I love this guy!!! Thanks so much for the informative clips. I just purchased my first 200 tdi.... I cant tell you how much help these vids have been. So many great ideas for fitting out the interior of my defender. Cheers mate.
Good stuff mate. I've been doing similar stuff to 110 and notice that you've got rust on the same parts of the rear doors as mine, where the door card edge has rubbed the paint off door frame just under the window. I've checker plated the inside of the rear tub and it makes a huge difference. It'll be great to see the next parts!
"now its time to give it a good scrub down and a hose out, that's the best thing about defenders".... no, that's the best thing about Australia. Try that over here and not only would the truck never dry out, you'd get too cold to finish the job :D Great vids mate. Hope you are enjoying your trip.
Watching you spraying the inside out reminded me of when I was doing the same to my 80 series (land cruiser) after drowning it....I would guess I had to removed allot more "bits" than you had to before the spray out!....
Looks like you've got a bit of a moisture issues there Brad in the old Land Rover around your back door all your window sills get hold of this product I found it very good from Bunnings Warehouse called penetrol rust treatment
I just finished binge watching your project from 1-6 videos. attention to detail is really impressive. I have been wanting to do something similar with a 1960s 109 but mainly for traveling and not necessarily sleeping in. Still like tenting. would you recommend it? Anyone I talk to tells me to just sub contracting it to a professional firm that does modifications. but that's not me.
Thanks mate. First just make a list of all the accessories inside and out you want then start drawing concept pictures. It pretty much evolves from there... keep an eye out on the forums too to see how everyone else set up their vehicle to get some starting ideas. Then start building it.
Very interesting project and well presented mate, I had a 93 defender the same colour as yours but at the time couldnt afford to keep it, wish I had it now. Would like to get an ex army soft top Defender and strip it back and rebuild it like you but the onsellers are asking WAY to much, for some its a Ferrari, others a Holden, for me its a LR Defender, are you on facebook cos I would like to follow? keep it up, Rowd
+Luke K If there are none in Canada they may be illegal like in the US unless fitted with a rollcage, or are a certain number of years old. If you have the money you could import one from the UK or OZ for example.
I live in Vancouver, B.C. Canada. And well, I do see 5/100 Defender roaming around the city. Few people sale their own defender here for $150,000... which is ridiculously... my friend is Cornish and he told that I could purchase them from Australia or England (The Motherland of Land Rover Defender).
Piece of shit or not. I want it. Its in my collective list. Already have 1997 Cherokee, 1968 Mustang Fastback, 1974 Triumph TR6 and now I want my Defender.
karrycooper1 You just don't get it do you. A Landrover is more than a vehicle. It's like your dog, your best friend . It, Pisse's water (and oil) on the floor. has A load of shit coming out the back of it. guzzles it's food (diesel) and consumes far more than it should. Loves coming home covered in mud. Just loves to run wild and free. Lets you down occasionally but you forgive it . Will stay with you all it's life and could easily outlive you. Is the coolest set of wheels you can ever own Just look at it Puts a smile on your face every time you see it. And remember, A Landrover is for life not just for Christmas!
too funny mate so your saying british ingenuity works well hey ..... to bad they are powered by isuzu nowdays... i like what you said at the end a landrover is for life not christmas ... is that like saying heres your gift to bad if you dont like it , your stuck with it ??? lol AS LONG AS ITS 4BEE IS ALL THAT MATTERS
Does anyone know any movies, programmes, documentaries... About expeditions and exploring? Desert, rainforest, mountain... Anything, if it includes defenders better still haha
I'll tell you what Brett, you sure do spoil your landy alright, much better than me, or even more than any land Rover Owner for that matter. Who knows, you could start up Land rover car detailing business to earn some extra on the side, because other blokes wouldn't be keen on doing it.
I am not trying to offend nobody, it's a cool looking car , but it's a failure of Land Rover , it has no horse power neither torque, lots of people think it is a. Hard core off road car like g500 or weangler ,they are wrong , and it feels like a old truck , it has nothing , my Touareg can beat it easily off road or highway, and it consumes lots of gas , it's piece of shit , my neighbor had one ,
lol...your Touareg can beat it. You're seriously comparing a jumped up Soccer Moms Minivan to a world conquering, expedition vehicle? Damn, I hope you dont breed!
I love this guy!!!

Enjoyed the vids , really transformed the beast ! Looking at getting a defender and the scene of you hosing the back out won it for me!
Thanks mate. Part 5 will be up soon so stay tuned. Yes, hosing out a Defender is one of the bonuses of ownership! :-)

How would you specifically recommend, starting the planning as that would guide the future build up process. Thank you. Ray
