The grain showing on each small piece really looks great (well it does to me a woodworker anyway). Hate to see it chopped on (Haha). I always like seeing your twin boys in your videos and especially when they are helping their Dad! Them putting on the glue was probably enjoyable (like painting) for them. Thanks for sharing.
Good thick board but oak splits easily on the end grain if this board is to be used for chopping shouldn't it have a deep horizontal spline around the perimeter?

Hello. Is Oak a good choice?? A problem with oak is that when it's bare (no finish of any kind), the tannic acid reacts with iron and causes dark stains. It will stain the wood, the food, your hands and it doesn't come off easily. I know you use mineral oil to finish your boards. But have you had any feedback on this cuttting board? Best regards. I think that European oak is the best choice for end grain cutting boards. Oil and beeswax make good protection. I sold several thousands oak boards, only positive feedback. My wife have all possible boards, but use mainly oak.:)

Tell me about it! i am an Olivewood turner and i always have bitter taste in my mouth at my shop... I have even grown to like it ! ((( As for oiling up my creations i use mineral oil and beeswax to seal it if i can. Take care mate!

Did you steam the end grain after sanding and then take back the raised grain? I didn't see it in the video, wondered if it had been edited out?

European oak is less porous than American white and red oak. Rotex 150 is very good.

We use European oak. It is less porous than American oaks. I think it is the best wood for end grain cutting boards. Even better than maple or walnut.
I love the look of oak, but be careful planing end grain bc it's very risky running it through the machine. Better to belt sand it.
