Love to see you're back with more BM songs, I've been enjoying BM live shows between October and November and it was a blast, I will never forget and I'll be waiting next year for more, hopefully a solo show in our country. See you next year with more BM songs.🦊🤘💖
Nice reaction!🦊One of my favorite songs! KAMI BAND intro is cool 🎸SU's vocalization is cute! The choreography is adorable!💕 Your reactions are cute too!💖
Welcome back. "Awadama Fever" is just great fun, definitely up there among my own favourite BABYMETAL songs. The (almost certainly imaginary) story behind 'Awadama Fever' ... DISCLAIMER: This has never been said by them or anybody connected with the band at all, so it is only my own take on it and I (or someone - I can't recall exactly where I got it from) probably made this whole thing up, so I will emphasise THERE IS ALMOST CERTAINLY NO TRUTH IN IT and it should probably be taken with the biggest pinch of salt - but it would amuse me no end if there was even a little bit of truth in it: Some interpret how and why this song came about as being because they were criticised early on (possibly after 'Gimme Chocolate' went viral, possibly even before that) for producing "Bubblegum pop-metal with squeaky high voices". Next thing you know, a song about bubblegum - but not just any bubblegum, this bubblegum has special properties. Chew on this bubblegum and it can take you wherever you dream of going, it's a mint flavoured time machine - step aboard and see how far this dream might go, the only limit is your imagination or how much you can dream. As I said, that is probably completely untrue, but it makes me smile.
For what it's worth Grington, I read that "criticism" somewhere too at some point. I also read this song was written in direct answer to that criticism. It was Babymetal's way of saying, ok, if you wanna call us bubblegum metal, then we'll make a song all about that just for you critics!. At least that was my take on it!
I'm so glad you reacted to this song. To me it seems really under appreciated. It's catchy, it's heavy AF and just rocks. The cool part to know is this. This is still pretty early in Babymetal's career and a lot of "gate keepers" were calling BM a gimmick that were only doing bubblegum music. So Babymetal turns around and writes this absolute banger about...bubblegum. And yeah this is the OG Kami Band.
Nice one, thanks! It's very cool you have chosen a version with the Kami Band intro. Yes, they are the eastern set, since these visuals are from two shows in 2017: Silver Fox Festival and Red Fox Festival and the western set of the Kami Band wasn't introduced until 2019. This is a pretty decent compilation... and not Yui's final concert, btw (it was the last of the four "Big Fox Festival"). "Awadama Fever" is sometimes considered the "Gimme Chocolate" of their second album, Metal Resistance. Being both songs composed by Takeshi Ueda. Not among my top favorites BUT... it's very enjoyable and, allegedly, a sort middle finger to those who called them "bubblegum metal". So, justice for "Awadama Fever"!! 😁 🤘🦊
I think it is a pretty good choice. Everyone has their own tastes, but it is a very BM-like song, fun, cute, and bright one. But, to be honest, maybe I am the guy who feels a touch of lonesomeness in the lyrics because I am Japanese. And that could be because of the outro too. That is why the depth of enjoyment is so great and wide in BM's music. For me, the lyrics remind me of a Japanese children's song. And then, it might remind of 'Imagine', too...oops, I've said too much. Secretly, I am hoping to be back this song for the live shows. Thank you from Japan!
Because of the song I can already count from one to four in two different Japanese languages. "Ichi, nii, san, shii." and "Hii, fuu, mii, yon."😁 Thanks for your great reaction.
⚡ 💀 💕 / 🗃 🍬 This one was written for them by the same guy that wrote 'Gimme Chocolate!!', Takeshi Ueda. He's best known for the electronic punk band The Mad Capsule Markets. Please take the fan theory that this song was intended as a "middle finger" to BABYMETAL haters calling them a bubblegum metal group with a healthy dose of skepticism. Their producer Koba has discussed every song on the 'Metal Resistance' album, and that idea hasn't been mentioned in any interview. Also, the song lyrics mention "chewing gum" as often as they mention "bubble gum". : ) The choreography makes a little more sense when you know that "Awadama Fever" means "Bubble Fever". Unfortunately, they haven't performed this one since 2017 when Yui was still in the group.
The Eastern Kami Band performed with BABYMETAL in January of 2023, but it's been exclusively the Western Kami Band since then. Both groups stared wearing masks in 2019.
Great to see you back with Babymetal. I love this song because its so silly...mint flavoured time machine? they been licking it or was Moa hungry and decided to take a bite? Su doing the super kawaii vocals and the dance are so fun compared to the really heavy music, their signature contrast to the max! I too have many more BM tracks that i think are better but for just pure fun to put a smile on your face & joining in, this is perfect.oooooooo YEAH! kitsune up!
