    I just picked up the RD400/4 to replace my original 300/4. I bought that amplifier in 2006 and it ran hard for 17 years and outlasted 2 vehicles!!! You have earned a customer for life for this kind of reliability.

    I adore this line. I first had the 1000/1 on 2 12w3v3s. But over the years I've migrated over to a 500/1 on an ho112w6 and it's incredible. Its all I've ever wanted. Low lows and just the right amount of pressure.

    Just picked one of these up at Local Pawn shop for $87 after tax. Oddly it still had the RCA,s, Power, ground and speaker wires attached. Its a good amp to pair with my JL HO110 W3V3.

    I just purchased the JL RD1000/1 I have to install it, I must say I am disappointed that it is made in China, engineered in AZ. I live in Fl where your HQ are at, I thought I was purchasing American made amp supporting American workers. I also purchased the HO112R-W7AE: Single 12W7AE H.O. Wedge, Ported, 3 Ω
    SKU # 93276. At least that is American made I hope. Maybe the quality will be there when I get it installed.

    alright, I've never liked JL audio due to it being a bit pricy and chose RF over it for a subwoofer due to a flexible design flexible wiring method and that sleek cone and basket. But I see now that this amplifier is well worth $300. You might be seeing me purchase one of these for my subwoofer as I can't find a decent amp where I can detect clipping over at Rockford Fosgate. Looking right now at buying a RD500/1. finally made something I like :)

    Bought a custom sub enclosure with 2 10w3v3-4 set up for total 2 ohm load, also have 2 set of c2 650, I was planing on powering with a 5 channel rd amp for 250 watts to each sub, would that be enough? Or should I buy an rd 1000 and an rd 400 (for the c2-650) to provide each sub with 500 watts.?

    • @JLAudioInc
      @JLAudioInc  6 років тому

      @Paul Nieves, the RD900/5 should be perfect power for that set up. Optimal power for a single 10W3v3 is about 300 watts, so you would be just below that for each driver.

    RD vs HD AMPS ? RD is better or ?

    • @JLAudioInc
      @JLAudioInc  7 років тому +2

      The HD amplifiers are still our flagship models. They have regulated, intelligent power supplies that allow them to product full power, unclipped, to any load between 1.5-4 ohms with any supply voltage between 11-14.5 volts. With the RD amplifier models, clean output power is dependent on both the load and the supply voltage like any other non-regulated amplifier.

    I have the rd900/5 with my stock speakers in my Tacoma and have jl c1 tweeters on the front. I also have the tw3 stealth box. I’m not sure why but the sensibility on the sub channel has to be up pretty high to get a rich lower bass from the sub and have the LP just below 80hz does this sound right to you guys ? There’s also clipping if I turn the sensibility a little too high

    • @JLAudioInc
      @JLAudioInc  5 років тому

      @Mimikyu The Pokemon, did you use the appropriate test tones and the clipping indicators to set the sensitivity? If so then this is the best way to get full output out of the amplifier for the least amount of clipping when playing music. If you choose to turn the sensitivity past the point where the indicators suggest to stop then you would introduce more clipping and could risk damaging the speakers. If you have bass level control knob (RBC-1) you could set the sensitivity on the subwoofer channel with the knob at 75 percent for a bit more leeway on the bass for tracks with lower recorded bass levels, bu;t you would have to be cautious going past 75 percent on the knob at high volumes with boosted bass tracks.

    What's the difference between the RD line and the XD line, is there any sound quality difference or is one a lower end line?. Also the What's better,

    • @JLAudioInc
      @JLAudioInc  5 років тому +1

      The XDv2 is still the superior amplifier line. The sub amplifiers have built in infrasonic filters, and the 5-channel amps allow for an active configuration using the bandpass filter modes. All amplfiiers have completely defeatable filters, which the RD does not. There is also a wider collection of amplifier models to fit any system configuration.
      That being said, the RD lineup is very close in power and size, and it uses the NexD power supplies to ensure proper output. We have implemented a new clipping indicator which is very convenient for setting amp levels, only found on the RD amp currently. You'd be hard pressed to find an acoustic difference, it mostly comes down to system configuration and budget.

    Hey guys I was wondering if the RD900/5 can run this set up? I have 2, JL Audio C1-570 and 2, JL Audio C1-650. I also have a CS112TG for bass?
    Or what would you guys recommend?

    • @JLAudioInc
      @JLAudioInc  Рік тому

      The 900/5 would run that set up fine, although they will be above the max power rating of the TW3 so they will have to be careful at high volumes on heavy bass tracks.

    JL Audio, can you please detail the differences between the RD and XD lines? They seem very similar, almost identical. Same power, same crossovers, etc. The RD's actually have clipping indicators that I would have expected on the XD amps.
    Do the XD's have a higher power supply switching speed or ???

