I did it! I did it! I could finally do it this morning. The turns weren’t high or daring but they felt “right”. I finally got the arms/shoulder thing happening. I’m so stoked. Thanks, Deborah!
JUST started going to the skate park after a lifetime of rollerblading and recently learning quad skating- safe to say I’ve found my new passion in life! Please keep these park focused videos coming!! ❤️
I can’t stress enough how thankful I’m for these videos. It was my 3rd time at the skate park today and I did it! What a battle with fear it was and but at the end of the day I feel confidence boost. Learning with you is much easier. Even for 41 years old. Thank you! ❤
The head (and eyes) make a big difference. That's what I discovered when I was figure skating, how your head and your hips power up your turn. Now I need to apply it to park skating! Thanks for the tips.
Dirty School of Skate it’s taken me since last year to pluck up the courage after badly breaking my ankle roller skating! I still can’t quite believe I did it! ☺️
I was SO not prepared for that Zero G last week...but it was AWESOME! Never fell, but wasn't there long. Can't wait to get back to the park!!!! :) Hope I'll be there longer next time....and maybe get some good video.
“Let’s review. Step 1 - find somebody who has a ramp”😂😂😂😂 also, yes my snack area needs snacks, now that you mention snacks... thank you for the video!
Hi from 🇦🇺. Thankyou so much for your ramp video's. They helped me fix my turns and my balance coming back down fakie. I was finally able to drop in off the coping yesterday!
You are awesome!! I’m on blades and nobody wants to talk about which foot forward. I started doing outside foot forward cause I couldn’t figure out inside foot forward. Time to knock off that bad habit. One of the best and most entertaining skate tut vids I’ve seen in awhile, gonna get some snacks 😆
This video came just on time! I went to the skate park for the first time two days ago, and I struggled with turning on ramps. I know realize I was trying to lead with the opposite foot. Right foot in front turning left 🤦🏻♀️ thanks Deb 🥰
Another video full of tips and tricks that's really helping me to understand why my right turns work, and my left turns fail miserably. Among other things, I think I'm not weighting the back leg enough - it's more 50/50. I plan to start working on my weak side as soon as we can breathe the air around here again.
UPDATE: I finally got to try your technique when making my weaker left turns on the ramp yesterday, and it WORKED! Immediate improvement! Thanks for making that video!
I bought my first pair of roller skates 1 month ago, and I'm so, SO thankful for your channel Deborah 🥰❤️ Ive been hitting the skate parks every day I can with a new video tutorial from you to work on (and now people think Ive been skating for longer than I really have!)
DEBBBBBBBBBBB omg this is perfect timing!!! Ok, so, I got my "good' foot side down pat and am pretty comfortable turning that way BUT on my "weak" foot side I'm having trouble getting my back foot to follow my front foot around the turn and keep going into the splits! YIKES!!! Any suggestions on getting my weak side back foot to get with the program?!?!?!? Thank you!!! Much Love
I LOVE YOU . You are my saviour , here in my city there's no skating classes, it's really sad because I'm in love with every kind of skating since I was 5 and I am learning a LOT with you 🤯
Haha totally know how I was making some turns completely awkward and not natural ..leading with that wrong foot, oh thank you! Love the "snacks" and whipped cream is my favourite with coffee, thanks Dirty!! 😍
Thank you again. I mean, I turned but it was so uncomfortable and sloppy. I realized real quick that I needed to see the 1st video, lbs. Practicing that now!!!
Been doing opposite foot activities to try and make sure one isn't too much weaker than the other... I spend more time trying to bring my other foot up to speed than actually learning anything new... I figure... eventually... it'll be worth it. 2 years and my non-dominant foot STILL sucks ass and I fall over...
Love you Dirty!! Thank you for these ramp series, could you make another one for dropping in? 🥺 my legs still get jelly when i have my skates on the coping
Post Skate Park after watching your video this morning: I managed to do some wide, shallow carves/turns but not the tight ones you do in your video. Watching your video again, I think I was just swinging my arms about and it wasn’t helping so I gave up on the arms thing. I see now that the arm movement is really to pull my shoulder around? Is that right? Anyway, I felt it was developing, so thanks again, Deborah. And, yes, I had loads of fun.
Much love from Denmark, Europe! I just started going to an indoors skatepark and doing ramps and this video has been soo informative! Can’t wait to try the turns when the lockdown is over 😁 also Deb is hilarious❤️ I wanna have snacks now
It's funny I never realized I just carve without thinking about it, until you mentioned this. I do this on the driveway, and I think I tried the opposite foot, and it even felt as awkward as it looks!!!
WOW! I’ve been 100% guilty of turning with the wrong foot forward and have never been able to put a finger on what’s wrong until this video... Thank you!
I have seen plenty of skaters go with the "crossing foot" but they manage to skate the hell out of all sorts of parks. I just think it is more beneficial in the long run to go with body mechanics that are natural.
Okay, so I’m back today from the skatepark. Trying to turn with the correct foot in front made me realize that I don’t usually have enough weight on my back foot (hip not sticking out!!) - I practiced rolling around with as best stance as possible learned from this vid and wow it felt like I had so much more control; crazy how little adjustments to the body make a big difference. Thanks for all your videos, they are so helpful! :-)
Thanks for the video, Deborah. We are heading to the skate park now. I can do a few things in the skate park and love it, but have never been able to turn, so half of what I do in the park is backwards! I want to turn and carve so much. Will I get it this morning after your tutorial? I’ll let you know!
Not the whipped cream Lord! 🤣👏🏾 I honestly have a hard time remembering my snack area. Haha from now on I shall say “Go snacks Go! SNACKS! ACTIVATE!” 🤣👏🏾 such fun ways to remember things. I’m no where near park skating but the more I see it the more I set that as a future goal.
Love you, love the vids, so miss skating FVSC on the odd Monday, for the record. Any thought on grease packing bearings for outdoor skating? I'm on alot of beaches and tennis courts lately.
The dominant turning definitely will help with carving in bowls, however with a right dominant leg I would really like to know how to turn “goofy” or transition left quickly without changing my stance. I have done it once and it involves a hop, but I’d like a technical and safe description.
Hi can any one please tell me if you can do ramp skating with states that have a heel or do the have to be flat ? as I am thinking about giving it a try but I only have the skates with a heel
You can do it with speed/derby or artistic/rhythm skates. Whichever you're comfortable in. I brought both last time, but never changed out of my speed boots to feel the difference. Wasn't there long, though so...maybe next time I'll try my Candi Girls.
Dirty! Shirts! Sell them in the ribbon under your video. I have attended enough classes- I need the dirty school of skate shirt to rep you while I’m cruising around town using your tips!
Hey dirty! I’m a BIG fan! Been training hard for about 3 months now and your videos have helped me every step of the way. I just wanted to ask if it was cool with you if I comment to people trying to learn “don’t quit before the miracle happens “ that’s something I’ve heard you say and I totally stole it from you. I’d just feel better with your okay about it. Thank you for being you and I love your videos, I always learn the most from you. Thank you!
Dirty School of Skate Awesome! I have done so already, it worked and I’m gunna keep sharing the skating love and lessons! Thanks again, you seriously rock!
I can’t grasp the turns on flat surface that you were showing starting at the 4:30 mark 😭 can you go more into detail as to where weight is on the back foot? If it is more on the back wheels or front wheels?
Hey Deborah 😊😊 I just want to say that watching your videos makes me SUPER excited to go to my first rink next week! I'll be using rentals until I can get my own skates! But, in the meantime, do you have any exercises you can do off skates to improve that muscle memory and balance and stuff? Maybe interesting to make a video about 😊 Thank you so much!
Hello, Deby could you make please a video. Explaning how to fall backwards or how to prevent to fall on the back an broke the wrist. Please. No body talk about it.

