Poor writing and directing can have a huge impact on the quality of any show or film. And actors can often be pigeon-holed into playing the same type of role over and over again. I don't think it's fair to blame actors for poor writing, direction, or lack of diversity in the roles they are offered.
Can you elaborate on this comment it seems you're rating you don't like korena netizens but then add quotation marks? Besides everyone is entitled to an opinion that's what's we refer to as "free speech"
@@likhwezititus well i think you got the wrong idea i am not against them criticizing the actors or actresses it is just that they say shit on everything they did or have like if any actor makes a small mistake they make fuss like he did a frekin crime and to add on idk why but they all think they are superior people and they can order the actors to do anything. And the quotation mark is like being sarcastic 😅

These people Korean netizen are just horrible people they keep sending their celebs to their early graves and they never learn... Don't let anyone come here and start justifying Korea and making you feel as if you're wrong with your words... because you're 100% correct
So not true and so demeaning and disgusting - this pushes actors over the edge. Give the actors some grace. Sometimes the script and direction is terrible.
This channel likes belittiling actors and celebrities in general. Actors will act according to the characters their given. Honestly people should give them a break. Song Hye Kyo Park Seojun and Park Minyoung can't believe they made the list.
Great acting can be hard to achieve with a clunky script and bad direction. Plus not every role will be a winner. Park Seo Joon is amazing and to have him on this list is completely nuts.
well tbh i don't think min young's acting has declined it is just she is not taking challenging roles like song hye kyo did but i you see her rom coms well you can clearly see whenever she comes on screen she outshines everyone
Min Young coached Na In Woo on how to do romantic scenes...so yes her experience is definitely shining through. But I wouldn't say she outshines Lee Yi Kyung and Song Ha Yoon. Both gave great performances and were one of the reasons I kept watching Marry my Husband. Even Park Shin Hye has improved from the last role I saw of hers, which was Pinnochio (2014) vs. Dr. Slump (2024). I don't really care if actors act in the same roles or not because I like romcom...if they did take a different role, I might not necessarily watch it. My first drama of Park Hyung Sik was Strong Girl Do Bong Soon...and I skipped straight to Doctor Slump for his next drama because I got this feeling his character would be similar to his character in Strong Girl Do Bong Soon. I know he had acted in Soundtrack, Happiness and even a historical drama but they didn't interest me the way Dr. Slump did. I'm not too into apocalyptic dystopian type stories. I used to read Highschool of the Dead but never made it through to the end of the story. My approach to film is that the acting is satisfactory if it can get me into the story, which is a team effort of cinematorgraphy, screen play and visual effects, sound effects/music, dialogue and finally acting/chemistry. Any one of these fails...the production will fail. The one reason why I never watched the Heirs...I couldn't get past the bad acting in America in the first? episode. And it sounds a little too much like Boys over Flowers, of which I did not watch the Korean verson because by then I had seen 2 other versions already plus read the manga. There was also bad American acting in Heal Me Kill Me...but the anticpation of JiSung's performance got me through that 1st episode. I know these people are extras...but if they have dialogue, it wouldn't hurt to hire real actors for that. Only that blonde girl Abby was acting naturally...all the other foreigner students (sorry...but including Somi's dad) were not very natural and were clearly over "acting".
@@summertwinkle749 so you don't think actors should take different roles and always do the same characters? But then they are not acting, they are just acting themselves.. and you'll get tired of them quickly because they always act the same way and you can predict how they'll act
@@user-qf5pn1je2f Actors can choose to pick what they want to act in, even if a different type of role, but they should not be forced to do something clearly out of their bounds just to show acting chops. That's what I am trying to express with why I don't think taking on new roles necessarily mean that they are demonstrating they are good at acting. It's a double edged sword, pick a bad one and it makes it worse because 1) their acting skills clearly didn't make the cut and 2) performance is comparatively worse than before. So it gives off the impression that they regress when the reality is that they didn't have the chops in a different genre but they'd probably do just fine if they stuck with an old genre they were used to. It's like asking a action actor to act out a romance drama (though that's an extreme example) but clearly they will be bad at it and then they get criticized for being bad at it when their strength is action sequence. That's why stunt doubles even exist, it'd be very hard for an actor to even get to the same level in a short period of time. The delivery of the production is not just the actor, but also the sound effects, the directing, whether they decide to zoom in or out, whether to repeat the flash back or a scene, whether to act out a thought or not. This is now no longer just in the realm of acting but every bit of that production tells the story as much as 'acting' does. In other words...good acting can also be influenced by good directing. And they are not supposed to be acting themselves anyway, every role within a romcom should still be different unless they have the exact same background and personality. If the actors are truly good, they should be able to deliver a character that is different from the character before. You shouldn't be able to just predict a character...the fact that you can has less than to do with acting but more to do with story-writing. That's why people keep mentioning the "cliche" female with "cliche" poor girl/rich guy drama. Those do become predictable because there are so many of them. You can only give these type of characters a finite type of personality.