How dare you come back without a gift basket full of Balut?! J/K 😂🤣🐣 This is just one of their fun goofy songs. The absolute best and most kawaii anthem about bubble gum. The upgraded and superior version to “Gimme Chocolate” 😂. Fun fact: I believe this is a compilation of 2 performances. One of them is from the “Red Fox Festival”, and it was an all female audience, so Babymetal were being extra Kawaii for them 😂. Look forward to your return and more Babymetal!! 🤘🦊
@ I believe this is a compilation of Silver and Red Fox Festivals in one video. Babymetal did 5 Fox Festivals, then the Big Fox Festival in 2017. That was the last show Yui was present for before she stopped performing. The 5 Fox Festivals: Red - Females only Black - Males only Gold - Teens only Silver - Children & Seniors only White - Must wear Kami Band white face paint
Background information? This is a song about Bubblegum. Supposedly this song was a tongue and cheek answer to criticism from some heavy metal fans who called BABYMETAL "bubblegum metal". So what did BABYMETAL do? Make an awesome song about bubblegum. Maybe a classy way of giving the middle finger to your critics?
A song that has pŕetty much vanished out of their setlists. Gimmie Chocolate simply is much bigger. It simply doesn't Match to the adult Babymetal. It is in essence an easier Version of Catch me if you can.
@sassjastans Outch, then you should try to fix it. It is the simple truth, this song and Video was the main reason, why they were accepted in Europe. In fact many people had totally wrong conceptions about the girls. Concepts like Sakura Gakuin, were pretty much unknown in the West. Indtead you could guess most of the audience would guess that Su eas the Wie of one ofvthe musicians. Due to the simple fact that in most Western Bands this eas the simple truth for female Band membets. In most cases she was the wife, or at least claimed to be the wife of one of the other Band members. Simply since most people had crazy ideas what happened in the backstage areas. It was the best idea for many women to claim to be marroed to one of the Band members and to be recognized as a human being. So for many fans this was simply the case that europeans can't guess the age of an Asian female. And Koba preferred to be silent. The simple truth would have been an automatic Terminator of all contacts. It was this video of the Legend 1997 concert that was recognized in the West and told in the mind of most organizers the simple truth since most hardcore metalheads would not regain their conciousness till the japanese left the room. If I am.not mistaken this was one of the songs without the Kami Band. But it was clear that the girls would be together with the Band. It was essential for Europe.

Awadama Fever:-
Awadama Fever is a song from BABYMETAL's second original album, METAL RESISTANCE. The same composer who wrote "Gimme Chocolate". This song was written as a result of backlash from the BABYMETAL haters that BABYMETAL are a bubblegum pop Band. When the breakdown happens, you are entering "DOOM" territory. This genre can be considered Industrial Metal like Rammstein from Germany 🇩🇪 & Reminiscent elements of melodic speed metal. "Awadama Fever", like "Gimme Chocolate!!", follows genres of drum and bubblegum... - melodies over thrash metal", the group's song, "Awadama Fever" exemplified the genre, the song contained "slabs of angry... their regular number "Doki Doki ✩ Morning", becoming heated on the floor. "Awadama Fever" has Su-metal performing call and response with the audience shouting...
SWEETS:-
Pine Awadama: The Pioneer of Fizzy Candies in Japan. The Awadama soda candy (Weight: 120 g/ Price: 162 yen) is from Pine, an Osaka-based confectionery company known for its pineapple candy named Pine Ame (パインアメ).
Awadama (あわだま), literally meaning Bubble Ball, is a kind of Dagashi. First released in 1987, this product is known as the pioneer of fizzy candies in Japan.
Awadama Soda Candy, Apple, Pineapple & Grape Flavors.
Since fizzy soda candies weren’t around at the time, these treats soon became popular, and Dagashiya candy shops dotted around the city carried them.
Today, candy shops are rarely seen in the city, but instead, Dagashi treats like this are available at supermarkets, convenience stores, and drugstore chains.
Awadama Candy from Pine
The Awadama soda candy comes in three flavours, Apple (アップル), Pineapple (パイン), and Grape (グレープ), which are neither so sweet nor intense.
Once popped in the mouth, these Ame (hard candies) give a slight fizzy feeling, and the slow fizz lasts till the end. They are not stimulating but refreshing, and I can’t get enough of eating them!

Yes, it is the Kami Band.. but I think the real reason was the simplified choreographie..
A song that has pŕetty much vanished out of their setlists. Gimmie Chocolate simply is much bigger. It simply doesn't Match to the adult Babymetal. It is in essence an easier Version of Catch me if you can.