Wooowwwww ...!! It literally took a Dirty Deborah tutorial for me to FINALLY understand it 😆 Thanks Dirty, idk what I’d do without ya!
Glad I could help!
Me too!!!!
I did it! I did it! I could finally do it this morning. The turns weren’t high or daring but they felt “right”. I finally got the arms/shoulder thing happening. I’m so stoked. Thanks, Deborah!
That's so amaziiing don't forget to keep skating
Mee too and I'm so happy and motivated 🎉
Hi❤️I would also love a video about easy ramp tricks❤️
So happy that you've started making ramp tutorials! I've really missed clear pedagogical instructions like yours for the ramp! Love it and love you!

This is an amazing tutorial. Your channel is always my go to, thank you 🙏 ❤
First video under my belt got the pumping now working on turning you are an amazing teacher thank you
“Let’s review. Step 1 - find somebody who has a ramp”😂😂😂😂 also, yes my snack area needs snacks, now that you mention snacks... thank you for the video!
Exactly!! Lol! Find ramp, find snack, find fun :)
Dirty Deb! This was the most helpful video ever!! I’m carving bowls and pumping now because of you! Thank you so much 😊
So glad it was helpful!!!!
...simple 180 transition turns...jejeje you make it sound so simple =)

Thanks!
Loved this video! I learned so much, you are a great teacher. I can do this now because of you! Please, please do more ramp and park tutorials.
More to come! Thank you so much for watching!

