The Fabulous Ones were one of the BEST tag teams of the 80s!

I definitely concur. Their outfits in Memphis were ridiculous and foppish, but they seemed a LOT tougher then the average pretty boy. Same with the Fantastics, though I dig the Fab's more. Fairly strange, as I usually dig ultra-violent Heels, but these "Pretty Boys" hung in there with some of the top Heel teams, when it came to brawling.
Title Match Wrestling The Road Warriors suck! They were green as well! What a hush!
They were 🗑!
Man, I could listen to Steve Keirn talk all day long. The guy has a memory like an elephant and he's entertaining as hell. Lane still looks fantastic, too. Glad to see them healthy and happy. Great interview!
grantorino2009 They didn’t take rubbish that’s why .
My mind was fuckin blown finding out Kern was Skinner..I didn’t know about kern or the fabulous ones until a few years ago but even he played dress up for Vince
I already knew as soon as it said "Road Warriors" in the title, that it was solely gonna be Mike AKA Hawk actually causing the problems. lol
Stan is one of my all-time favorites. Always great to see interviews with him.
Stan Lane is one of the more underrated tag team wrestlers.
That’s because of his days with the Midnight Express. Dennis Condrey set the bar high with Bobby Eaton for a heel tag team. Eaton was in the championship mix in Memphis but they were both strong singles wrestlers before they were taken to Mid South in a talent swap and put together with Jim Cornette. Either one of them could do the heavy lifting in a tag team match. That’s what fans came to expect from them and when Stan replaced Dennis their in ring performance changed quite a bit. They became more of a traditional tag team with Bobby usually starting the match, then random tags with Stan and he would only doing one of his karate kicks or a suplex (sue-play in Mid South) then tagging Bobby back in. When the Babyface’s would do their comeback or hot tag it was almost always on Bobby. I don’t know if Stan had an injury history or if he just slowed down with time but the difference is night and day between him in the Fabulous Ones and his run with the Midnight/Heavenly Bodies. Although I will say when Stan joined the Midnight their appearance and out of ring performance was way better. Condrey had a goofy walk and he always wore the handkerchief around his neck. They always had different outfits and robes. They looked like 2 singles wrestlers that had been recently put together as a tag team. After Stan had joined for a bit they started wearing matching tights and robes. Stan was more photogenic and with him they were able to do their baby face turn in the late 80’s. I doubt anyone at that time would have excepted Condrey as a babyface.
Steve Keirn is a helluva good storyteller.
He was a classic wrestler that you don't see these days.
So many of these retired wrestlers have such great stories ...
The Fabs vs the Guerrero’s from Houston is a sight to behold. Some of the sports greatest battles happened in Houston.
The Fabulous ones was very very popular back in the day!!!! Their feud with sheepherders was awesome
Both guys look great. Kiern looks like he could STILL clean out a bar.
About 2 years later he finely calmed down and we were back talking again😂😂😂😂😂
Great story at the end, smart strategy by Keirn as them jumping the Sheepherders and leaving was a good way to build the next match.
I used to be Stan Lane, when I played wrestling.
Thats cool!
Nick Jagger u was ric flair then
@@kingsports1113 or was he Keith Richards ?
Sweet Stan Lane is in the building!
These guys were the best draw for a long time especially down in Memphis
Their intro was legendary.
Man,they aged well, look younger than the 80's. Good storytellers.
One of the best wrestling stories ever
Need a fantasy match between the Fabulous ones with Stan vs The Midnight Express with Stan
My favorite tag team in the 80's Stan and Steve
Yowza!!!
God I remember seeing them wrestling in Nashville when I was 8 years old look at them now in 44 years old
I was totally in love with The Fabulous Ones!! OMG Steve and Stan was the shit back in the day.
You do not look that old.
@@robertcraigh73 Awww Ur so sweet.. I will b 53 in June💋❤
@@cynthiadean19 no way. :)
@@robertcraigh73 I'm a 68 baby that became a 80s girl.❤❤
@@cynthiadean19 born in 73. 80s all the way
OH that match is available 10/21/84 and it is pretty much as they described. Hawk was trying to drive them through the mat and really hitting them. To their credit they fought back and Steve was laying the chair shots on them pretty good. Crazy Hawk got blasted and then came back and got some more. Animal knew to get out of dodge.
The slams were bad but there’s one knee that Hawk threw that landed clean. Completely unprofessional
@@simplyphenomenal The Road Warriors were very green then, couldn't wrestle at all, they couldn't learn from whoever was trying to teach them (forgot who) and they were told to do whatever they wanted in the ring I think by Ole Anderson. Had nothing to do with being unprofessional at that time.
