    Dutch's comments about ECW not lasting longer than they did because they didn't have very many female fans is 100% right on the mark. Paul E is a genius but he couldn't realize that he also needed something for women and young kids to be around for a long time. That and Paul needed someone who could be the accounting/finance manager and handle all the financial affairs. .

    I can see why Dusty decided to replace Condrey with Stan Lane when he left the Midnight Express. If he drew so well with Keirn as the Fabulous Ones, he fit right in as a member of the Midnight Express. Great move.

    I remember the promotional video Jarrett and Lawler made for the Fabs. The Jerry's were ahead of their time in promotion, they were among the first to give wrestlers entrance music and to make promotional videos to highlight the stars. But the video for the Fabulous Ones, oy-vey, sexy shots of them trying to attract the female audience, instead seemed more geared to attract the "other" male audience! Same thing with another team they had called The Dirty White Boys, Tony Anthony & Len Denton, supposed to be made to showcase them as tough bikers turned out to make them look like Leather Daddies.

      I believe the Fabulous Freebirds were the first to use entrance music, but the Fabs with their music videos pioneered marketing in that manner. Everybody copied the Fabs - R&R Express, Midnight Express, Fantastics, etc.
      Stan went on to be a star with the rock ‘n’ roll Xpress and Steve Kerr really never repeated his success anywhere else

    • @FerretJohn
      @FerretJohn Рік тому

      @@davidstemm9059 Actually the first to come down with Entrance Music was Gorgeous George back in the 1950s, in the 70s it was a toss-up between the Freebirds or "Bad" Leroy Brown. Lawler and Jarrett were the ones to give most of their stars their own music, not just one or two who brought their own. But we're not talking just Entrance Music here, we're talking video packages/ As for the Fabulous Ones, Stan Lane went on to replace Dennis Condrey in the Midnight Express, not the Rock & Roll Express, Steve Keirn had his successes too, mostly in Florida where he preferred hanging out in, though he did venture over to the WWF where he was Skinner and one of the Doinks, and then after retiring from the ring reopened Florida Championship Wrestling, establishing it as the WWE's chief training ground, what is now NXT.

      @@FerretJohn anything before 81 is before my time so I’ll take your word on that 😂. Total typo on R&R - yea he replaced Condry who was with Eaton who had replaced Randy R. Didn’t mean to diminish what Steve did after, just meant he was never as over again as he was as a member of the Fabs in Memphis. Teased a Fabs resurrection in WCW but don’t think anything ever came of that. I’m reading his book now - so far it’s pretty good 👍

      @@davidstemm9059 As far as I can tell Steve was more of a home-body, aside from a short run in the WWF and a few runs in Memphis he preferred staying around Tampa with his family. He may not have quite gotten the Air Time as Stan and the Midnights, but he was there for more of his kids birthdays

    ECW did have kids in the crowd. Don't ask me why...Eddie Guerrero, Super Crazy, Rey Misterio Junior or Rob Van Dam perhaps, but I can only guess. I know the presence of children is why more women didn't "show their tits" on ECW shows.
