My weakness is being an introvert :( I'm super talkative and at ease with my family and friends and actually talk too much but with strangers I can bearly even gather up the courage to speak. How does one become more confident?
Flora Lynphea I’ve learned that being an introvert is not a weakness. You just have to get over your fear of being judged by people (easier said than done, I know) and get out of your comfort zone and actually engage with people because socializing is a skill that can be learned. It might take years, but eventually you’ll get there (I’ve been working on myself for 3 years now). I’d recommend watching videos (Ted talks) about introversion and doing the MBTI personality test!💛
It’s not a Weakness, lack of Social skills are. If you Utilise your introversion you can achieve great things since you have strengths like Individuality, Longer Focus or even independence which are great to have in Character.

And i HIGHLY reconmend you to attend a Model United Nations Conference. You know these days “MUNs” are being organized at so many places and if you can find a suitable conference for you then just attend it talk and have fun. I am just like you and never talk in the class and when i have attended my first MUN i wanted to talk that i am not sitting there like a stupid, so i talked. But i was faltering and my voice changed. In my second MUN conference i was feelin more confident. But not so much just that i wasn’t faltering. So for summary just try new activities, interact with people and have fun :D
"I'm just consulting my little book" most youtubers would just write their pointers in the note section of their phones but your different it is quite old fashioned but I like it 👍

Literally after this video i emailed my head of year for a DofE application sheet, asked my librarian to become a library prefect plus i am currently a peer tutor. You did this Jade!
I think it's important to remember though that it's not the quantity but the quality of the things you do. Universities and jobs will not give a damn if you've done bronze dofe but they will if you've done gold. You also want to do things that make you stand out, NCS is so common that it sadly won't:( unique volunteering things that you've done will! Also for unis in particular, outside reading and learning really is the thing they value the most - hopefully this helps people (year 12s in particular)

I'm honestly so happy that you mentioned horseriding! I am a volunteer at a stable where they have lessons for disabled people (They have quite a few normal lessons to, but it's focused on disabled people) and it's amazing!

I did NCS two years ago thinking I would be putting it on my UCAS... I didn't mention it once! There is so much to fit in to UCAS applications urgh, you will definitely end up omitting things. As someone who received 4 unconditional offers as a result of my personal statement, I would say most importantly - be passionate about your subject (without using the word 'passionate' haha). If you adore the subject matter you are applying for, that will be evident in your writing. If you can get a job that suits your degree that will always stand out; for example, I worked at a Maths and English tuition center for a year working with children from 4 to 15, planning lessons and delivering classes. Everything you do, make sure its relevant to that degree, or at least has skills adaptable to that course. Amazing video, as always, Jade! I have my last A-Level exam tomorrow.... ahhhhh Good luck next year! I have no doubt you will do brilliantly :)
I'd also highly recommend going on a summer school in year 12, I know there's the Sutton Trust summer school at a bunch of universities! I went on one and it made universities give me lower grade offers and even unconditionals because it showed dedication and it's so easy and so much fun! Highly recommend it!

I volunteered for a couple of years at my swimming club too! It was with young children, including those who were disabled. It was one of the most rewarding things I've done and I'm training to be a swimming teacher in the summer!!❤️❤️

I know that I am not gonna live in this world alone forever, so locking myself in my room will not get me any further towards my dreams and self-happiness.. Do you have any advice for people moving schools for sixth form? I'm a bit worried about being able to "stand out" at school as everyone else will have known each other and the teachers will already know everyone...
I actually did move schools for sixth from (for a week and then moved back...!!) but it means a totally relate 💗 it's difficult and yet so exciting. Socially I loved it. I think the thing is at sixth form everyone is more mature and therefore more open to making new friends. From day 1, just be your most confident self and do your best to get yourself out there! I know it's easier said than done, but I promise it'll be better than you think! Lots of love x x
I've always gone to mixed schools and you'll be fine. I'm a bit scared but I know there will be other people in the same boat as me. Good luck to you as well

I volunteered for a couple of years at my swimming club too! It was with young children, including those who were disabled. It was one of the most rewarding things I've done and I'm training to be a swimming teacher in the summer!!❤️❤️
I've been stressing that I'm going to have nothing to write on things like my personal statement because I'm too scared to go out and do things (one of my weaknesses is definitely worrying/anxiety) but I've realised while watching this that I've done more than I thought I had and you've pointed out some less terrifying things that I could try next (not public speaking though no no no not yet at least) so THAAAANKS!! I know that I am not gonna live in this world alone forever, so locking myself in my room will not get me any further towards my dreams and self-happiness..
But truely I feel so 'not in place' when I am with others...
I really have to find the brave to push me out of this comfort zone..!
this is really one of my biggest weakness...
my goal in life is to get a good job that I'm happy with so this is very helpful letting me get there x

Do you have any advice for people moving schools for sixth form? I'm a bit worried about being able to "stand out" at school as everyone else will have known each other and the teachers will already know everyone...
I actually did move schools for sixth from (for a week and then moved back...!!) but it means a totally relate 💗 it's difficult and yet so exciting. Socially I loved it. I think the thing is at sixth form everyone is more mature and therefore more open to making new friends. From day 1, just be your most confident self and do your best to get yourself out there! I know it's easier said than done, but I promise it'll be better than you think! Lots of love x x
I've always gone to mixed schools and you'll be fine. I'm a bit scared but I know there will be other people in the same boat as me. Good luck to you as well
Don't worry, I'm going to my school from year 11 from sixth form and everyone fits in just fine! The teachers hate us all anyway so they'll like fresh faces and don't worry too much x