I loved watching these guys back in the day!
Pretty bad ass seeing these two talking about the old days
I really like there stories.
Both are icons!
I LOVE THE FABULOUS ONES!!! God i miss them. I remember watching these guys Tuesday night at Louisville gardens, the place would erupt when everybody wants you theme came on.
I loved going to the Louisville Gardens back in the day
Wow love your comments I two went every Tues at the Louisville gardens wish they still had wrestling down at the gardens
@@hermanwells8582 me to I live about 15 mins from the gardens its not the same anymore miss it
I saw their debut match against Jimm Hart's New York Dolls at the Gardens. What a place. So crowded that the piss trough was full and people were going in the sink. Two fisting 32 oz draft beers at 15. What ID. None needed.
I went on Tuesday to. I rem when the fabs said that we the fabs turned on them when they got beat by the road warriors I miss the fabs .
Would have loved to be in a tag team with Steve kiern. He is great
Steve looks like Tommy Lee Jones.
Guys like HBK owe a lot to this team
Great Interview!
Love Steve Kern... great teacher too
Great story from a great duo who deserve to be in the HOF. Sad to hear that the Warriors were asses to them by refusing to do the job.
Yeah they believed their own hype at that point forgetting that people sell for them and many guys could wrap them up like a pretzel, such as Hennig
One of my favorite stories! Hilarious!
I was at that show in PR, I was mad as the road warriors, I wanted the match go longer, the venue he mention it's next where the match was. It was in 1986
Steve Keirn is unrecognizable without a beard
He looks younger now than he did in the 80's.
When I was a kid in the 70s Steve Kiern was one of my top favorite wrestlers down here in Florida on NWA with Gordon Solie. He was such a great worker, loved his flying forearm and sleeper hold. I've got to look up more of his vid.
The Fabulous Ones came to the AWA in 1984. Later that year when Vince bought Georgia The Road Warriors went to the AWA. The Road Warriors just didn’t want to put anyone over at this stage of their career.
Wow, Stan looks a lot different from how I remember as a WWE talent in '94/'95.
I would love to meet these guys someday
These guys were/are the best!!!
LMAO @10:18. "What's going on?" Sounds like his character Skinner would say.
Yeah it's on UA-cam. Awesome
Great shoot
LEGENDS
Sweet Stan and Skinner!!! 😋
Doink!
Great stuff
Stane lane became Sweet Stan and his career took as a member of ladies and gentlemen the greatest high flyer and the sultan of swing Beautiful Bobby and Sweet Stan The Midnight Express!!!
Need to see the wrestling match with Steve Keirn and Pat Song when Steve broke Pak Song’s leg and called it sweet revenge because Steve’s leg was broken by Pak Song in a previous match
That was awesome.
Dan Spivey took a chair to the Road Warriors too for real.
Great tag team!
Great story!
Loved the FABS. always wanted to meet them
Under rated tag team
The Fabs were great in Memphis. I was shocked to see Stan replace Dennis in the Midnight Express years later.
@Colin Killian Sure, we know that now...30 -some odd years later, but I turned on the TV one Saturday and found Stan standing next to Bobby, and was flumoxed. No looser leaves town, no bought out contract, no angle...just Dennis gone, Stan there.
Great story! 👍
Ha! Ha! Ha!
Keirn & Lane outsmarted the Warriors twice! Brains over Brawn... Ha! Ha! Ha!
The fabulous ones vs road warrior in Puerto Rico you can see it WWC Classics.including the bushwackers.

Is that Battle Royal on UA-cam? Great story.
Top 5 all time
The movie he is referring to is The Warriors.
Is that match on UA-cam hidden away somewhere? I can't find it.
Post the entire interview PLEASE !!!
Hell sweet Stan lane is ric flair wrestling student n bestfriends
Back then the Bushwackers were the Sheepherders.
There's a walking tall movie with Kevin Sorbo and Stan Lane looks like one of the bad guys.
Nice Freemason shirt
there is a match on youtube with Japanese commentary that has Keirn attacking Hawk with a chair. It might be the one he's talking about.
Stan is cool
Steve Kiern has feckin giant cojones
I used to love The Road Warriors. The more I learn about them, the less respect I have for them.
I kinda feel the same way as you. Apparently, they were just bullies and cried when they didn't get their way. Sad.
Hawk was a fucking racist. I saw him in a video making racist remarks
Cyr Black everyone was racist stupid.