Don't hate me but I think both Song Kang and Ahn hyo seop are very bad actors ..they over acts so much ...their voice modulation is so bad ..both of them continued to get works especially sing kang like this man is so irritating in his acting
@@hayo6285 which could convey the emotions of character in more realistic and intensely way to the audience .in over acting , actors don't feel the emotions of the character rather they just copying the emotions on surface level. Honestly I don't think it's the acting I think it's the production. It is hard to turn a turd into a diamond and that was the scripts that alot of these entertainers were dealing with.
I think the quality of the storyline and script have a lot to do with this. Also, similar plot lines in many series become boring to the audience. Overexposure is another problem, but I can understand taking on as many roles as you’re offered while you’re still young.
I agree that Song Hye Kyo is an overrated actress, she has this stoic look when she acts and no facial expression like her face was just frozen, the same goes with Park Min Young. I think their looks are the reason why they became famous.
@@Pearl882 I didn't like her at first, but have you seen her in My Beautiful Life. I really loved her in that (it's a movie which I've watched several times now).
Seo joon's movie dream and concrete utopia he was amazing as always. Bo gum and song hye kyo are one of the best actors . As for park shin hye i personally did not like memories of Alabama but she is an amazing actress. For those criticizing cha eun woo guys check out his new dramas he surely has improved a lot give them a chance dont pass the verdict so quickly 😅
I liked Seo joon before in Fight My Way and his previous shows.. but I couldn't stand his awful acting until Gyeongseong Creature. It just felt so unnatural and honestly, the role didn't fit him either. Although I'm not a fan of Song Jong Ki but hell, he is the definition of versatile. Seo Joon should learn a thing or two from him. Gyeongseong creature material was WASTED because of how unbearable the lack of acting talent Seo joon has in this types of roles. 😒
As usual i cant agree with netizens. I guess its because im a western watcher i find these actors are amazing because they work so much and i find it hard to say they didnt look outstanding. Korean dramas are constantly being filmed and some actors who are indemand have to go from making a period drama to a rom com instantly or go from being in the military and than a drama. I think netizens forget these actors and actresses are human. Instead of picking each drama apart looking for what is wrong or noct up to what they expect, they should enjoy the story. I find all the actors and actresses you mentioned very good at telling the story. I cant say i was ever disappointed in any drama or movie they were in.
So the problem here is not their acting skills it’s just that the work they get isn’t what people expect or want them to be cause as you can see the glory, Marry my husband, itaewon class, gyeogseong creature were loved they got the recognition the actors were in the character I just can’t get myself to understand the point mentioned by you in the video except the one about park shin hye ya she isn’t a good actor she doesn’t brings emotions to the audience it’s all what I think no hate
i've noticed a lot of sk actors-especially those considered among the most beautiful-have a wooden acting face. when they talk, they try to minimize the movement of their mouths; when they cry, it's usually just a sob-cry; when they get angry, they raise their voices but their faces only show slight annoyance, like they make very minimal facial expressions. i think it's because they prioritize their looks over their artistry. they don't want to develop labial folds, frown or laugh lines. they're not real artists but posers who want to get paid big bucks by doing the bare minimum and are satisfied with just being called looking-younger-than-their age and pretty.

Actually I agree about Song Hye Kyo, Park Shin Hye, Park Min Young and also Park Seo Jun. They have amazing looks and amazing screen presence. But they get comfortable in their image and continue doing the same kind of roles again and again. It feels like they get into a rut and go through the motions like a robot. After I time their off screen personas eclipse their roles and we only ever see them as a celebrity and not an actor. After watching Ji Chang Wook, Jun Ji Hyun, Kim Ji Won, Shin Hye Sun on screen, I think the above actors are a bit mediocre and have gotten into a rut. Although, Song Hye Kyo is on the upward rise again which makes me believe there's hope after all.
unsubscribing this channel bcz the author doesn't understand the basics of the entertainment industry. And the one criticizing these actors, what are you doing in your life that's worthwhile? Do what's good for your life before advising these artists what to do.