    • @JLAudioInc
      @JLAudioInc  7 років тому +1

      The RD and XDv2 have very similar power supplies with similar switching speeds. The RD amplifiers come in fewer models and do not have the thermal rollback feature of the XDv2 amplifiers. The mono amplifiers also lack the infrasonic filter feature found on the large XDv2 mono amplifiers. Aside from those features the RD amplifiers that are avialable are very similar to their XDv2 counterparts and even have clipping indicators for easier gain setting. The XDv2 line has quite a few more options if more channels of amplification are needed for a given system.

    • @msh6865
      @msh6865 7 років тому

      Thanks for the reply. Very interesting. I actually like the cosmetics of the RD amps slightly better than the XD's. My subwoofers will positioned in a sealed enclosure so the subsonic filter is unnecessary for my needs. I see that the RD mono amps are bandwidth restricted so, I assume that's why the low pass filter is non defeatable?
      On a side note, can we expect to see the clipping indicators show up on the next gen XD amps? Seems logical.

    • @JLAudioInc
      @JLAudioInc  7 років тому +2

      I believe the filter is non def eatable as another way to cut cost compared to XDv2. The Range on XDv2 mono amp is limited also, but you do have the option to turn the crossover off if you use a processor or radio for crossover duty. Perhaps we weill see the clipping indicators and other new features in the next gen XD's. We shall see.
      Sincerely,

    • @JLAudioInc
      @JLAudioInc  6 років тому +1

      The XD300/1v2 would be a perfect match at 300 watts at 2 ohm. You would have to be more cautious if you were to run 500 watts to the subwoofer if you are a heavy listener.

    Website says Turn off all processing on the source unit and the amplifier (bass/treble, loudness, EQ, etc.).and turn radio down to 3/4 while setting amp after adjusting radio if clipping light comes on while playing music should I be ok or back off gain more?

    • @JLAudioInc
      @JLAudioInc  5 років тому +1

      Hello Joe. After following the input sensitivity adjustment instructions for an RD amplifier, momentary illumination of the clipping indicator LED during high volume dynamic playback is expected and should be considered as normal. If you play your audio system at a high volume and notice that the clipping indicator is solidly lit, this would indicate heavy output clipping. At this point, decreasing the input sensitivity on the amplifier and/or decreasing or turning off any "boost" features on your source unit would be recommended.

    • @savage-xu9fl

    How can i wire 2 1000/1s to one jl 13w7ae/d1.5

    • @JLAudioInc
      @JLAudioInc  6 років тому

      Hello.
      The 13W7AE-D1.5 woofer has a rated power handling of 1500 watts, and we recommend using between 500-1500 watts RMS. A single 1000/1 amplifier is a great match for the woofer. There's no reason to add a second. Even if you were to limit the output of each amplifier to 750 watts for a combined total of 1500 watts, the difference in output would only be about 1.5 dB over the single amplifier solution. It would essentially sound the same, but draw more current and be more demanding on the vehicle's electrical system. We would not recommend this.
      To connect one amplifier to each coil of a dual voice coil woofer, you'll want to make sure to send both amplifiers identical input signal and level match the outputs. The 1000/1 amplifier can accomplish this with the Master/Slave mode outlined in Appendix C of the amplifier owner's manual. This mode allows the the low pass filter, the infrasonic filter, and the parametric EQ to be set on the first amplifier only, then output the processed signal to the second amplifier via the configurable preout. Both amplifiers will still need to have the input sensitivity adjusted to the exact same output voltage using a test tone and a voltmeter. Again, we wouldn't advise this for the 13W7.

    • @geekzdigital378
      @geekzdigital378 6 років тому

      JL Audio i have already got 2 amplifiers thats why i want to do this and will the amps be fine if each one is connected to each voice coil because the amps gave a 2 ohm limit and the subwoofer is dual 1.5 ohm. I have also read the manual for my RD1000/1 amplifiers and i cannot find any information about master/slave settings

    • @JLAudioInc
      @JLAudioInc  6 років тому

      The amplifiers are rated to deliver 1000 watts to any load between 1.5-4 ohms. They won't have a problem with driving a single 1.5 ohm voice coil. The concern would be over driving and damaging the woofer.

    • @geekzdigital378
      @geekzdigital378 6 років тому

      JL Audio ok i was just concerned that the manual states anything lower that 2 ohms on the RD1000/1 will cause the amp to enter protection mode

    • @JLAudioInc
      @JLAudioInc  6 років тому

      You said your amplifiers were 1000/1 models, not RD1000/1 models. The RD will not drive a 1.5 ohm load. It will go into protection mode at moderate to high volumes.
      Also, the RD models do not have a Master/Slave mode.

    • @JLAudioInc
      @JLAudioInc  7 років тому

      Yes, set the sensitivity of TwK first based on the source signal level. Then put all TwK outputs to +12 and then set the sensitivity on the amplifiers.

    • @badlilstang
      @badlilstang 7 років тому

      That's interesting.. is +12 boosting the signal? I assume you are doing that so sensitivity is set with the max possible output of the twk?

    • @JLAudioInc
      @JLAudioInc  7 років тому +1

      Setting to +12 brings the TwK up to full signal strength output. As long as inputs are set properly then there should be no clipping.

