Some metalheads still maintain their stance that BABYMETAL are just young girls that have been forced into Metal and have no fun in what they are doing. I wonder how an opinion like that can be upheld in light of footage like this. I have hardly ever seen anyone displaying such an amount of contagious joy on stage. I don't understand how anyone can watch this without having a smile on their face. I certainly do, no matter how often I watch it.

They are just awful people. Their version of what the world should be does not include fun. I have listened to metal for 35 years. I would never call myself a metal head. I don't want to be associated with such people. I feel like there is a certain extreme political view that usually goes along with that.

Great reaction. The song was composed by the BABYMETAL team although, as you know already, Herman Li and Sam Totman from DragonForce did the guitar arrangements (it is the only BABYMETAL song they were involved in) and recorded the guitars for the album version.
Herman has said they wrote the guitars to be more technical and faster than most of their own songs thinking they would never have to play it live ... and then they had to practice hard when they were asked to play it with BABYMETAL at an awards show in London in 2015.
About the song itself - 'Road of Resistance' is a very positive song, it isn't the usual "resist the machine or the system etc" that we might expect from the title. It is about following your dreams, going your own way and forging your own road where no road exists, not necessarily going the easy way or following the path already made by somebody else, so if the way you want to go has never been trodden you may have to get past the resistance of the undergrowth, obstacles, hurdles and things blocking your way etc to find your own way.
It could easily be used to describe BABYMETAL's own story - they could have followed the well trodden path of J-Pop and been very successful, but they chose to go with Metal ... but again they didn't just follow the same old format of every other metal band, they have done it their own way and it hasn't always been an easy route to follow.
The PIA Arena concerts had the Kami Band of the West (American musicians Chris Kelly and CJ Masciantonio on guitars, Clint Tustin on bass and Anthony Barone on drums). The Kami Band may not get so much camera time for the BluRays and DVDs, but a lot of that is to do with the size of the productions and the stage design, plus the girls being BABYMETAL are the main focus of course and they perform the main visual parts of the shows - everybody at the concerts can see the Kami Band perfectly well and they do get their moments in the spotlight in many concerts with instrumental intros before some songs.

Nice reaction! PIA Arena MM is rather small in size, compared to the "original", Saitama Super Arena, where they recorded the video "BABYMETAL - Road of Resistance - Live in Japan (OFFICIAL)" in 2015 (!). PIA Arena MM has a capacity of ~12k people, with the big stage it might have been reduced to roughly 10k people. Saitama Super Arena has a capacity of ~22k people. You should see the stage there 😉 Or the stage they used at the Tokyo Dome 😄
Well, "BABYMETAL Begins" was a rather special concert, as it was the concert where they introduced Momometal to us. She was an "Avenger", a backup dancer, filling in the third spot left by Yuimetal (OG member), and was promoted to full member the evening before, after dancing for BABYMETAL since 2019, and being the only "Avenger" left since 2020. There were three of them, the other two are Riho Sayashi and Kano Fujihira.
The crowd was so happy to learn that, after a hiatus and fears that BABYMETAL had ended, finally there is a "new" BABYMETAL. You should do a reaction to "BABYMETAL DEATH" from that concert, too! 😉

@@kaNjiXIII Don't sweat it, dude. Those who said this Road of Resistance "isn't the best version" are "correct" in their own way. Here's what they meant:
Many of the fan bases experienced early Babymetal from 10+ years ago, when they were kids. They watched them grow into amazing young adults throughout their careers. Lead Su-metal was 12 at the start of Babymetal in 2010, and tomorrow is her 27th birthday.
Thus, a lot of them will want you to see the Jan 2015 *Official Live* version, which is absolutely epic as well.
The other half of the fan base feels the "new" Babymetal is the better representation of them today. Especially now that Kami Band West (from this video) is their sole backing band, whereas previously, they primarily had Kami Band East (who are virtuosos)
Both are right in their own way, so 🤷‍♂.
If you feel up to it, you can always do a double: 1 older and 1 newer. Or, 1 MV and 1 live for certain songs.
Either way, it's up to you how you want to enjoy the journey lol. 🤘🦊

As the other comment already mentioned, they do get attention, but also fans know very well who is who.
The most famous of the current guys is: drummer Anthony Barone.
He has his own UA-cam channel. for example he has an official playthrough on his channel of Rise of the fearmonger from a band he was active with before.Beneath The Massacre, other bands he was/is involved with: Shadow of Intent, All that Remains.
The size of this venue was 10 000 people, Babymetal more often perform at an other venue in Japan which is 20 000 people.
They wanted to perform here, to start the new Babymetal, adding their new member, Momoko as Momometal, this is the region where she lives or was born.
The biggest venue Babymetal has performed at in Japan is: Tokyo Dome, which is 55 000, that was in 2016, 2 sold out nights in a row. No song was repeated, it's literally all songs from the first 2 albums.
But they've also performed at festival in Europe main stage which has even more people.

HQ Pro Shots of LIVE performances (like the one you just reacted to) are the way to go NOT Official MV's that generally use studio audio over LIVE footage.
    Band the Real stars?
Nope hate to tell you this but even though these are world class musicians that make up the BABYMETAL Tour Band (called the Kami Band) - musicians from the U.S. who are totally devoted to these young ladies because of the ladies talent, work ethic, discipline and high character, they know that there are hundreds literally thousands of musicians in bands all over the world and they would be just one more among the rest without the 3 young ladies and they are more than grateful to be a part.
These young ladies have paid their dues since 2010 starting with little money (not even enough to hire a LIVE band but instead had friends dressed up as skeletons pretending to play music over a backtrack and the girls had to borrow clothes from friends and family for performances. Who else does choreography to metal? They performed in strip malls and small venues until they became a phenomenon and their talent production company hired a LIVE band for tours and BABYMETAL literally took over the world. You reacted to the Karate Legend MM performance now take a look how much the UK loves them:
Karate LIVE at 2016 Download Festival in the UK where 60,000+ British Metal heads sing along with the girls.
No one works harder than these ladies and the music is unique to themselves.

Good reaction. There is something that is difficult to understand for the Western reactor that approaches BabyMetal.
BabyMetal is not a heavy music group, but a group of metal idols. If you don't know everything that surrounds idols in Japan or Asia in general, it is very difficult to understand what you are really seeing.
Idols in Asia are mainly linked to Pop (Jpop, Kpop, etc). However, BM was an experiment to fuse pop with metal from an idol perspective. And it worked, boy did it work.
Idols have several things in common, regardless of gender. They dance, they sing, they ALWAYS smile and they have amazing control of the audience.
Then, about this song and it is a personal opinion, I get the feeling that more than an anthem it is a challenge to all those who called it a joke in bad taste. A song where they indicate that, no matter what they think of them, they will follow their path as they believe they should.

Possibly the influence of Buddhism. The best example of this is a an anime like Made in Abyss. Made in Abyss is very very cute. And sometimes happy. There used to be more emphasis on the Kami Band, but Things Happened, and then Things Changed. This was the Western Kami Band, but I prefer the Eastern, at least on this song. You might check out the Official Live in Japan version off camera. More Kami focus. Even more impressive crowd control. It's a must watch. 🤘🦊🤘

I really didn't expect so much lore when I started with Babymetal, I guess I need to study them. :D Thank you for your comment.
