wow, I remember when you first started this project and I wondered what style bonsai you where going to attempt. This is absolutely so cool. Might have to try this one myself.
I don’t mean to take away from all the time and technique you have put into this Bonsai over the MANY years you’ve been working with it, but I cannot for the life of me figure out how to get my aloe to grow UP instead of OUT. But you grew an Aloe on Mars, so I shouldn’t expect to reach your level anytime soon (hehe)
Aloe salad for dinner with all those cuttings. I was thinking a Weeping Willow tree style for the aloe, but your Banyan style looks pretty good. You have a good eye for the future development.
The lights under the snow are so cool! I am glad there are fast-growing forms of bonsai to play with. I'll be 60 this year. I wonder if some of the tropical succulents like Hoya would work? They are epiphytes and have delicate root systems , but their nodes are pretty active.
I think your aloe is already very cool! It actually spurs much controversy and discussions on the facebook pages. I love the look! Certainly is unique, I love unique things! The light shows are neat too. We don't get things like this in my area. The towns and cities aren't big enough I guess.
Nigel I always admired your use of unconventional species and this one turned out even better than I expected! Just wondering, have you ever tried avocado bonsai?
That is fantastic! I had no idea an aloe could grow in this fashion and with aerial roots. Looks like a great ancient alien tree already! Was it a single aloe or a planting of several together when it was first started?
Shame you cannot ship some of them cutting out to the UK 🇬🇧 I would have loved to grow a plant from one of your bonsai's. Have you been bluing your scissors they look new..,😃
This tree looks like a miniature aloe arborescens. I wonder if the people who planned these light displays counted on the beautiful snow drifts to reflect their lights, especially where the lights shine out from under the snowbanks. Only LED lights could produce this effect. Incandescent bulbs would melt the snow above them.
You have inspired me to try one of thease myself. I'm starting a haworthia aloe and was wondering if you had any advice for me on growing it as beautifull as yours.
They seem to really like bonsai soil and every time I pot it into a larger pot, the vigor increases until the roots fill the pot once again! In the summer I water and fertilize once a day with a very weak solution!
Where do you get your bonsai around here? (im in your area) Just bought a mature chinese elm from zen gardens up ottawa way. Damn shipping is expensive!
Questions for the viewers: are there any smaller leaf aloes that also grow in this style, with trunks instead of a rosette style like most aloes? I had this exact species, and it grew well, but I don't have too much space and these aloes' leaves take a lot of space, so I had to gift it to a friend when it grew too big. I was wondering if there was another species with similar growing style but with smaller leaves
Kind of, Nigel has a different style Alo. The leaves grow a little smaller. It does grow pretty bushy too. I don’t remember if he did a video on it last summer or not. You might have to do some hunting for that video. And I don’t remember what the species is. Good hunting.👍
I hope you are aware and appreciate the value of living there instead of living in a middle eastern country where the tension is always high and may turn into a battle at any time. The night lights and people enjoying the beauty and peace of the place makes me feel so! 😔
This is one of my favorite unique bonsais you do. I'm trying to grow one now myself
It will be interesting to see how the aloe processes, this year. The light show is beautiful! Thank you for sharing this with us.

Do you know how long it took?
@Bonsai by SnC thank you for taking the time to answer😊
I had to run and get a cup of tea to view a great video.
Ello ello Nigel Saunders Bonsai bloke! Heck yeah, I love Aussi Bonsai Bloke’s intro.
Bunga lidah buaya di bonsai?

Another interesting video from Nigel!

Nice intro! mixing it up!!!
WOW! Didn't expect much from this tree initially. What a glorious specimen! Gonna try my own with my star aloe. Cheers from Fort Wayne Indiana.
Thanks Jackson!!

Nice light show. Like little fireflies.
The aloe is looking really good Nigel, lot of aerial roots
Thanks Xin, hopefully I'll get more this summer!

Great video Nigel. Thank You
Your aloe is really wild looking :D, it’ going to be fantastic, and over the top unique.
wow beautiful 💯👍👌😍
Haha that intro really messed with my mind. Was so used to the standard intro haha. Great video Nigel 🌱
I thought Nigel was doing a cockney policeman impression at the start 😂
Looks great Nigel🌳
Save all those leaves. They are ayurvedic medicine. Can be used for hairs, skins. 😁 Also if aloe juice mixed with honey gives relief from coughing.
aloe to you two!
It's so beautiful 😍
Thanks, a very unusual bonsai!!!
Don’t forget the new name for this bonsai .. MEDUSA! 🐍Great suggestion by @Beth Dietz. If @Patricia O’Connor named it - it would be sNeK HeAd 🤣
It's a monster!

Wow amazing
Good morning, from tropical country
That is fantastic! I had no idea an aloe could grow in this fashion and with aerial roots. Looks like a great ancient alien tree already!
Was it a single aloe or a planting of several together when it was first started?
it was only a single stem!
So unusual and so gorgeous…love it…thanks
My aleo bonsai was broken at the top because of pressure of leaves I grew my broken aleo back and now my aleo Vera is healthy and safe

I think it is an Aloe Arborescens?!
@@TheBonsaiZone Thank you Nigel!
The Aloe is developing nicely and I have seen some Aloe clumps that do look like the bonsai you created. Also, what species of Aloe is this?
Aloe arborescens
@@epiphyte8646 Thanks
👍👍
how to get so much branches on that species?

How did you get it to grow so big?
👍👍👍👍👍👍
Foist
Hi from British Columbia was wondering if I pay the shipping cost would you send me a cutting from the aloe? No worries if not thought I would ask

Aloe tenuior comes to mind. As a plus, a beheaded stem will produce new heads.
👍🍎
Nigel, your head is a bonsai
Smells like aloe 😱

you can just tear a piece off and eat it
I don’t know about that. I’ve watched videos about alo and I think there is a part of it that’s not good for you. I don’t exactly remember tho.🤷♂️