Do the actors choose their roles or is it their agency? If there is a misstep, I would put it completely at the feet of the agencies. Also, the audiences need to expand their tastes as well. They’re at least a bit closed minded & judgmental.
Personally, there are some actors that I feel are kind of emotionless and/or their acting feels untalented, boring and fake....Lee Dong Wook, Park Seo Joon, Kim So Hyun, Cha Eun Woo, Rowoon...etc. But, that's just me...
Y'all are just recycling old comments, for clicks Song hye kyo has proven she's great when the script is up to pair . Y'all are being messy for no reason
First of all even with a bad script & dialogue & bad direction a good actor can still pull off his role & give a great performance. I have seen this many times where everything is bad about a Kdrama or even a film but there is an actor that stands out because they were still good. So everyone here is just making up excuses for their faves bad acting. I have to agree about Park Seo joon I loved him in Itaewon class but he gets worse with every performance. His acting in Gyeongseong Creature is really bad & it is true there is no chemistry with the FL. Also saw his movie Dream which was supposed to be a warm, uplifting & inspiring film. But his acting was so flat & unconvincing I really did not care about his character that is a failure for that type of film. You are supposed to care & root for them but I did not. Good acting makes you forget that it is so & so actor doing the role you start to see them as that character. Well with PSJ lately I can see only PSJ the actor trying to be that character he does not convince me in his roles at all.
I still disagree that good acting can overcome bad script, bad dialogue and bad direction. I watched PSJ and Hwang Jung Eum twice, once in Heal Me Kill Me and the other time in She Was Pretty. I like their interaction in Heal Me Kill Me more and they were not even playing romantice interests. But somehow I like their chemistry more than in She Was Pretty where they were the romantic interests. I didn't understand the hype of She Was Pretty and I watched all the adaptations in Chinese and Japanese. And people said the Japanese version was better and I agree...except for the part that the female lead did not revert to natural self at the end. The main beef I had with the k-drama was characterization. I felt like ML seemed like a different character at the beginning of the show vs end of show Characters do change...but the change should be supported by the story plot...but I felt like the storytelling failed to demostrate the character's inner turmoils properly which I think is due to lack of monologues and possibly dialogues. It's funny how the Chinese version expands the dialogue but overdoes it so there is too much talking and I find the acting there and chemistry even worse off than in the Korean version. But at least I feel like I understood the characters better. If facial emotions and body gestures are all you need to communicate, there wouldn't be so much miscommunications. So dialogue/monologue is important. Screen write/script is important. The story telling is the most importnat. The actors are portraying a character that is a cumulation of the character's background, action, motivation, speech, the way/tone they speak etc. So if the characterization of the character cannot even be done well at the story board stage...then are you suggesting that the actor can play the role of the director, screen play etc.? I know some actors do adlibs...but they still revolve around a central plot. I didn't watch any of the shows you watched so not going to comment on PSJ acting any further. As for what pulled me to watch Heal Me Kill Me was JiSung and I like PSJ's character in Heal Me Kill Me. Basically I like everything about Heal Me Kill Me...except some of the loose ends were still loose. But overall, it had a good balance of angst and random comedy, enough for me to get over Hwang Jung Eum high-pitched voice.
@@summertwinkle749 I liked Kill me, Heal me too it is a very good drama Jisung is so good he gives a master class in acting. PSJ is passable in this drama. In She was pretty there was again no chemistry with FL & actually I had 2nd lead syndrome I loved the 2nd ML & his chemistry with the FL I wanted them to end up together. In Fight for my Way he was ok too but I find his chemistry with the FL more like a sibling than a lover especially when they were in bed together it was so lacking in sexual tension. Everyone carries on about this couple's hot chemistry in this drama but I did not feel it rather the opposite. My favourite drama of PSJ is Itaewon class he was really good in it. But I have to say once again there was no chemistry with the FL although I loved the whole storyline & acting. I found him also good in Hwarang. I personally think he is going from more to less in his acting for some reason I don't know why. Actors should evolve & try to grow in their acting I think he has stayed stagnant & maybe lost some confidence in himself maybe? You are right that to have a good drama you need everything you said good direction, writing & dialogues. But what I am talking about is not the drama or movie but about that a top actor with maximun acting talent he can still pull off his role despite other aspects of the drama/movie not being optimal. And it is for the very reasons you mentioned before & that is facial expressions, eye expressions & body gestures the great actor can make his character believable just with these skills & without even talking. They can even make that role memorable despite the rest of the drama or movie being flawed or not up to standard. Hope you get my meaning I am only referring to the actor & his character & how his acting alone if he is a great actor can still pull of that role in an amazing way. I am not referring to the actual drama/movie which overall needs all that you mentioned to be good or great in its entirety.
