Learn over 200 pieces of Japanese vocabulary with Crayon Shin-chan! I had so much fun with this game! Definitely a fantastic game to use to learn Japanese with! There is a ton of repetition, jokes, furigana, change of scenes, it doesn't really ever get boring! Hope you guys enjoy the video!
Just picked up Shin chan: Shiro and the Coal Town - Japanese version (クレヨンしんちゃん「炭の町のシロ」) through PlayAsia gift card + this game at 40% off currently. Are you planning to do an update with this new Shin Chan game at any time? Again, thank you for the great effort you are putting into these reviews!
Just remembered that during auto-advance sequences in games, you (or learners in general) can use the Switch's capture function to record the previous 30 seconds, then hop over to the album to review it. Obviously the best thing would be to play with a capture card like you said in your how to learn video, but this is an quick an easy way to get around the annoyance of text moving too fast!
Very surprised to see you playing this! I’ve been slowing streaming it since it came out last year (about to finish new game plus this week). I heard from fans of the bokunatsu series that it doesn’t compare and I enjoyed this one enough, so that makes me even more interested to go back and try the others (like you said since the others are less accessible that’s why I played this first)
i love your videos. i wanted to let you know, i got Yomitore for the DS from your recommendation in the kanji game video. i feel like it's the perfect game for someone who can read hiragana and katakana and understands the absolute most basic grammar structure in Japanese. i have to use my phone to help me understand questions sometimes, but translating the questions and answers is sort of helping wrap my head around Japanese better i think. the furigana is also a blessing and it's structured well enough in menus that you can figure everything out within like 15 minutes of poking around. just really intuitive for picking up and learning. i feel like the pace is great too. i need to become more consistent with it but i'll hopefully continue updating you with how it's helped me learn :) i also bought the kanken premium game you recommended, but i think i'll probably make use of that later after i improve my reading skills more because that game's menus were a little much for me right off the bat lol.
Great video ! What would you recommend for a brand new Nintendo Switch owner to purchased along with this game to practice Japanese ? I bought animal crossing and this one already
Can someone explain, when I read these sentences myself I can't see where the words breakup...but when Matt explains each word I can understand. I seem to get word blind and not know where one word starts and another ends. As soon as Mat breaks it down I'm like "Ohh that's supper obvious!"
Hey! Awesome video! I’m a huge fan of Shin-Chan and ran across your tier list where you first mentioned this game, and now I’m waiting for the special edition to arrive from Japan! Thanks so much for making these! They’re a huge help, even to those of us who speak/read/write Japanese fairly well already! This one was a lot of fun and watching your reactions was a treat! Cheers buddy!
Yeah its really beautiful! Im not sure about which shop to buy from but I believe it hasn't been localized yet so any shop should be alright? I think all versions are Japanese versions?
There's a line in the full game right before the scientist offers to take a photo where he says: 現在科学のすいでありロマンです。Do you know what すい and ロマン mean here?
ロマン can mean an epic adventure, romance, etc. I asked a native Japanese speaker and they said すい here means something like high-level, which i believe would be this kanji: 粋. So, "High-level/sophisticated modern science is an epic adventure/romantic" I guess? I'm guessing that すい kanji is not common, especially for kids, so they opted for the kana instead.
Thank you so much Katie! Oh absolutely! Its been tough lately being busy with my fulltime job but ideally one day id like to get one of these videos out every week or so! What games would you like to see? Im always happy to take in feedback!
@@GameGengo I agree those series are excellent! I would love a complete playthrough of Crayon Shin-Chan or Persona 5 with your commentaries, this is so good! Thank you for your amazing work.
I am surprised your content isn't more viewed, it has really helped me to give me courage to try and learn a new language through games, furthermore it has given more games to try and play to hear the awesome vocals.
This was one of the first games I played on my Japanese journey and I loved it! Some of Shin-chan sentences were a bit confusing but the story was very easy to follow, with very useful vocabulary, and on top of that it's artistically beautiful! I think it's a great game for beginners. Now I'm finishing another game that I think is the perfect game for beginners: oshiri tantei (butt detective) for switch. Humor aside, the vocabulary is very simple (but super useful), there is a lot of dialogue (with furigana) and after collecting clues you have to help oshiri tantei to solve the case, so you can check if you have understood things correctly. Give it a try (there is a demo), I think you will like it!
@@TheBlueGoldenHawk It depends on your skill, I spent about 30h but I am super slow at reading. At normal speed (for instance, a 5-10 year old Japanese child) I estimate it would take between 5 and 10 hours. On youtube you can also find gameplays by searching おしりたんてい みらいのめいたんていとうじょう!

Cool and helpful video, thanks! Is there a game script for this game, I picked it up for my first 'learn-by-game' and it's quite difficult to translate with a google translator I think
Im having difficulty figuring how to get this on my switch? The US eshop doesnt seem to support Japanese and im not sure how to buy the game without opening a new account...

@@GameGengo im about on the 5th repeat of the week in the game. Its perfect for studying because of its relaxing repetitive nature and use of furigana. plus, its shin chan! I loved the show's humor. Hey Chad, thanks for the feedback! So the general idea of these videos are to get exposed to the language so you learn over time in a more relaxed/chill/fun way, rather than a study/cram way that textbooks/tests often do. Have you tried any of the other videos? Id love to see what you think!
