Can I just say Thank You, I’ve learned so much from you, your blog, insta and videos, so lovely of you to share your talents so they can become our new talents!!
Marian just LOVE LOVE LOVE IT. Please do more furniture painting videos. Your the QUEEN of milk paint painting and would love to see more furniture painted and where else the product can be applied. Thanks for sharing and love your product.
I'm new to Miss Mustard Seed paints. . . the best on the market. I will never go back to 2 others that I have been using...I'm also in love with Hemp oil...my new best friend...amazing how many things you can find in your home to apply Hemp oil to...results are great. Love all your videos...Thanks
I happened to stumpled upon your video and I can't tell you how happy this made me. I'm struggling with topcoats for my black coffee table and I need to move on. I just repainted the top again and scuffed sanded the brush marks. Can I now apply the hemp oil or do I need to put one last light coat of chalk paint on the table? Obviously i see the scuff marks and it makes me nervous to apply the oil not knowing if you'll still see them. Don't want to waste anymore time with this. Thank you
Hello, I applied the hemp oil like you suggested on my black chalk painted piece, and although the top is very smooth after the wet sanding, I can see a lot of streaking, which I was trying to avoid. This occurred after I wiped away the excess oil. Will this disappear after it’s cured? Or should I add another coat of hemp oil? Black paint has been so difficult! 😕
About to try on a piece! If doing a piece partly in solid ash colour & parts with a wash with ash - can you also use hemp oil over was? Great tutorial!
Hemp oil will not be completely water proof and might show some water spots from splashing. I would suggest using a finish that will be more resistant to water like a waterbased poly.
Yes, you can definitely paint metal hardware. If it's very glossy and slick, I would suggest using a paint other than milk paint (which will likely chip off.)
Does the hemp oil give the milk paint a hard finish? I've only used chalk paint and wax and was trying to figure out which would be best for my dressers.
That's a good question, Jacque! It does not. It penetrates to protect from the inside out. It does not dry hard like a Tung Oil. You can use Hemp Oil over chalk paint. If you don't like using the wax that comes with your chalk paint, Miss Mustard Seed's Furniture Wax is buttery soft and super easy to apply!
I am going to do my first "quarantine" milk paint project. My question is, I like the crackle effect but what happens to that when using hemp oil? Will the paint chip off? Thank you, the piece is stunning.
If it's just crazing, then hemp oil will be fine. If it's really chippy, you'll want to use a clear poly finish like Tough Coat from the MMSMP line or a similar polycrylic.
Yep! I would rinse it out in the sink first and then wash it in the washing machine. It would be just like cleaning a rag/towel you used to clean up olive oil, etc.
Those spots that look like they were missed are areas where Hemp Oil is absorbing at different rates :) Once the piece has a chance to dry, the Hemp Oil will even out. You certainly can apply more Hemp Oil if your piece is SUPER dry and sucks it all up right away.

Thank you for sharing your talent. You have given me such an inspiration to redo some pieces of furniture that I would otherwise be too afraid to do.

The hemp oil does wonders 👍🏽💗
It really does!
Thanks for the tutorial....and on a side note...completely unrelated...your hair color is amazing (color specialist here.)
It looks adorable. Very beautiful. ♥️

Did you ever figure this out? I'm having the same issue
I'm about to try the same thing. Any idea how to avoid/fix it?

Thank you very much for tutorial.
Looks amazing.
Would you use the hemp oil or your sealer for a sink basin? I'm using milk paint. Thank you.

@@missmustardseed Thanks
The piece is beautiful does the hemp oil take away the distressing you did?
Can you put metal hardware if you don't want it to look new? Will the paint stick to the hardware?
Yes, you can definitely paint metal hardware. If it's very glossy and slick, I would suggest using a paint other than milk paint (which will likely chip off.)
Hi, when I use the furniture wax. Will it get the same result as the hemp oil?
Does the hemp oil give the milk paint a hard finish? I've only used chalk paint and wax and was trying to figure out which would be best for my dressers.

Wow! It looks like actual satin. So hemp oil is to allow the paint to look more rich? Can you use this same method if you use stain?

Beautiful. Thanks for the tutorial. ? Does the top 2 drawers have hardware?
They don't, but there is a recessed handle on the bottom edge of each drawer. It's a pretty cool design!
Can you just launder your microfiber cloth after you've used it to buff the hemp oil (so you can reuse next time)? What do you launder it with?
Yep! I would rinse it out in the sink first and then wash it in the washing machine. It would be just like cleaning a rag/towel you used to clean up olive oil, etc.
Can you use gilding wax over hemp oil?
Amazing!
What do you do with the saturated micro fiber cloths?
Wondering the same thing
Love your apron where can I get one ?
It is from Me & Mrs. Jones in Memphis. She doesn't sell online, but you can contact her about purchasing one. (I know they have a waiting list!)
Why hep oil instead of wax?
Hemp oil brings out the richness of darker colors better than the wax in my opinion. It's also easier to apply and maintain.
I stripped an old dresser. I’m going to either chalk or milk paint it. The wood is. Should I oil the wood prior to painting? Thx
NO...the oil is a finish and will prevent the paint from sticking if you apply beforehand.
Definitely needed another coat you can see the missed spots

Will hemp oil work the same on the Mineral paint?