@@Tewoo305 I sorta understand what you mean. Perhaps I'm more of a big picture person and so would naturally disregard acting talent on its own. I watch drama for the story and character, and if applicable, the visuals, so acting is really not a priority for me if the acting can carry the story and character through to the end. I guess I don't recognize very good acting unless I can observe it and would weigh in a lot of other factors not directly related to the actor. Since the directors are calling the shot, I think even the director has some influence on how the "acting" turns out. So you would be right in saying if the performances are consistent across multiple projects, the actor would be a good actor. I agree Jisung's acting was very good in Heal Me Kill Me. Some exaggerations are required in drama but he does not overdo it. But I've been trying to watch Protect the Boss because he's in it but have dropped it twice because I can't get through the first episode with the female lead. The funny thing is I have a deja vu feeling the 2nd time I watched the 1st episode again because it felt like I have watched it before. I'm not sure if it's bad acting...or the female character setup itself.
@@summertwinkle749 Sure there are many factors that make a drama good or outstanding. But I think the acting is probably the most important. No matter how good the writing & direction & everything is if the acting is bad or the actors cannot convince you of their charscters nothing is going to save that drama. I have been watching Avatar The last Airbender & I think the acting is disastrous sure their mainly kids or young actors but they seem so unconvincing in their characters it is awful. But I have seen some amazing child actors so I guess it is bad casting. For example Korean child actors always amaze me with their acting they are so good. So good acting for me is fundamental in making a drama worth watching. Sure a director can have a lot to do with how well acting comes out. But a talented or great actor can achieve a good performance even with bad direction.
@@Tewoo305 Acting is important in order to convey the story. As long as the main leads including the villain can pull the story through, that's good enough. That is the only reason why I personally don't put acting as the most important. Characterization is not just about actions and dialogue from actor but also how to convey thoughts, intentions, and personality through the screen. The actors are not the only ones that dictate how personality is portrayed since a large part come from the story itself and what the character background is. The actors then use facial expressions, how they say/deliver the lines, and how they do or not do certain actions to bring the character to life. So I would say 55% acting, 25% dialogue, 5% wardrobe and style and 20% plot driven characterization/development is used to bring a character to life. The director and screenplay does influence how the viewer interprets the actions of the actor because of close ups and angles. If they need to emphasize a facial expression, it's not the actor that's making it visible but the close up of the camera. With just actors being good at acting but with a bad script, then what exactly are they acting out that's worth watching? There has to be at least some aspect of either the character or the story that is worth watching to the end. Then that script is not that bad that you can stomach the bad script. It's about relativity. Some goods thing can offset the bad things and as long as the good outweigh the bad enough, you won't drop it. In other words, I can stomach "bad acting" as long as the story can still be conveyed in its essence. If better actors do a remake of the same story, then I'll definitely rewatch it and would anticipate it. Maybe because I used to read a lot of fictions as much as I used to watch TV so I don't need visual stimuli to keep me hooked. But I appreciate good visuals, good delivery and good editing of sound and music. If the story is good and the acting is bad...I will still pull through it for the story if it's good enough. But I just can't imagine any scenario when there is good acting and I will still keep watching even though the story is going downhill. I can stand non-logical stories (I accept TV magic) as long as the actors can make it work. But if the story is so bad that it's unwatchable...I will drop it because there's no way good acting can save that. I would rather watch a good story with bad acting as long as they can convey/tell the story properly. Also I never watched the movie you brought up so it's not a relevant example for me to comment on. I guess my example would be the Heirs (though this is limited to the episode where Lee MinHo was at the beach surfing in America). I always found the foreigners they put in K-drama not very good actors. They act very fake and not genuine/natural..so it makes me feel like I'm watching a highschool play. So I never got past that episode and just decide to skip the whole drama. The scenes and what I know about the main leads kinda just remind me of Boys Over Flowers and I've watched that story 3 times already (excluding the Korean version), so I dropped the Heirs and did not regain any interest in watching now even though I keep seeing clips floating around. It has nothing to do with acting of the main leads...but just using an example to show that the story is more important for me. I get what you're saying but I think my tolerance for bad acting is very high. Very bad acting for me...is the foreigners at the beach.
Some people are too harsh on their celebrities, not all the time people would excel in their field, it called being human to err is human and it's not for us to judge after all they are just actors, sometime the script is not well written so please give these people some slack. Don't worry be happy
Unpopular opinion, Kim Won Hae is not pretty or popular but he's one of the best actors and very versatile of SK. In Strong Woman Do Bong Soon he played 2 total different characters!! I've never laughed so much and was literally in tears watching him. He has appeared in many popular films and television dramas and always delivers.
