Okay, disclaimer first: This is meant to be constructive criticism intended to educate and hopefully enchance this tutorial with my expertise as a phone technician. So, y'know. Anyway. Few things: 1) That's an OEM screen,. There's no flex cable when you're opening it. As a matter of fact, unless I'm mistaken, the last time Apple put the flex cable at the bottom was the iPhone 5S (and SE by proxy, it's the same build save for the chips). That doesn't mean rip the screen off; you still want to be very careful. You can open the screen to about 90 degrees from the phone body safely. 2) He's right about the waterproofing seal, and this will COMPLETELY VOID YOUR WARRANTY even if you stop here. Once you pierce that seal and open the screen, you may as well go for broke. 3) Back to the screen. When you're opening it, you might find it helpful to actually remove the screen, especially if you have bigger hands like me. If you're a novice, removing the screen might actually be wiser. Key point: The screws need to go back EXACTLY where you took them from, or you'll probably ruin your phone. Ever see an iPhone bootloop into a blue screen after a repair? This is probably the cause. Arrange your screws in the exact positions they came out, and put your shield nearby in the same relative orientation to make this easy. 4) Removing the battery is INFINITELY easier if you carefully apply heat to the back of the phone, using either an iOpener from ifixit or a hair dryer/heat gun. Don't go crazy or the battery will catch fire, but you're pretty safe for the first 30 seconds or so, and that's all you need to loosen the adhesive. Same thing with the tape at the bottom, just don't do it for more than 5 seconds since your aiming at the battery. If you're using a hair dryer, I prefer the highest temp with sweeping motions to evenly distribute heat, heat gun I'd use at the lowest setting, same idea. Whatever you do, DON'T puncture the battery - it WILL spark and look pretty intimidating, and more importantly it can cause a fire, poison you, or ruin your battery. Seriously, be very careful. I've frisbee'd an iPad because of this. 5) Not really a tip, but a commentary on how this affects your device: I don't know. The phone itself isn't "expecting" a particular kind of drain, as it fluctuates voltage almost constantly depending on what you're doing, so the worst I'd imagine happening is your battery drains faster, or the battery meter becomes slightly more inaccurate, but your phone measures the power it's using, it doesn't just guesstimate how much it should be. It's why your phone dies faster when you're using it but can last up to 2 days if you're not (a week if you remove the sim/keep airplane mode on). So....I wouldn't be too worried on this end, but your mileage may vary. Overall, I encourage trying this if you have a spare phone. If you don't and only have a daily driver....weigh the risks of opening your phone against how much you'd like to learn to do it, and go on from there. Most importantly: UA-cam. Seriously, this whole essay could have been summed up in one UA-cam link. "iPhone 6S disassembly" will yield more results than you'll ever need. Other than that, be careful but not afraid. It's easier than you think; a humble estimate of how long this would take me is approximately 10-15 minutes, 5 if I rushed it. That said, take your time. You suck at this right now. :) I know that was long af, but if you read any or all of it, I hope it helps. And shoot this guy a Like and/or Sub, he's awesome for everything Apple. (cwutididthere?)
Eric F. As a fellow technician, I have to agree with everything you said. As far as repairs in 5 minutes, I can do that too, but not on the 6s and everything else after that because of the adhesive(which I always try to save).
Hi! you should use a heat gun to heat the surroundings of the apple logo to make the glue soft. It will make the removal of the original logo much more easy. And it helps you to prevent making dents in the back plate of the iPhone such as you did make. You could also have removed the Tap-Tic Engine to get more space to remove the battery's glue strips. (I own a smartphone and tablet repair company in The Netherlands).
Because you have to put glow in the dark under some sort of light and also with this mod you can ajust the brightness of Apple LED with the control centre

I did it with the touch version that connects straight to the battery it looks class 👍🏻 all part of learning I fix friends screens & replaces battery’s for them & now some want this too :) it’s just handy to know how to do but I have many broken screens under my belt aswell but practice makes perfect 👌🏻

PRO TIP: be EXTREMELY careful around the home button as the glass is very thin and breaks easily. I'd only get the corners and edges of the screen if possible. (I know from $120 worth of broken screen experience.)