@@slipper409 bullshit
I can understand. I get the impression that they were very unprofessional.
Trivia fact...when Steve Keirn wrestled in Florida, Vince Mcmahon Sr. wanted to push someone from Florida to be WWF Champion. Keirn was suggested but Bob Backlund was chosen instead.
Luis Allende yeah I heard Sr. told Graham he could make anybody a star.
Damn, Stan Lane looks nothing like he did during his Midnight Express days with Bobby Eaton. WOW!!! What a transformation!!!
Biff Roberts he looks pretty good. It's been 30 years
Not saying he don't Just saying he looks different from his days in the Midnight Express. I have a photo of him on his card in the NWA wrestling game I have & that's what I based my initial post on.
Biff Roberts I dig it.
the fabs dropped the bomb on me
reinforces what i had heard about the road warriors; they were bullying assholes.
Want to see a good match? Check out Fabulous Ones against Masa Saito and Nick Botwinkel
did this match make it onto youtube?
8:25 mark Kiern was mad after that body slam. ua-cam.com/video/MUZJ7U--H9w/v-deo.html
the faboulous ones were better than what either one of you did after that
This is the match with the Road Warriors they are discussing where the Roadies changed the finish.
Watch Keirn when he gets slammed for the last time....he's not a happy camper.
ua-cam.com/video/MUZJ7U--H9w/v-deo.html
Here is the match in Minneapolis vs. the Road Warriors: ua-cam.com/video/MUZJ7U--H9w/v-deo.html Good quality with Japanese commentary overdubbed.
Confirmation Hogan might have accidently told the truth
Man, they were beat down by father time! Holy shit! Skinner looks almost unrecognizable!!
Thomas Schneider What were you expecting, Keirn's last match as Skinner was 25 years ago. They look pretty good for guys who were last seen in the spotlight in the early 90's.
Jonathan Turbide
You're right, it's just crazy as they were such a huge part of my childhood and I have such a burned in image of them in my head, that I honestly was shocked it was them. But trust me, I WORSHIP The Fabs!
Thomas Schneider Haha no worry my friend, I totally understand! Particularly if, as you said, you were still seeing them as the guys they were in the 80's, understandable! 😊👍✌
Sadly true, Father Time is one opponent ON ONE can ever beat
Wow so didn't realize that's Skinner!
Here's the match from PR they are talking about ua-cam.com/video/d-gp7-CsmBg/v-deo.html
The only tag team to win the NWA, AWA and WWF tag team titles, the only tag team to win Pro Wrestling Illustrated tag team of the year 3 years in a row, at a combined weight of 565 lbs, from Chicago Illinois the most dominating tag team in the history of professional wrestling HAWK AND ANIMAL, THE ROAD WARRIORS!!!!
In a real street fight they'd kick our ass..Sure!!😂😂
if it was true they would have done it that night.. there were nothing stopping them the fact is there seems to be much more to the story and behind it
I use to have a big crush on Stan Lane back in day and my cousin she had a big crush on Steve Keirn
Here's the match ua-cam.com/video/MUZJ7U--H9w/v-deo.html Hawk wanted nothing to do with that chair
Here's the match in Puerto Rico with interference from the Sheepherders. The look on Hawk's face is priceless!
ua-cam.com/video/Oxiq1sH4e8k/v-deo.html
That shit hurt, when they lost the belts as the midnight express to the road warriors. What manager (Jim Cornette), signs their team up for that shit?
It’s the booker. Managers are kayfabe!
Weird they were never big on the national stage.
Funny...
He forgot the kick to the gut....lol
EVERYBODY WANTS YOU!! da nana da nana da nananana da nana
The Road warrior's destroyed the fabulous ones and took the awa world tag team belts
The Road Warriors, God rest their souls, were a couple of big blowed up wussbags sometimes. They were all tough when it came to not losing a match, but it would always end with them leaving. Then the older they got the less confrontational they got similar to Hogan. Then leave all but crying, even if it meant leaving to another continent like they would do just to avoid the Steiners.
I was on board and believed every word until Kern brought up Von Raschke. Im sorry, but in 1984, Joe or Mike (road warriors) would wipe the floor with ole Baron
Baron was a legit shooter and tougher than people gave him credit for.
Actually it was.....LEAVE THE KID ALONE!!!!
LEAVE THE KID ALONE.
Skinner was scared..lol
Is this the match they are talking about...ua-cam.com/video/Oxiq1sH4e8k/v-deo.html
