Some metalheads still maintain their stance that BABYMETAL are just young girls that have been forced into Metal and have no fun in what they are doing. I wonder how an opinion like that can be upheld in light of footage like this. I have hardly ever seen anyone displaying such an amount of contagious joy on stage. I don't understand how anyone can watch this without having a smile on their face. I certainly do, no matter how often I watch it.
They are just awful people. Their version of what the world should be does not include fun. I have listened to metal for 35 years. I would never call myself a metal head. I don't want to be associated with such people. I feel like there is a certain extreme political view that usually goes along with that.
I believe that some are afraid to check out their latest performances because they would have to admit that BABYMETAL is indeed metal (and damn good😉). 🦊 🖖❤
Great reaction. The song was composed by the BABYMETAL team although, as you know already, Herman Li and Sam Totman from DragonForce did the guitar arrangements (it is the only BABYMETAL song they were involved in) and recorded the guitars for the album version. Herman has said they wrote the guitars to be more technical and faster than most of their own songs thinking they would never have to play it live ... and then they had to practice hard when they were asked to play it with BABYMETAL at an awards show in London in 2015. About the song itself - 'Road of Resistance' is a very positive song, it isn't the usual "resist the machine or the system etc" that we might expect from the title. It is about following your dreams, going your own way and forging your own road where no road exists, not necessarily going the easy way or following the path already made by somebody else, so if the way you want to go has never been trodden you may have to get past the resistance of the undergrowth, obstacles, hurdles and things blocking your way etc to find your own way. It could easily be used to describe BABYMETAL's own story - they could have followed the well trodden path of J-Pop and been very successful, but they chose to go with Metal ... but again they didn't just follow the same old format of every other metal band, they have done it their own way and it hasn't always been an easy route to follow. The PIA Arena concerts had the Kami Band of the West (American musicians Chris Kelly and CJ Masciantonio on guitars, Clint Tustin on bass and Anthony Barone on drums). The Kami Band may not get so much camera time for the BluRays and DVDs, but a lot of that is to do with the size of the productions and the stage design, plus the girls being BABYMETAL are the main focus of course and they perform the main visual parts of the shows - everybody at the concerts can see the Kami Band perfectly well and they do get their moments in the spotlight in many concerts with instrumental intros before some songs.

Good reaction. There is something that is difficult to understand for the Western reactor that approaches BabyMetal. BabyMetal is not a heavy music group, but a group of metal idols. If you don't know everything that surrounds idols in Japan or Asia in general, it is very difficult to understand what you are really seeing. Idols in Asia are mainly linked to Pop (Jpop, Kpop, etc). However, BM was an experiment to fuse pop with metal from an idol perspective. And it worked, boy did it work. Idols have several things in common, regardless of gender. They dance, they sing, they ALWAYS smile and they have amazing control of the audience. Then, about this song and it is a personal opinion, I get the feeling that more than an anthem it is a challenge to all those who called it a joke in bad taste. A song where they indicate that, no matter what they think of them, they will follow their path as they believe they should.
10:20 It isn't just Japanese music. It's a Japanese culture thing i assume. You see the same in Anime where the mood can change very quickly. Or to mix sad and happy together. Possibly the influence of Buddhism. The best example of this is a an anime like Made in Abyss. Made in Abyss is very very cute. And sometimes happy. But genuinely the most horrifying show I've ever seen. I honestly don't recommend it.
There used to be more emphasis on the Kami Band, but Things Happened, and then Things Changed. This was the Western Kami Band, but I prefer the Eastern, at least on this song. You might check out the Official Live in Japan version off camera. More Kami focus. Even more impressive crowd control. It's a must watch. 🤘🦊🤘

I'm glad that I at least know that idols exist and that I have a small idea of what it is. :)
Cool way to view that song, thank you for sharing that.
If you want to listen to the musicians react to Rondo of Nightmare, everyone has a solo in that song
Will do, that sounds amazing. :D
True, good comparison. Oh my god, Made in Abyss destroyed me, I remember it wasn't finished, but I'm not sure. Well, I saw it xD

I really didn't expect so much lore when I started with Babymetal, I guess I need to study them. :D Thank you for your comment.