Took me 2.5 hours - ripped the plastic covering on the battery but just tapped it back together so no inner metal was sticking out and no issues, had to put a little bit of the glue holding down the battery as extra pressure to get the connections working but now results in a slight bulge in the screen, not too concerning - the touch works fine and not too noticeable with a case, however, 3d touch doesnt work in the bulged area - taking it all out would bring it back to normal so its fun to try out. Battery and screen replacements are fairly cheap
Do not attempt this bullshit on your device, these are phones killer gadgets. I'm an experienced phone mobile technician and every week we get phones in that have been destroyed by customers trying to install this crap. 1 if you pry the battery in the way shown in this video you're most likely gonna damage it. Not only is this dangerous for the phone itself but for you too. Normal iPhone 6 batteries have a capacity of 1.800 amps, although it takes as low as 0.100 to 0.200 amps to kill a human being, so do not force out the battery in that way. There are 2 strips of adhesive that are supposed to be pulled out from underneath the battery, located around the charging port area, then the battery will easily come out with no damage at all. 2 if you don't disconnect the screen completely from the rest of the phone (cables included) you're most likely gonna damage one of those flexes. Repairing a 6s screen in uk costs anything between £100 and £145, is it worth the risk for a gay glowing apple logo? 3 never and ever pry anything with a screwdriver driver inside a phone when motherboard and cable flexes are still around, you'll end up slipping the screwdriver and damage easily the volume flexes at the very least, or worst the motherboard itself. 4 do not attach anything to the screen soldering points: those plates are the junction points for the backlight circuit, should you bridge positive with ground you'll end up at the very least with a permanent damage on the lcd backlight or even worst and evenly likely you'd be damaging permanently the backlight system on the motherboard. So I'm asking you again, is it worth risking £500 phone or even arming yourself for a gay ass fun boy shining apple logo? You'll be the judge.
A few years ago, I think I was 12 or 13, I replaced my iPhone 5s screen. It was the most tedious and stressful thing, but it was so worth it. I ordered the screen for $30 off of amazon. The only thing was my phone was bent and beat up from before so the good screen naturally had a few tiny cracks. And, my front facing camera was tinted yellow. I still can't believe my mom let me😂 😂

FYI, the touch ID cable on 6s and 6s plus, as well as 6 and 6 plus, is with the rest of the display connectors under the big cowling. It's not like the 5s, which connects touch ID below the battery.
Sometimes for quick battery repairs you can’t find the adhesive it’s okay to put the battery back in without any sticky adhesive. It’s okay for a quick repair or if you can’t find adhesive.
I actually have a one already it's white it's actually bright it does dim according to the screen brightness but I would not recommend it believe me I've actually broke my lock ribbon cable on my six so it's not worth it but does look good, but whenever I take a picture in the dark it always shows up the glowing apple logo there are also other problems that could be fixed by a hard reset button button is broken I can't fix them so it is not worth it

A few years ago, I think I was 12 or 13, I replaced my iPhone 5s screen. It was the most tedious and stressful thing, but it was so worth it. I ordered the screen for $30 off of amazon. The only thing was my phone was bent and beat up from before so the good screen naturally had a few tiny cracks. And, my front facing camera was tinted yellow. I still can't believe my mom let me😂 😂

FYI, the touch ID cable on 6s and 6s plus, as well as 6 and 6 plus, is with the rest of the display connectors under the big cowling. It's not like the 5s, which connects touch ID below the battery.

Sometimes for quick battery repairs you can’t find the adhesive it’s okay to put the battery back in without any sticky adhesive. It’s okay for a quick repair or if you can’t find adhesive.
I actually have a one already it's white it's actually bright it does dim according to the screen brightness but I would not recommend it believe me I've actually broke my lock ribbon cable on my six so it's not worth it but does look good, but whenever I take a picture in the dark it always shows up the glowing apple logo there are also other problems that could be fixed by a hard reset button button is broken I can't fix them so it is not worth it