I just want Min Young to play a villain role. But her acting is always great. I think she's just been type cast. Since she has great chemistry in romance.
Fault-finding must be a hobby of K-Netz. You guys are the most unappreciative group of audience, ever. It's like you don't view your entertainers as humans
Where’s cha eun woo???? My man is fine as hell but has a terrible acting. I don’t know if it’s the roles he gets but he doesn’t seem like he is improving a lot. Try looking beyond the handsome face😭😭😭😭
For me, some of the greatest korean actors are Namgoong Min and Seo In Guk. I just feel like watching a normal regular human being instead of a character whenever they act😁
The first big break for Park Shin Hye was You're Beautiful with Jang Keun Suk. I really like her in it. She did a good job portraying the character. I think most of the characters, especially the female ones, were good at portraying young youthful roles, so now that they are older, unless they challenge themselves with more complicated roles, and roles more fitting to their age, they will seem one dimensional and becomes boring
That kinda doesn't make sense...each character has its own dimensions. A good actor should be able to give you the feeling that you're seeing a different person for each character even if the characters do the same things because the personality and backgrond of each character is different. What you're saying is their acting portfolio is one dimensional due to lack of diversity...but their acting usually gets better with experience. I saw Shin Hye gave PD Na pointers on how to give the "shy girl" look right at the camera since the she was demonstrating the filming of a close up shot and she's very natural at it. Hyung Sik actually seems like he couldn't get into character the way Shin Hye did for some reason...his acting in the actual drama was better than if he had to do it on the spot without context. As for Shin Hye...I see her improvement in Doctor Slump. My drama history for her was Stairway to Heaven, You're Beautiful, Heartstrings, Pinnochio and Doctor Slump. She was criticzed for bad kiss scenes because her eyes are open and she seems frozen in place. But you won't see that in Doctor Slump. Even though she is bouncing between 30s and 18s in her role (well who hasn't even Min Young played both 30s and 20s in Marry my Husband) I think she played the part of an introvert well...she's radiating introvertedness. A true good actress should be able to play any role, old or young. In Oh My Ghost, I was impressed by the shaman lady...she really acted like a younger female ghost possessed her. Whereas I lament that Park Bo Young and Kim Seul Gi didn't really communicate well enough in the characterization of the ghost at the beginning...the ghost character wasn't very consistent at the beginning when they both acted her out and I almost gave up on the drama (due to other various reasons related to characterization and plot) but the latter half of the drama got way better.
Disagree totally, Park Bo Gum has always delivered excellent performance in line with the role he is given. Encounter is a great k drama, he did great with Song Hye Kyo who is a terrific actress. We cannot expect her to play teenage roles all her life, and she has been taking up roles fitting to her experience and age. Netizens and whoever take great length to comment and report negativities in roder to gain more views need to have their head examined.
Imo i feel unless in extreme cases the actors talent can be subjective like perosnally for me i had no idea that people found Bae Suzy to be a stiff actor i think shes excellent.🤷🏾♀️
Park Seo Joon did say during In the Soop (filmed around 2021/2022) that he doesn’t get excited about acting anymore as he used to. This is probably reflected in his more recent roles where his acting has “gotten worse” compared to his earlier dramas prior to being a mega star
I agree to this list 100%,,PMY is a good actress but her roles are all the same always office romance,PBG needs to choose better projects,PSH is not for romance plot she's just cringy in most of her scenes esp. Kissing scene(i like her more in actions like Alive or suspense thriller like The call),SHK has the same expressions in all her works,,its boring, the Glory was good because of her co stars esp.the main villain, they're very refreshing to watch,PSJ is just overhyped, not bad but not good..i have nothing against this actors,i understand that they are popular for a reason but this is just my opinion✌
8:43 I felt the admin is the one have a blanket approaches in analysing performance of actors and actresses. To be A drama critic , we demand your ability to highlight the boredom that you see in each drama. Not just describe with words to show failure. Especially with reference to what I noted in the role development of Patk min young from episode 1 to the very last episode, Park min yang always make that extra miles to bring the best of scripts of each of the drama she participates. and immerse herself in the roles. To critisize is easy but dont make summary and a blanket deduction. An excellent drama need culmination and mounting development for each of the character in the drama, it must built up with expectation and guessing games of the development of the chsracter of each of the castings and they must have the ability to criss-cross complement each of the role of the actors and actresses of the drama. As an andience . When you look forward and became impatient to each upcoming episode.. then it is an excellent drama. Dear admin,Please be intelligent enough to extract and analyse what you condider are the things that you consider failure or know how to categorise success to achieve justice.in your criticisms. The most recent drama of Park Min Young brought the best all the characters that resulting in they doing an excellent complement all the cast of each others' scripts. Or else you would not find the high rating of the drama..