      Thanks for answer, JL AUDIO is the best, that's what I hear.. you guys answer really fast... so the amp is 75rms per each channel and the speakers are 60rms, it doesn't affect to my speakers? Is not to much power for them?

    • @JLAudioInc
      @JLAudioInc  6 років тому

      You are very welcome. As long as you follow the proper procedure for setting the sensitivity on the amplifier you will be fine at 75 watts to the C2's.

    Hey JL Audio. Whats a couple great JL amps for 1 12W6v3-D4 in a sealed box.

    • @JLAudioInc
      @JLAudioInc  5 років тому

      @Trevor Phillips, the XD600/1v2 would be a great choice or the RD500/1

    • @trevorphillips3715
      @trevorphillips3715 5 років тому

      Thank you very much. I am looking into them. I have been wondering this about your amps: If the bass boost knob is turned all the way down will the sub woofer be silent?

    • @JLAudioInc
      @JLAudioInc  5 років тому

      @Trevor Phillips, you are very welcome. Yes, if you use either the RBC-1 for the RD500/1 or the HD-RLC for the XD600/1v2 they will attenuate or lower the output to full zero when turned counter clockwise.

    how do you rotate that jl badge? mine is upside down

    • @JLAudioInc
      @JLAudioInc  7 років тому

      There is adhesive tape backing on the badge in place when it ships and the badge is usually mounted at the end of the installation to prevent the issue you've got. The easiest way to remove the badge would be a carefully prying it off using a plastic panel tool to prevent marring the materials. Remember adhesive usually softens with heat, so it may be easiest to do this after the amplifier has been on for a while.

      Okay thanks, yeah I think the local shop must have put it on before they mounted the amp

      To any future people with same issue: I just bought a used RD500 and the badge was 'upside down'. Don;t try to pry the badge out, you'll only mar the face of the top plate. Unscrew the top plate, flip it over and carefully pry off the metal plate on the back. It's held on by adhesive. Some heat might help, I didn't need any. Once off, you have access to two little locator holes that the badge pins engage with. You can use a small tool to push from the back and pop the badge out without damaging anything on the face of the top plate. Press everything back together and you're good to go.

    does infrasonic matter? and how do the crossovers compare to butterworth?

    • @JLAudioInc
      @JLAudioInc  7 років тому +1

      The infrasonic filter is used mainly for vented enclosures to block frequencies well below the tuning of the enclosure. This prevents the unloading effect that could happen when playing frequencies at high volume that are below the tuning. The filter can also be used for a sealed subwoofer set up to make the sub a bit more efficient since it will no longer be trying to play the lowest frequencies.
      Sincerely,

      JLAudioInc Thanks for replying i see on the website it has a defeatable 30 hertz infrasonic but how do you turn it on i dont see any switch in the pictures for it?

    • @JLAudioInc
      @JLAudioInc  7 років тому

      What model amplifier are you referring to?

    • @nightmaremunoz8384
      @nightmaremunoz8384 7 років тому

      JLAudioInc the 1000.1 sorry for not referencing it earlier

    • @JLAudioInc
      @JLAudioInc  7 років тому

      If you're talking about the XD1000/1v2, there is an on/off switch under the main panel. On the Slash 1000/1, the infrasonic is adjustable and located in the Bass EQ section on the side of the amplifier.

    Will the 1000/1 work at 1ohm

    • @JLAudioInc
      @JLAudioInc  6 років тому

      Hello.
      No. The RD1000/1 amplifier is rated to deliver 1000 watts at 2 ohm. It is not designed to drive a 1 ohm load.

    • @geekzdigital378
      @geekzdigital378 6 років тому

      JLAudioInc what would happen if it was run at 1 ohm

    • @JLAudioInc
      @JLAudioInc  6 років тому +1

      With a 1 ohm load, the amplifier will go into protection mode at high volumes, indicated by a red status LED and muting of the output. It is not recommended.

      Yes, the RD400/4 would work great on those four C2-650 speakers.

    • @Dawgbarber
      @Dawgbarber 6 років тому +1

      Now what should I buy (Sub) for the RD500/1??

    • @JLAudioInc
      @JLAudioInc  6 років тому +1

      A single 10" or 12" W6v3 subwoofer would be a great option, or maybe a pair of TW1 series woofers if you have any mounting depth limitations but want a bit more output than a single sub can provide.

    • @Dawgbarber
      @Dawgbarber 6 років тому

      JLAudioInc so... this is what I bought ( well a great deal was given to me, so I bought it all)
      4 × c2650
      2 x c2350x
      2 x c2690x
      2 x c2525x
      1 x CP-212
      1 × rd-400/4
      1 × rd 500/1
      1 x rd 900/5. My question is. 10 speakers ...10 channel's. But different (rms) would this set up work? Or am I missing something

    Would the rd 500.1 be good enough for my 10 w7

    • @JLAudioInc
      @JLAudioInc  6 років тому

      Hello.
      The 10W7 woofer has a rated power handling of 750 watts, and we recommend using anything between 300-750 watts RMS. The RD500/1 amplifier is rated to deliver 350 watts RMS at 3 ohms. It will work just fine.
