Loved seeing the footage from the documentary Audre Lorde: The Berlin Years in here. As a Black woman from Berlin myself, Audre was just such a treasure to our community. She will always be celebrated and remembered here. :)

I discovered Audre Lorde's work for the first time last Spring. I had just gotten back into reading during quarantine. She changed my life. Truly. Her words, her essence is so profound and inspiring. I have a deep love, appreciation, and respect for her. Over the course of last year, I purchased 4 of her books. I still need to buy Zami and a few others like the pink UK edition titled, Your Silence Will Not Protect You. Thank you for making this video

Best wishes from Cambodia. Thank you for this video and honoring Audre Lorde in this way. I was the director of a bilingual, multi-site AIDS education program and the facilitator of consortium of organizations in the South Bay of LA County from 1987-91. Audre Lorde's picture hung in my little office with the quote, “When I dare to be powerful, to use my strength in the service of my vision, then it becomes less and less important whether I am afraid.”― Audre Lorde

This was a beautiful video! The way you interspersed the videos of Audre Lorde herself was so touching. And I used to pronounce Audre Lorde wrong until recently too! 😓 very embarrassing but at least we’re not alone.

What really struck me, having seen only the first few pages of the cancer journals (I will read it when I'm ready), was that when she was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1977, women rallied round to help her. It doesn't happen now. Nobody is rallying round to help me. I am three weeks post masectomy. I'm going to get a cleaner in. There's no-one oferring to help me with mine. A FEW people have said, "Just ask if you need anything," but you can't just ask someone to do your cleaning...None of them have made the boundaries clear ie they haven't exolained what they can & can't do to help. i've even had a family member post online. "You're okay. You have a good support network" without asking me first. There are so many people out there who can't afford a cleaner. Yet no one will be oferring to help them either.
