    Awesome Brett, what a Whopper !! Only ever saw one of those come out back in the day when doing GAM 1000, so it's great to see there are still big boys about. I still have those 2 Bucktails and using them here in the UK and the Pike also love them. Tight Lines!

    Fantastic catch Brett. Quick question from the UK. I will be in Plett in April and just wanted to know if Gamtoos river and beaches are easily accessible by car or a long treck is involved. Cheers and congrats again

    • @trophytails
      @trophytails  Місяць тому +1

      @nomoguff241 For river fishing the best spots are a 2km comfortable walk. For the beach 500m and you are on the surf from the parking.

      Too true Bjorn, but hopefully we will come to realize soon that we need to protect these big Boyz!!

    • @francoiskolesky2702
      @francoiskolesky2702 Місяць тому

      Actually not true, the ones we catch out at sea is different specie, silver cob (argyrosomos inodorus) they dont grow as big as the Dusky cob (argyrosomos japonicus) which is ones found in rivers and surf zone, very seldom venture out deep to sea. You will catch the odd one but 95%+ of ones caught deepsea is silvers which breed from very little size, thus the reason why you allowed 5 of them from vessel and not one like from the side or river. But we do need to look after all our big cob. Numbers declining quickly. Good to see there is more and more people releasing big cob👌

      @@francoiskolesky2702 don't agree. Lots of ski-boaters and fishing skis target "daga salmon" especially on the wrecks. These are dusky cob

    • @francoiskolesky2702
      @francoiskolesky2702 Місяць тому +2

      @@bjornhoffmann6008 you are 100% correct a daga salmon is a dusky, but the ones they catch out at sea is mostly silvers, "daga" is purely a slang name the guys in KZN use for the larger specimens, the younger ones they call "half cobs" Next time you catch a "daga" out at sea smell it, it will smell like nothing, thus where second part of scientific name "inodorus" comes from. A dusky has a strong metalic smell you cannot miss.
