In my Nebraska vs Illinois preview and prediction, I discuss this Top 25 Big Ten conference game between the Huskers and Fighting Illini. I predict that Matt Rhule and Nebraska Football will win 31-16, with Dylan Raiola leading a balanced attack that will score touchdowns, while Nebraska's defense holds Illinois to field goals. Kansas in losing to UNLV and a propensity to turn the ball over so far this season has me wondering if they’re that good
Whoever runs the ball better and converts third down will win. I can see Illinois kicking 3-4 field goals. Must force Illinois safeties to come up and support the run where Dylan can use play action.

This being Nebraskas 400th consecutive sellout game I think the crowd is going to be pretty nasty too. Also our D line is pretty angry about the UNI game, so look for them to come out with their hair on fire 🔥

Like your opinion but……OSU will always be very good, Michigan the same, USC and Oregon so those games will always be tough. Wisconsin will be competitive until Barry dies.
I think the tight ends are gonna be huge for the Skers in this game. Look for Carter Nelson close to the end zone.
I do think Nebraska's TEs give their offense a special advantage.

@@ReddsComedyHour the only 2 things that really concern me are special teams and turnovers. They have a significant lead in both. Both are huge momentum shifters too.
I think Illinois is definitely improved this year, but the way I see it, there’s no pathway to victory for them if they can’t force turnovers (which it looks like they’re excellent to be fair). Nebraska had the game thoroughly in hand for almost the whole game last year with a first year head coach and Heinrich Haarberg. They’re significantly better at basically every position on offense this year compared to last and have now had time for the culture and team-chemistry to set in further. I also think the offense hasn’t fully shown what they’re capable of so far, as the smallest lead Nebraska has had so far this year going into halftime is 18 points, and they go into game-control mode after that. If Raiola can take care of the football, which he’s been very sound on so far, it’s going to be so tough for Illinois to take control. It could be close, but if one team pulls away and makes it look ugly, it’s Nebraska.

Nebraska has not faced a defense like Illinois. The Illinois offense will show plays not on the tape for Illinois. Illinois is the better team.

You can throw Illinois’ defense from last year out the window. Our entire secondary last year was very young, 1st year starters. Our defensive coordinator was in his 1st year as a coordinator. Yet we were close, we lost 6 games by single digits. Let that sink in.
Illinois is different this year, just as is Nebraska. We haven’t faced a legit QB like yours and he hasn’t faced a legit secondary like ours. The game is going to be on whose D-line can get the most pressure.

I think it should be obvious to people, but I guess it's not. Example, We are one of the best defenses in the B1G, but we blitz among the least of all teams. It's not because we can't pressure the QB, it's because we haven't needed to. So why put that on tape until we absolutely have to. Rhule is holding other things back that will be a surprise to upcoming teams.

Nebraska 24-13. I agree with everything you said, however the home field advantage for this game cannot be understated. Memorial Stadium will be electric for this one given that it's a Friday night game, in addition to it being the 400th consecutive sellout.

So far Nebraska has done OK but they need to keep improving to have a great year.
I think Nebraska takes it into halftime up 21-10. From there, I think we finally make the necessary adjustments to close out a game. Illinois comes out of halftime with a quick field goal. We score two more times with a field goal and a touchdown, and allow Illinois to capitalize on a late drive. 31-20 Nebraska in a close one. GBR!!
I just can’t imagine an Illinois team with a weak run defense stopping Nebraska. If I’m that OC I’m licking my chops knowing they can’t stop the run.

I would rather have Hill on Franklin. Both are dangerous receivers but Franklin is faster and has more moves
@@jasonrahn5736A a fierce Nebraska pass rush would go a long way to help the secondary . If Bly Hill is healthy his man single coverage technique arguably is the best of the secondary.

Illinois has been a problem for Nebraska in the past. As you very impressively point out the numbers are much better for Nebraska this season. This is a different situation this year. The comparative numbers are close between these teams. I think Matt Rhule will win the Chess game by staying conservative with pass plays and getting balance with the run. If the turnovers are low for Nebraska I see them winning. I think it will be a battle. Nebraska 24 Illinois 20.

Illiniwek… Native American Tribe that lived along the Mississippi River Valley. Wiped out due to disease and warfare. Had the best logo in college sports before the liberal crybabies deemed it offensive. Even with support from descendant tribes to keep it, our liberal University chancellor said since nobody from the Illiniwek nation was able to voice their opinion, it was deemed necessary to remove it.
Illinois will defeat Nebraska in Nebraska despite the ref calls that will go against them. Illinois' offense will dominate Nebraska 's defense, and Illinois' defense will stop Nebraska's team. Nebraska has not faced a defense like the Illini thus far.
You are happy with your Illini team and that's nice. But you couldn't move the ball on Kansas... Nebraska has a pretty nasty defense, they aren't getting dominated by anyone. Counting Ohio State. Good luck

And who has Illinois played this season? No one even close to Nebraska's defense.
It took 3 interceptions for Illinois to beat Kansas. Illinois was a single score up at half for a bad central Michigan team. Nebraska does not turn the ball over frequently and Nebraska does majority of their scoring in the first half.
I know both teams are completely different but Nebraska added a generational talent at quarterback and two stud senior receivers to a team that had a tight end throwing the ball and freshman pass catchers. Nebraska will be in cruise control by the 4th.
