Can’t believe you were able to meet and interview Aurèlien! So amazing, thanks for sharing ❤ I’m absolutely in love with their brand ethos and fragrance collection. Santal Austral is so incredibly special to me (and I love Parisian Musc and Radical Rose as well)! Couldn’t be happier for their success and the expansive launch in the states, although selfishly I’m praying Santal Austral doesn’t become the next Santal 33 in terms of popularity once everyone starts experiencing how magical it is 😂🙈🙊

I know- that’s my favorite from them so far though I also love Encens Suave- but I feel more often drawn to wear the Santal! Even though I barely smell sandalwood, I love what I do smell.
Wow! 30 years ago I was captivated by the sillage of an elegant woman who was said to be standoffish at my workplace. I gathered the courage to approach her to ask what fragrance she was wearing & was pleasantly surprised to learn that she was actually cordial & happy to share that it was Fracas. There was a great perfume store across the street & I rushed there at lunchtime where I was shocked that Fracas was so affordable. Months later I returned to buy a backup bottle for myself & several more as gifts, but Fracas had been removed from the store (I think Cosmetics Plus, which has since closed) & would only be sold at Barneys. I even asked to purchase any open testers, but there where none. THIS is obviously the background story of what happened to my beloved Bulgarian rose fragrance. I must try Fracas again. 🤷🏽♀️🌹
Aurelian is a true master perfumer. It was love at first sniff after sniffing Crystal Saffron at Saks which I immediately purchased. I love the startling impactful bright Saffron that doesn’t become a leather accord. And the longevity is fantastic. I acquired Encens Suave and Santal Austral last year from Europe which are wonderful. I will always look forward to Matiere Premiere’s releases.
What a lovely interview! He seems so passionate about perfumery and I can't wait to see what this brand has to offer moving forward.
Never clicked on a video as fast as this one. My next buy is Neroli Oranger as I'm a fan of orange blossom. I've sampled all of his original lineup and they are great. I also own Encens Suave, the best!

Aurelien is a masterperfumer! He creates magic with his perfumes and I love the versatility and modern approach in his scents! I have so many favorites from Matiere Premiere - Parisian Musc, Radical Rose and Encens Suave; and I cant wait to get Crystal Saffron.

Sebastian, I just discovered Matiere Premiere while in France. Almost immediately became one of my new favorite houses. Immediately purchased Falcon Leather, which as you’ve reviewed… is one of the most authentic leathers out there! I couldn’t wait to get back to the US and had to purchase Encens Suave before I left. So happy to have found your interview with him! Thank you for always leading the way.

Oh wow! I love his Robert Piguet perfumes especially Alameda/Casbah. I liked Falcon Leather too, have to check out his other Matiere Premiere ones.
Matiere Premiere has become one of my favorite brands and I simply adore Santal austral, Encens suave, Falcon leather, so I am waiting forward for this one. I do enjoy saffron in fragrances, so I am curious to smell it.

I have never rushed to rush and buy fragrances from a single house as Matière Première, I believe Aurelian Guichard sculpted my very first fragrance I bought “Versace Eros”. Radical Rose , Falcon Leather and Encense Sauce are pièces de Resistance as art form !!

I’ll have to check these out, particularly leather and incense. I’m finding I really like minimal scents that focus on elevating just a few notes. Profumum Roma is a favorite so far for this reason. I’m wearing Patchouly today and it seems to get better with every wear, but Olibanum is also fantastic in the same way.

I ❤ this fragrance house! High quality and well blended. I own a full bottle of Radical Rose and I’m loving the samples I’m trying now (Santal Austral, Parisian Musc and Bois d Ebene). A “bright” saffron in Crystal Saffron sounds interesting. I agree - you don’t need a beautiful fragrance to be complicated.

Great interview , I really love this guy and Falcon Leather is my top leather in my collection .. I really love the Harrods exclusive Oud Seven what a KILLA fragrance I sure wish it was at ZGO as I only bought a 10ML decant !!!!!!!!! 😁 I am about to pull the trigger on Crystal Saffron after loving those other 2 offerings .. such long lasting scents with top notch ingredients. Whenever I see saffron and leather as notes I always wonder if safraleine is used (because it smells of both).
Nice fresh vibrant twist to a warm note ( saffron). I prefer cooling citrus aquatic notes ( living in Borneo- on the equator♨️🌅 )🌴🌏🏝 However this twist on a warm note seems to work for me as a night time fragrance.

The founder and owner of Etiket in Montreal, my favorite fragrance boutique recently added Matiere Premiere collection to their collection and they're the exclusive Canadian retailer of the fragrances. His name is Simon and he did an Instagram live interview with Aurelien Guichard a couple weeks ago discussing the fragrances. My favorite from the collection is Encens Suave but the whole collection is great. My least favorite is Crystal Safron but that's not to say it's bad, I just love others much more.
I wish I could own fields of roses...I barely have a bush. Regardless he sound very involve with all aspects of his company. I'm very intrigued.
I liked Crystal Saffron so much that I bought 2, 100ml. bottles !

Greetings Sebastian. I just came back from Paris and I bought Crystal Saffron after testing it there. I loved it and I loved so many perfumes from the brand. Now I am home and when I spray Crystal Saffron I feel completely overwhelmed by the saffron and ambroxan (?) and it’s too much. What happened? Did my nose fool me? Is it so strong I should barely spray? I want my saffron lover back and am so sad! I also just tried French Flower and need to get a bottle now. An amazing house.
This is a very metallic fragrance to me. It wasn't one of my all time faves from this house but I can see myself embracing it.
