i do
Thank you for making this video! I am watching this at the skatepark right now and I can do everything...except carve. (Weird right) This really helped me. Thanks Indy!
Not weird! Haha that's why I made this. Happy skating :)
@@INDYJAMMAJONES Thanks, happy skating to you, too 😁
YESSS NEW EPISODE
Your vids have helped me so much and are still helping me!!
Keep up the amaxing work Indy! Love ya ❤❤❤
The most helpful was to drop and push. I don't have bowl around my town well, when I have one, I know what to do without losing time, thanks to you
Yess glad you found that tip helpful! Thanks so much :)
That intro got me so pumped lmao xD
Draw a rainbow! Use your imagination xD
Thank you for all the great videos and the inspiration. I actually startet skating because of you and all the other skaters on UA-cam.
I’m might get my skates soon
And I’ve been watching all your vids since episode 2 so all this will be very helpful
Yesssss I hope you love them :D
Indy’s the reason I got roller skates
Lysm Indy!! 💕
Once again another great tutorial! Did I hear correctly through the grapevine that you might be coming to Dubai? That would be amazing! I've said it before but you are such a good coach/teacher. My favorite tip was to aim for the top/coping near the middle of each straight section. Keep up the great vids!
I will never attempt anything like this bc I will die, I'm just here to watch you skate and enjoying every second. 🍿
2:45 😂 I do that all the time lol
I'm so happy that I found your channel I have learned how to skate from you! And my next pair of skates will defiantly be moxi lollies! Thank you so much for putting in all these efforts for us!!!
Awesome training video! Thanks!
Really cool! When I feel confident enough to skate on parks I will try this
Used your video and went from never carving to going about half way up a small bowl in one day! Thanks!
I see you keep your left foot in front when you are going either direction. If you don't switch your stagger, do you still keep the weight on the back foot regardless of direction? Like, if you are carving right, but have your left foot leading, are you still carrying your weight on the right foot?
I really wish I had a pair of moxi skates but I live in the UK and I can't find any in £
they sell them on the skate hut website, also shipped and sent from the uk I might be getting some when I have enough money, I'm 12 lol
Awesome video! Thanks for all the tips. Could you do a video about the different skate setups you've used (i.e.: boots, wheels, plates, toe stops, etc.)? In your various videos you mention different items in passing (Red Radar Energy wheels, Chaya short-stem toe stops) and I'm wondering if you'd be able to do a vid basically just talking about all the different setups you use. Lately I've found myself re-watching your old videos to try and get a good look at what you're skating on, haha! Keep up the good work.
My brother has a stunt scooter and he wanted to learn some tricks, so we went to unit 23 skate park in Glasgow and I got stuck in this giant pit 😂
You make bowl skating look so easy!
❤ this video helps me so much. I have tried to see if you have done a turn video on ramp but cannot find it. Could you please 🥺 help???
Love you guys so much
Dawwww
Your tutorials are incredibly good and helpful!!! Thank you ❤️❤️❤️
She’s the Indiana Jones of roller skating
Can you please do a video about the transition from going forward and then quickly switching and going backwards? Been having trouble with it lately
your tutorials are so good!! you explain things really well!
Still waiting for that candi girl roller skate review!!!
Next,Can you make a video on going over spines? Also love how you taught how to absorb your crave 💖
Hmmm good idea... I'll have to find a nice little spine :P
I wish I could skate with you. Your videos are great
Can you do more dancing on rollerskates? I am amazed by you guys💙💙💙💙
Aww, that vid was really helpful. I'm just starting to get into skate parks and I thought I won't be able to carve to the right because of my dominant left leg from derby but this vid really helps and I can't wait to try your tips out soon! ^_^
What protective pads do you use?
Yeah ! Thanks for this vidéo 🤘😁... I look forward to trying carve in the right way 😊
Got my first moxi lollys! Best tip was abt how you lead with your left. I lead with my right and can only carve to the left because I thought I had to lead with my right the other way
When I first learned how to pump I neglected pushing up at the base of the ramp and only pushing to force myself down, and I think that’ll also apply to carving 🤦🏽♀️😂
Ummm...
This is a bit advanced... back to pumping for me!😂❤
You can stay low and take it slow! It helps to learn at the same time you are learning to pump :)
@@INDYJAMMAJONES oh yeah! It's kinda similar I guess! ❤
It was so weird to see Indy without her skates on in the opening clip
Hey I love you're videos sm they are always helpful! I noticed you mentioned about the 180 turns on a ramp but never really got into it. Could you maybe do a video about doing 180s on the ramp? I've been working on them in the bowl but they're kinda scary lol :) tysm for all your help and for getting me I to rollerskating! Its literally changed my life 💖
Omg I have skating for a couple weeks now and I can do 360's. You helped me so much! I have a ledge at my park that I ride on. In my area there aren't any large skateparks.I just ordered Moxi beach bunnies and i cannot wait for them to get here. Also can you do a video of good helmets to wear. Thanks a lot! C:
This video is perfect! Thanks Indy :)
Hey!
I’m (a kid) getting impala skates from planet roller skate for my birthday, are the impala skates good or bad?
Please answer!
Mackbook Diaries comes to life there rlly good skates
Cool Oh thanks so much!
Oh my God! *-* I am so happy I am watching a video that is recent. ♡ Indy, I loOoOoOve youUUuU
I love all your tutorials! What wheels do you think are best for skateparks?
I hope Indy can go back to CA 🥺🥺
How did you get into the bowl ?
Gracias por este video, thanks for this video
Saludos desde España,greetings from Spain
Woww!!! Love this tutorial! Where is this park? Grettings from Argentina
I tried it on little tiny raps at base skate!
What if you have a power blade skate??
Hi, great lesson there, do you have any instruction video on pumping fakie in a bowl?
Just look where you are going, looking over the shoulder of the foot that is behind you.
Will there be a 180 turn tutorial?
Hey Indy! Such a helpful tutorial. When you skate a fish bowl shaped bowl is the technique the same? Like, do you still aim for 3 high points as if there's straightaways? Thanks 💜
how do you keep your feet together?
In your vidio how to roller skate, I got ajustible roller skates and i learned how to roller skate in like 3 minutes!!!😚
Hi I am a little girl named Marley and I play junior roller derby my team is called Duval roller skaters and my name in Derby is scared. I love skating and I am very good on wheels 2
Not scared skater tot
Omg I have the exact same black boots as Indy I have something in common with Indy JCMDKSDM3XKMDKSKSMSKWKW
YASS TO SPONGEBOB!!!!! I cant wait to start practicing these techniques. :)
can you do a video at a skate park with roller blades?????
And here’s me over here trying to figure out how to stop without falling 😂
I was there yesterday!
I likin your energy🌞👅🌻🍃
Im doing the derby leg and i cant stop help
i’ve been skating since i was 10 (7 years) on and off so when i get back into skating i’m always really self conscious. i try to learn new things but i’m terrified of falling and i don’t want to look like a child wearing safety pads
