I don't hate that they cast Liam Hemsworth as Geralt. That's not an issue for me. My issue is that the show just isn't any good. The showrunners and writers don't respect the source material enough. They admitted that they don't like the books or video games. The biggest issue in my view is how often Geralt gets lost in the shuffle of his own show. He's practically a secondary character in each season. In that regard, I don't see Liam Hemsworth making a huge impact as Geralt. He'll likely be a carbon copy of Henry Cavill. But that won't be his fault. He's literally picking up the role from a previous actor. He's probably gonna be forced to copy Henry's performance in the first three seasons. Which would be a total disservice to Liam in the end. He won't get to stand out in any particular way.
I imagine the only reason Netflix didn't cancel this the moment Henry left is due to contractual agreements they couldn't get out of; for example: Velma. There's no other reasonable explanation in my mind to keep this ridiculous farce going. I hope Liam laughs all the way to the bank because he gets nothing else out of trying to follow up Henry, plummeting views/reviews, and the inevitability of cancelation.
No they can always get outta contract. They just have to pay the full money per contract. That's what HBO did when they decided to cancel Westworld they had to pay out all the actors and writers. Netflix is going to wait to see how fans respond. If people still watch it then it'll get renewed. The last 3 seasons have all ranked top 10. But viewership has declined each season even with Henry Cavill. At some point the numbers might not be enough.
Given the state of Hollywood "writing" these days, I think NO studio should be paying for more than 1 year of a show, until the writers can prove that they aren't complete fools.

Honestly, Cavill and Hemsworth are too good looking to play Geralt in my mind. Cavill was a great fit because of his passion not necessarily his look. Hemsworth will do fine in the second fiddle role and no one will watch it. Nothing to do with him and everything to do with the toxicity of the show runners and writers who are the people who should have been fired.
It'd be cool if this was actually Elric of Melnibone, the character Geralt was ripped off from, justified by "in every universe there's a legend of a white haired man who holds fate in his hands" or some such nonsense. The funny thing is that in my opinion Liam Hemsworth actually looks closer in the face to the game depiction of Geralt. That however doesn't help with the show devolving into the Ciri and Yennefer show, fanfic nonsense.
"fanfic nonsense" have you read the books? In the core series, Ciri is as much a protagonist as Geralt, especially as the books progress. The show is garbage, yeah, and departs from the source material horribly, but not because it focuses so much on Ciri.
@@stephengrant4841 You're assuming that is my main issue or reason for my use of the term 'fan fiction'. It's not.