Most actors aren't bad actors, they play the characters based on their understanding of the character and sometimes it doesn't matches with how the viewers understand the character. Some people keep mentioning Cha Eun Woo here even when the video has nothing to do with him at all, really shows that you guys just like hating on him. He simply doesn't do the over-active that majority of other young actors do. This video perfectly shows the difference between real acting and what you guys think acting is --> ua-cam.com/users/shorts8hyOytswrIs
The topic is acting that got worse over time. I believe that Cha Eun Woo’s acting has improved. He still has a long way to go but he’s headed in the right direction.
I personally feel it's also bcz these days scripts are pretty cringe. They are supposed to overact. I would say park hyusik is not as good as he used to be. I loved him in happiness, but in doctor slump his acting was off. Especially his expressions. Plus opposite him is park shinhye. She is a terrible actress. And people defend her a lot, but I can't bear her on screen.
Park Hyung Sik's acting is the same as when he did Strong Woman Do Bong Soon but actually toned down. They do overact to get some comedy in there. I don't mind the overacting because it's comedic relief and there's not really a lot of action going on anyway. Without it, people would grow quite bore with the plot...some already found it boring because it's slice of life genre and so close to our boring lives. I like Dr. Slump because it's not just depression all throughout at least; the first episode made me feel a little heavy hearted because the parallels to real life is so clear. I don't really wanna watch another Autumn Fairy Tale or 49 Days because they are so serious even though I did like the latter one very much, and these ones are clearly fictional...but Dr. Slump is extremely relatable. Of course, Dr. Slump could've just rely on dialogue to get that comedic relief but puns are not as easily understood as expressions. That's how Buffy the Vampire Slayer was written with a lot of clever puns and a little sarcasm at times. I don't think any drama can top Buffy in terms of writing and characterization and the characters. People actually write character analyses on the characters and debate about them like it's literature class and I haven't really seen this for any other drama ever. All of the characters have strengths and flaws and they actually grow. 16 episodes is honestly not enough to show real character growth so I'm not expecting to see anything that would give me the feeling "wow this is as good as Buffy the Vampire Slayer". The only thing Buffy doesn't have is sweet romance...so it's no romcom...more like action. I didn't watch Happiness because I don't like zombie theme drama. I read Highschool of the Dead and dropped it because it was very depressing and got boring after a while when it's pessimism all the time and any hope is false hope.
Overall the Kdrama content isn't as it used to be. 1. Compare historical dramas to how the used to be. 2. Compare romantic dramas, same way. 3. Compare action storys. The acting, the directing, the story etc. It's become so superficial.
Park Shin hye is not my favorite either. She is too melodramatic. Knetizens have every right to give constructive criticism to kactors. After all, it's their country's actors. They were the only audience who really watched these actors grow. So to completely shut off, knetizen's opinion is not right.
