you are the best teacher! You really accounted for any "what if's" people might have along the way. Love the overview text along with the visual step by step for different learning styles. thank you
That is very kind of you. Sometimes I worry that the "what if" scenarios are off-putting to anyone not experiencing that what-if. If you read the comments, there are a few people who are having trouble...because they skipped the what ifs :S
Man, this is one of the most useful tutorials ever!
@@elanport thank you!
Incredible! I would have literally NEVER been able to figure this out without this!

oh my gosh one of VERY few actually super useful tutorials - thanks so much for clarifying all the not so obvious info!,
@@haniazminkowska1467 im glad it was helpful
Great tutorial, thanks! Tip: the files i found had no extension. couldn't use them without it. i made a copy of the file and added ".otf" to fix it.
@@SamuelMostard1 yep!
You are amazing thank you!
This helps a lot. One question though, I'm seeing the font files named as numbers, liked IDs. Any chance you can help me figuring which font is which? I've got about 200 fonts installed
Hey, check at a about 6:07 in the video.
@@ericforest9186 omg totally missed that part, thanks!
Most helpful video I've watched all year. Thank you!!
That's great to hear!
This is a great tutuorial - could not be easier to follow thank you. But Canva still won't let me upload it - it starts but then I get spanked by Adobe. Have they just got more defenses up now and you can't add it to canva?
With Canva, the font is fully uploaded to their servers and "installed" into the Canva file. That's good because it means any editor can use the font in that document. But it also means they would be potentially be serving the font to people who don't have a license, which is what causes the issue.
Compare that to using the custom font in Figma, for example. Figma isn't storing the font and they aren't making it available to editors. You need to font installed locally to use it in Figma. If someone without the font opened the Figma design file, they will see a font error, and they can't edit the text unless they change the font or get a copy of the font in question.
tldr Canva stores the file in the cloud (can't do that) and Figma does not store it on the cloud (must have a copy locally).
It wouldn't be ethical or legal for me to instruct on how to circumvent the protections so please do not ask.
Thank you! One of the most helpful tutorials I've ever watched!🎉
@@rilana2906 great to hear, thank you!
Amazing thank you, had a bit of trouble finding the file but once i did it all went amazing. Except one font wont work, but would that be because its a bigger file size? Is there anything i can do to fix that?
@@user-eg5xo4lz1h not sure why one font won’t work. What do you mean by “not working”?
Hi, my "r" folder is empty. I even ticked the hidden items.
Are you sure you installed the fonts, in addition to activating them? See 1:26
Thank you. You made this SUPER easy to do. I have a question. If I use this fonts on a website, what happens if a person on the other end doesn't have this font installed on their computer? How does the font show up on their end?
@@KimCastle hey! If you are hand coding the webpage, you want to add to your CSS
@font-face {
font-family: 'FONT NAME';
src: url('path/to/FONTFILE.otf') format('opentype or truetype or whatever it is');
}
The font file must be saved to a web location.
If you mean with CMSs (wordpress, squarespace) etc, I don’t know! But I’m sure you can find it with a google :)
@@ericforest9186 Thank you for replying so quickly. What I was asking, if I include an Adobe font in my CSS, how would the font show up for other people if they do not have the font on their device?
@@KimCastle to do that, first save the font somewhere online, eg: kimcastle.com/fonts/fontfile.otf. Then use the code I commented earlier, adding your path to the font.
However, Adobe fonts have a web API like google fonts. You can just link to the font in and apply it in CSS. Follow this:

@@matteboye is there any chance you missed the part about showing hidden folders?
Or perhaps you never really installed the fonts and therefore no folder was created to hold them.

What if I don't see a "CoreSync" folder after clicking into the "Adobe" folder? I tried searching for it too but don't see any results that lead to path you show.
Hi! Did you maybe skip the bit about making hidden files/folders visible?
@@ericforest9186 so I was finally able to get to the folders but the fonts that I copied into a folder like you showed are still greyed out and I can't do anything with them like upload them to canva. They just disappear and dont show up even if I do the CMND+SHFT+. -- How do you make them usable?

If there is nothing in the folder then you have not installed the fonts. Remember you need to install them after you activate them.
I've reached this folder but the files are all just a "File" type, not sure how why it's not opening as a font file :(
@@vynyx4684 you can try adding a font file extension. It’s usually .otf. You can also try Right click and use “open with” (or your operating system’s equivalent).
I dont see the library as an option on my Mac
I was able to find the library, but now I dont see CoreSync
@@jenelleSELLERS-h6h Hi! It's unlikely that you don't have a CoreSync folder if you are running any Adobe CC programs. Maybe you found the wrong "Library" folder (there are a number of them). First, make sure you turn on "show hidden folders." On North American keyboards, that's cmd-shift-period. Second, follow the path in the description, and shown at 2:30, to get the right one.
Thanks Eric! Super well explained tutorial! It helped a lot!
