  • Want to Green up your Lawn?
    In this video I will show you a SIMPLE and FAST way to make your Lawn DARK DEEP GREEN.
    In the first section we cover how fertilizer can help green up your lawn and fall lawn care is the best time to fertilize. Fertilizing does more to improve an ugly lawn than any other management practice. Fertilizer will produce a dense thick, dark green lawn that will keep weeds out and handle stress better. Be careful not to apply excessive amounts of fertilizer or it can lead to fertilizer burn. The recommended application rate is 2-6 pounds of nitrogen per year usually split up into monthly applications during the growing season. In this video we apply 1 pound of nitrogen which will lead to a noticeable green up in the lawn.
    The second application we make is liquid Iron. Iron is Important in chlorophyll formation, photosynthesis, and nitrogen metabolism which will lead to an even more darker green lawn. Iron will give your lawn a blueish hue which will make it stand out from the rest of the lawn on the block.
    We can apply all the fertilizers in the world but nothing will green up a lawn more than WATER. Most lawns need 1 to 2 inches of water per week either from rain or irrigation. It is important to water deep and infrequent rather than light and frequent. Your weekly waterings can either be applied during a single watering or into two waterings during the week. See the video below for a quick synapsis on how to water.

Before and after photos are nice, which a lot of people do, but sometimes they're not taken at the same time of day or one is sunny and other is cloudy. I’m tying to find info that pertains to South Dakota . . I am 100% enjoying your videos . Our home sits on 2 acres . We have 17 acres . But we mow the 2 acres . I have not found a way to measure and leave out the 4 buildings . I am excited to make our rural acreage yard thick and dark green . We took out 40 trees 15 years ago and we just took out another 45 . So there are weird levels of hole type areas . So the leveling and all that and the deep green are my goals for 2022 . It’s not freezing here yet so I think there is something I can do to help make it through the winter . 🤓

      @@PrincessCutLawnCare George, When I had my lawn aerated by a company, it caused a lot of ruts from the heavy machine in my turf. The lawn was pretty wet to begin with, and I was dealing with some shallow roots from sod webworm damage. It kinda “tore” up my lawn more than I expected. Even though my lawn is growing in nicely from the overseed, I can feel how uneven it is. It’s pretty much throughout the lawn and leveling it at the time of overseed was not an option. Will it kinda fix it itself over time?

    HELP HELP HELP!!! Hey George, love your videos man. I’m under the gun and need quick advice. I live in Utah and have 9K of KBG. It’s all in good shape as I spend a lot of time and effort on my lawns but I’ve had a bad thatch problem in my backyard with some places having over an inch of thatch. This week I spent all day Tuesday dethatching and scarifying and all day weds aerating and picking up the cores. All in preparation to level with sand and overseed. The city is turning off the water mid next week so I’m trying to get everything done ASAP. On Thursday I leveled my front yard with sand. Later that night it started raining and it’s been off and on raining since. It’s supposed to clear up tomorrow but be raining and possibly snowing Mon - Weds next week. I’m not sure what to do about overseeding. Normally after you level with sand that’s damp/wet you’d wait until it dries and then work it down into the canopy of the grass. When I put the sand down the other day it was damp and I used a landscape rake to comb it and work it down into the canopy the best I could. I also used a drag mat so I feel like I worked it down in the grass pretty good. The sand is still really wet from the rain so it’s not drying out giving me the chance to work it down into the canopy any more. I bought 5-iron Perennial Rye from unitedseeds.com. Here’s my question…I really want to get this seed down and roll it in but I don’t know if that’s a good idea. I’m afraid if I don’t do it now the weather might not give me another break to get it down before it gets too cold. Am I okay to seed into the sand and roll it in even though the sand is wet and hasn’t fully worked itself down into the canopy? I’m just not sure what I should do. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

    • @PrincessCutLawnCare
      @PrincessCutLawnCare  2 роки тому

      Thanks bud!
      You will really want to work that sand in before you seed because you don’t want to disturb it while it’s germinating.
      How much sand is covering the grass? Is it completely buried?

    • @TheCureThatKillz
      @TheCureThatKillz 2 роки тому +1

      @@PrincessCutLawnCare no it’s not completely covered. I spent hours trying to work it down into the canopy with my landscape rake but it was damp so it wasn’t getting down in there as well as it would if it were dry. Some areas have more grass poking out than others but there is a fair amount of grass showing.

    • @PrincessCutLawnCare
      @PrincessCutLawnCare  2 роки тому

      @@TheCureThatKillz you will want to make sure it drys and you work it in because the seeding window is closing and there might be a chance some of the rye grass will not take… then you’ll be stuck will bare spots so better to ensure the leveling is complete before seeding

    Great vid with excellent tips and info George. I love this time of the year for us cool season grass people , great to see the green up and the grass really thriving coming out of the very tough summers up north.
    I just finished a bit of a reno myself a few weeks ago and the conditions have been great for success. I have KBG & PRG seedlings all over the place (first time using Barenbrug seeds) and the existing grass looks great at the moment. The overnight and morning dew this time of the year is also very helpful , especially for seeding with the grass moist until basically 11 am most days is such a bonus. Working outside in the lawn in these temps is so much more enjoyable as well. Wish the weather could be like this all the time.