If the drama itself is not good, why think an actor can make it worth watching ?They can only do so much, but if the drama script and story line is bad, no matter how good those who are in it its impossible to make it good
I quickly get tired of the perfect and beautiful actors, even if they don't have outstanding talents like Kim so Hyun or Lee doo Hyun ;-) the dramas get boring quickly, in fact there are many of the same acts in almost all dramas. :-( There is no big hype about the really good actors like Oh Jung See, Lee Sung Min or Kim Mi Kjung etc. like Cha Eun Woo or Rawoon (both of which only look good anyway)
Actors follow directions, most of them don’t have a say in how to deliver a scene, so it’s unfair to put all the blame on them. Bad script, bad director won’t make a good movie even if the actors are good. A great actor can’t save a bad script
Wrong actors have a say,,most of the time actors collaborate with their fellow actors and their directors to improve their scenes,,you can give opinions and suggestions,,most of the directors actually encourage and respect this type of relationship,,you can see that with other actors and works
Why does improvement in acting have to be demonstrated by doing different roles? If people like watching a specific character, they want to see more of that kinda of character. Rarely do people who like watching action decides to watch a romance...so why does an actor have to do action and also do romance to prove their acting got better. If the actors play the same type of role but manage to portray each character with their own personality, they they are good actors. I thought 49 days had some of the best acting I've seen. The main female lead really convinced me that someone else inhabited her body. On the other hand, Park Bo Young in Oh My Ghost being posessed and the actual ghost actress didn't have the greatest chemistry, sometimes I feel like they are not fully the same person...maybe they should have worked out their main ghost character personality more carefully first so that the acting is more seamless even with a posession. But after watching PBY's cameo in Strong Girl Nam Soon...I really think her acting improved again because her facial expression got even more expressive and is fitting of her old character from 7 years ago. Honestly, acting is just one thing but if the script/directoring/cinematography is not up to par, just having the actors are very useless. I think this is likely an unpopular opinion but I actually like Hwang Jung Eum and Park Seo Joon's chemistry in Kill Me Heal Me even though they are not playing love interests more than them as main leads in She Was Pretty. She Was Pretty was remade a lot...but I thought there's something missing from that drama so I didn't have it at the top of my potential rewatch list. Don't get me wrong, I think their acting is good...because I watched She Was Pretty right after Kill Me Heal Me and I would not think She Was Pretty was a continuation of the characters from Kill Me Heal Me. I just the think the script was not well-written enough. They could've used monologues more but didn't which I think was a lost opportunity to show better character depth. Honestly, I think her friend was terrible for doing what she did to the main female lead but if they wanted us to sympathize for her..well they didn't do a good enough job. They'd have to get it to the level of 49 Days for me to be impressed...because I did feel a wee bit bad for the bad guys in 49 Days.
Surely it all comes down to the quality of the script and the way the actors are directed to act. All of the actors featured in this video have been praised and have won awards for their acting. Too many times, actors are blamed for things beyond their control. Personally, I've really enjoyed the work of all of the actors in this video (some of them are my favourites - I adore Park Bo-gum) so I believe it's not their acting per se which is at fault in projects that are not well received by critics/audiences.
Song hye kyo ?no way.I believe SHK has most natural acting skills. no exaggeration but natural & unique.I love her acting I watched her drama's again & again with out bored❤
Poor writing and directing can have a huge impact on the quality of any show or film. And actors can often be pigeon-holed into playing the same type of role over and over again. I don't think it's fair to blame actors for poor writing, direction, or lack of diversity in the roles they are offered.

Park Seojun and Park Minyoung can't believe they made the list.

Exactly! they're some of the best and my personal favourites!
Great acting can be hard to achieve with a clunky script and bad direction. Plus not every role will be a winner. Park Seo Joon is amazing and to have him on this list is completely nuts.
Truth!!
A really good actor would make anything work though.
Exactly! Facts!

Agree
well tbh i don't think min young's acting has declined it is just she is not taking challenging roles like song hye kyo did but i you see her rom coms well you can clearly see whenever she comes on screen she outshines everyone
She taked almost the same type of characters just with different backgrounds
Park min young’s acting was incredible in her recent show Marry my husband. Park Shin hye also picked a good role with Doctor Slump
Sometimes its not even the a acting its the direction and writing actors work will only be good when they will be directed in a proper way
The list is just terribly wrong. You just wanted us to watch this.🤐

I find all the actors and actresses you mentioned very good at telling the story. I cant say i was ever disappointed in any drama or movie they were in.

Min young is unmatchable.... She should not be in this list
i've noticed a lot of sk actors-especially those considered among the most beautiful-have a wooden acting face. when they talk, they try to minimize the movement of their mouths; when they cry, it's usually just a sob-cry; when they get angry, they raise their voices but their faces only show slight annoyance, like they make very minimal facial expressions. i think it's because they prioritize their looks over their artistry. they don't want to develop labial folds, frown or laugh lines. they're not real artists but posers who want to get paid big bucks by doing the bare minimum and are satisfied with just being called looking-younger-than-their age and pretty.

I waited to see Cha eun hoo here
First of all even with a bad script & dialogue & bad direction a good actor can still pull off his role & give a great performance.
I have seen this many times where everything is bad about a Kdrama or even a film but there is an actor that stands out because they were still good.
So everyone here is just making up excuses for their faves bad acting.
I have to agree about
Park Seo joon I loved him in Itaewon class but he gets worse with every performance.
@@summertwinkle749
I liked Kill me, Heal me too it is a very good drama Jisung is so good he gives a master class in acting.
I am not referring to the actual
drama/movie which overall needs all that you mentioned to be good or great in its entirety.
@@summertwinkle749
Sure there are many factors that make a drama good or outstanding.
I really like song Hye kyo especially for her role in the glory. she did great by shifting generes.
