@@trb7153there will be none of that after an FCS qb put up 49 yards on them (pretty sure that includes sacks). The D got embarrassed on multiple fronts. They don’t care about only giving up 3 points, they care about the sustained drives and lack of stopping the qb run last week
Lackadaisical is a good discription of how we played the last game. I agree that containing the QB will be important. Our wide receivers need to start showing up as well. They got us all excited about them during the UTEP game but haven't looked like anything special since. Dylan can't just throw it up for grabs against this secondary.
UNI has had the same HC for 22 years now, definitely not his first time squaring-up with a B1G/B12 opponent. His OLine was prepared to go all out last week. Their offense basically tried to play keep-away so that their defense didn’t get overwhelmed. Huskers still covered a lengthy spread, plus we played all 4Q’s of football. We did all of that, giving up no TDs, and only had 8 offensive drives the entire game. As far as Illinois goes, they struggled with a very overrated KU team centered around one player, Jalon Daniels. It still took 3 INTs and a lost fumble for the Illini to rally in the second half, scoring the only TD of the 4th quarter to eke out the win. Their DLine is good but not excellent. Although our offensive line looks much different this year, we still have a big advantage in the running game. Raiola should still be able to “game manage” this one with that type of support. Illinois QB Altmyer, similar to Shedeur Sanders, hasn’t faced a defense like ours yet. He likes to air it out, but it may cost him if we get the same kind of pressure as last week. This game will move methodically slow for both teams, minus a few home runs attempts occasionally. I’m gonna go with 28-14 Skers.
@@alexspotanski2668 Kansas on paper is better than Colorado. They started the year picked to win B12 and ranked #19. Same team just new OC causing early struggles. @@darylthomas7237 I think with us having every game so far won by halftime, Rhule hasn't had to open the playbook yet, and he has tricks in the bag. HH is going to be an X factor, I think we see him a lot Friday night. If we play a fairly clean game I think we have it in the bag.
We are 2-9 in scoring drives the last 2 games in the second half with our staring offense against weak teams. Illinois has a better defense than any team we have played so far, they are plus 9 already in turnovers with 6 picks and 3 fumble recoveries. Dylan has been a little lucky so far has he would have had 2 to 3 INTs and he was missing his targets on the biggest plays against an FCS team. Illinois is being underestimated. We haven't played anybody and they haven't neceissarly either but their QB and secondary are on point. They get a decent amount of pressures on defense and our o-line hasn't been fully tested but our left and right tackles did terrible against the pass rush against Colorado grading under 44.0 both of them at 43 and 39. Too many people are drinking the Koolaid before seeing us really tested. The defense can handle a lot but they will be tested. The biggest test will be for our young QB and o-line. This game will be very close and I can't logically pick a winner until I see that our o-line and Riola can rise up against a better opponent. GBR, 17-14, I hope Huskers but we will see.

They are way ahead of us and turnovers change the game for so many different reasons. “Getting ahead and taking the air out of the ball” is much harder (nearly impossible) with most teams in the B1G. Whatever the reason for it these first 3 weeks, it’s not going to work nearly as well any other week moving forward, except maybe UCLA.
This is the list of teams that put more than 14 points on the scoreboard in a game against Nebraska under this staff: Colorado, Michigan State, Michigan, Wisconsin (in OT) End of List. Illinois put up 7 last year in Champaign. Are they that much better on offense?
I feel that their receiving group is better, but my main reason is that Bielema is a really good coach and having played them last year, he will have a good gameplay for us
@spursfangary8725 Hey I just enjoy knowing we get to watch all the Wisconsin fans melt down as they see the guy that they fired make you guys really good as Fickell is burning Wisconsin's program to the ground.
WR Pat Bryant led Illini with 7 TD's last season and has 4 already this year. They also added Zakahri Franklin, who is the current career NCAA leader in catches, yards & Td's. Their secondary has been lights out with X. Scott having 3 picks and M. Scott with 2. The safeties are very physical, too. As a team, they have forced 9 TO's and only committed 1 themselves.
Personally, I’m not. We have much more depth/some added experience this year than last. Even the underclassman are ready to get their reps. Mazzcua is great but he’s had too many issues on and off the field, and needs to check himself. Rhule & Co. are seeing to it that he shapes up.
Not too concerned as long as we stay healthy. If I guy or two gets banged up or goes down and we have to go deeper down the roster, it will be a bigger concern
Rhule mentioned that it was planned for Henry to be the starter before he got injured so now that he's healthy i'm almost not worried all though perhaps i should be. - gabe
I was thinking a 10 point win before I watched your video. I’m also on the low side. Thinking (or maybe just hoping) we can get out to a 13-0 lead or so and ride out a 20-10 win. I think both teams will be run heavy once we feel each other out for a few drives. Also just wanted to touch on a couple things I found funny. Calling out the QB run as an Achilles heel, well that was Alabamas Achilles heel during the Saban era so if that’s your only big weakness on D you’re in good company. Also wonder who that guy who misses tackles by throwing his body, could it be our 5’9 guy who’s 180lbs (that has to be with a backpack full of weights on). I love his fight but small DBs have issues in big ten play
I think Rhule has barely played the real playbook on both sides of the ball. I really don’t know what to expect cause I think he is really clever. I don’t think they have any clue what to practice for… he’s been so guarded and conservative in these first games. For that reason, I cautiously feel there’s a decent chance this game is going to look and feel like the previous games.
Illinois has 2 things that are good. 1) Their QB is accurate and can run. 2) They have better receivers than people have given them credit for. On defense, I'm not really impressed. You can run on them, and their LBs have shown a trend to over-commit early. If Satterfield doesn't get pass crazy, IU will need to fill the box with 7 or 8. This will provide an excellent opportunity for play-action passing. This will also work on wearing down IU until they are gassed. They don't have a lot of depth, and getting to this point can allow NU to score 35+. On Defense, if NU can get pressure (and realistically, Kansas didn't show IU much of a pressure defense) and maintain gap integrity, then this will nullify their best assets. It will also cover our issues in the secondary. This is week four; by now, we should be able to get things cleaned up. So, if we get tremendous pressure and can maintain a slightly run-heavy balance, the score will be similar to that of CU, around 31 to 13. Otherwise, it will be marginally closer: 26 to 17.
NU's has a huge advantage in prep time: Illinois played last Sat. and then has to play NU on Friday night. NU had last weekend OFF. If you guys don't mention that, well, you haven't done your homework.
I can't wait for Friday. Praying for an Illini upset. I was looking at the Cornhusker stadium on google earth. It looks like the stadium has more seats behind the end zones than on the sides. Is this google earth artifact? What moron would design a stadium with so many seats behind the end zones?
I don't know the exact count but yeah it does look that way. Could just be google earth. could also be true as the east and west sides have the press box and club seating.