You know, I still have to work Friday afternoons. It makes it really hard to concentrate when you drop videos at noon this close to the weekend...
hahahahha! OH noooo!!!!
I just started skating a few weeks ago & this is extremely helpful. Also, you’re fantastically awesome🤩🥰
Yay! Thank you!
The BEST skate teacher EVEEEERR! I miss you Dirty, come back to Australia!! SO lovely to see your gorgeous smile!
So helpful. My little town in Australia is upgrading our skate park while we are in lockdown. I'm excited to try this.

Make sure that your back foot is carrying the weight. Then follow through with your upper body for the actual turn.
You are a freakin hero - and my husband (new skater) and myself (returning skater) are totally referring to stuff as Snack Area and Fun Zone.
“Go snacks go” 😂 I love your videos almost as much as your personality 💕
I am a beginner... And just learned the CARDINAL SIN OF SKATING of turning with the opposite foot lol Amazing, as always ♥️♥️♥️
You are so funny!!!! I'm taking my snacks to the ramp tomorrow to practice 🤪🤣💚
Thank you, Deborah! Your videos and you teaching style make my face area smile! 🥰
I so needed a reminder for turning in general!🤫

Another AMAZING video Debs! Off to practice practice practice ready for next week's gem of wisdom.
Sending love from the UK 💜💙💚💛🧡❤️

@@Dirtydeborahharry AMAZING 😍

Hi😁So I can do wide spins but I'd like to do small spins, like on the spot spins, how can I do that?😅
Keep your feet under your hips, keep your arms in tight.
@@Dirtydeborahharry Thank you😁
Perfect timing! I want to try baby ramps soon. Need a new helmet first.

Check out my video on "Lateral Movement". I explain it in great detail there. It is on my "Spinning and Turning" playlist.
Stomach muscles buried in whipped cream. I had to rewind the vid after I heard that because I couldn’t stop LAUGHING. 🤦🏽♀️🤣❤️

Hello, Deby could you make please a video. Explaning how to fall backwards or how to prevent to fall on the back an broke the wrist. Please. No body talk about it.
Watch my playlist about falling and getting up. Kim Manning and I talk about this specifically.
@@Dirtydeborahharry thanks I did see it. But doesnot explain my ask. How to fall backward.
Great video!!! Does this technique apply to inline skates too?
How do you find your size with protection gear? I bought bell knee pads and elbow pads and it was for adults but they’re way too tight on me!
Love your videos Deby!! Might be a stupid questions but does the kind of wheels you have on your skates are important?
i am looking to build a ramp and this one looks like the perfect size. is there any chance you know the dimensions??
Hi! The ramp is mine :) (@rollielocks on insta) My husband built it for me. 27 X 16 (20’ coping to coping)
4’ high
The super tricky part was getting the coping reveal right - we did 1/4 to 3/8
Adria McDonald omg thank you! it is beautiful and seems like the perfect size!
Do you think heeled skates or flat skates are better for park skating?
That helmet really does look awesome. Mine is red with dark vent holes on top, my kids pointed out that I look like I have a watermelon on my head.
Another great video, Dirty Deb! I've never tried skate park/ramp skating before, but watching these two videos has given me the inspiration to want to try it! I notice that you use low-heel/derby-style skates on the ramp. Can this be done with figure-skate style boots with the taller heels? Can outdoor/soft/78A wheels work okay, or is it better to use the hard indoor 95/101A wheels on the ramp?
You can use high heeled skates absolutely. I use traditional speed skates because I am comfy with them at the skate park / ramp. Use hard wheels for sure.
Deb! Can you please, please please make a tutorial on how to drop in. CIB DURHAM chapter talk about at every meet up.
Jajajajaja when I do simple turns to the right I put my right foot behind, when I want to make a 180° (I do it to the left) I put my right foot in front to jajaja 😂😂 so am I wrong? I don't know why I do that xD I feel it comfortable but I feel it's wrong xD jajaja
It isn't wrong because you are doing it and making it happen. So do it :)
@@Dirtydeborahharry owwwwn thank u so much! I was really worry :D thanks for giving us all your magic, I wish I meet u one day ❤
i do the same thing, but the opposite way- keep my left leg forward (weight on my back right leg) and i always turn 180s to the right!
What kind of skates do you use for the ramps?
Hi!!!! Where can I find wicked skate wear in Europe? Thanks 🙏
They don't ship internationally but why not try www.suckerpunchskateshop.com/en/
What height is that ramp? I'd love to learn on a ramp that size