I felt like Seo joon and So hee had great chemistry they even look so good together
I disagree with park seo jun opinion
He is really doing well
I just want Min Young to play a villain role. But her acting is always great. I think she's just been type cast. Since she has great chemistry in romance.
I was waiting for cha eunwoo
Fault-finding must be a hobby of K-Netz. You guys are the most unappreciative group of audience, ever. It's like you don't view your entertainers as humans
Some people say "this" some people say "that" lmao
Where’s cha eun woo????
My man is fine as hell but has a terrible acting. I don’t know if it’s the roles he gets but he doesn’t seem like he is improving a lot. Try looking beyond the handsome face😭😭😭😭
So we just gone act like The Glory wasnt a hit?
The drama staffs and editors, directors, stylists are who donate to the success of a work! Not only the artists !
Accept it
Where is Lee Min Ho ?? Should be in the list too
Disagree totally, Park Bo Gum has always delivered excellent performance in line with the role he is given.
Yes that's why I don't believe these toxic reviews. Suzy did great in doona watched entire only for her. She's great in all roles as far as I know.
Park Seo Joon did say during In the Soop (filmed around 2021/2022) that he doesn’t get excited about acting anymore as he used to. This is probably reflected in his more recent roles where his acting has “gotten worse” compared to his earlier dramas prior to being a mega star
He's in the industry for more than 10 years he's burned out
Thats why my man JCW will never make it on these lists 😅
Park shin hye’s kiss scenes are cringe I agree but I still love her and will watch any kdrama/movie she’s in
I agree to this list 100%,,PMY is a good actress but her roles are all the same always office romance,PBG needs to choose better projects,PSH is not for romance plot she's just cringy in most of her scenes esp.
Paek seojoon on this list just tells me everything i need to know about this crap video
The only problem I have with Bo Gum is that he has absolutely no sex appeal. Zero heat, which is a liability.
No Cha Eun Woo? He is the worst. K pop idols will ruin korean movie industry.
So true. He only takes on roles where he portrays a serious guy without much emotion or expression.
You judge too quickly. Not even considering the actor or actresses feelings
@@vaishnaviingle951 exactly, he always have one same face expression.
He depends on his face, his stocky eyes is not good for him ,
The topic is acting that got worse over time.
Why is she a terrible actress? Just curious cuz I don't know about acting
Korean media never let down when it comes to create a controversy story line ever 😂😂😂😂feel bad for all the stars out there. Lots of suicidal 😢😢
Park shin hye is not a good actress at all let's be real and she is fake to her fanbase the day she throw her fan presents in the bin was funny 😂😂😂😂..
Why is she not a good actress?
@hayo6285 I have watched her dramas, and I don't think her acting is good at all!!!
So no one watched “The Glory”? SHK was awesome in that.
I did! All the actors were amazing, in my opinion.
Overall the Kdrama content isn't as it used to be.
1. Compare historical dramas to how the used to be.
2. Compare romantic dramas, same way.
3. Compare action storys.
The acting, the directing, the story etc. It's become so superficial.
Really? Park Seojoon and Park Bogum?? Be fr. They're literally great actors.
If you are going to point out these actors then you better callout the writers and directors too.
Park Shin hye is not my favorite either. She is too melodramatic. Knetizens have every right to give constructive criticism to kactors. After all, it's their country's actors. They were the only audience who really watched these actors grow. So to completely shut off, knetizen's opinion is not right.
If the drama itself is not good, why think an actor can make it worth watching ?They can only do so much, but if the drama script and story line is bad, no matter how good those who are in it its impossible to make it good
Not a fan of Park Shin Hye, her acting is so so !
I love them all. Thanks for keeping me entertained.
While people are entitled to thier opinion I think some of these criticisms are just mean . By what criteria is a person acting skills compared to?
I Love Park Bo Gum is an amazing actor! I loved Encounter! He is awesome and thats it!
You should look in the mirror before sharing such lame gossip and judgement on others.
Don’t come for Park bo gum.
Exactly!
Stop being pretty and handsome. That's all. These actors are afraid to get bad angles on camera.
Song hye kyo ?no way.I believe SHK has most natural acting skills. no exaggeration but natural & unique.I love her acting I watched her drama's again & again with out bored❤
she only has a single expression.... she looks the same when she is sad, bored, angry, or jealous
I think Gong Yoo and Jang ki yong are the best korean actors. The female I don't appreciate much any of them they are bland
Can you tell me which drama I should watch for jang ki yong, I haven't watch any
I can honestly say this video is probably one of the worst from you guys 🙄
