dwayne Wilcott oh im currently running my car stereo on a gamecube power supply and it works fine. But i guess I'll just use one computer psu for my amp that I'm gonna buy soon.
So I get a 650w power supply for a 600w mono amp and connect all ground wires together and all 12v wires together and make a psu on switch and hook up my amp?

The problem with cheap computer PSUs is that 12V output depends on the load on 5V rail. If there's no load, you will get a very soft 12V rail - voltage will quickly decrease with any load. To get the most out of a PSU like this, you need to put a solid load on the 5V rail. It's a different story with modern PSUs that get 5V and 3,3V output from a 12V rail and will allow you to drain full power from the 12V rail (that's also how you know it's this kind of power supply - max output on a 12V rail will be the same as a total max output).
Tomas Kuruc I just bought a thermaltake sp-850m for a jl360/2. Amp uses a 50amp fuse. The psu is 70a/840watt on single 12v. Would I still need a dummy load on the 5v and 3.3. I purposely got a bigger psu that is also an 80plus bronze to help with heat and efficiency as I need this amp to run at least at 80% load, bridged which will be between 280-360 watts. And this needs to run for a minimum of 5hrs at this load. So I know the basics which is adding all yellow, black and putting green/black. Now what I need help with is efficiency, and stable load. So if that requires dummy resisters etc and where, please shed light or find me a video of someone doing exactly this cause all these video sick cause they never show the system working or if they do, at what volume to let me know it's stable
that all depends, check the actual voltage on 12V rail while the amp is in load, if it doesn't fall below 11,5V, you're all good, if it does, just connect a couple of car bulbs (in parallel) to the 5V rail (red). That PSU has a strong 12V rail and is quite modern, so it might not even have the type of regulation that's used on cheap PSUs.
Yes it will work, but your taking a bit of power away from the amp,you would also want to fuse them separately that way. Use the PSU to power the amp and use a 12v wall adapter to power the head unit
watts = amps x volts. The chart on the side of the power supply, the one the video shows, has the watts listed for each of the rails, and a maximum overall wattage. Divide that wattage by 12 and you got your amps. Use the proper sized wire for that amperage if you use a junction block, and I wouldn't use a cheap or exceptionally long power cable or extension cord.
Thanks for the vid. Do you have to use all the black wires or can you just use the same amount as the yellow wires? Do you think you could power 2 x 200W car amps with a single 500W PSU? I would like to put 2 in for shaker driver in a car sim seat. 1 for left channel and 1 for right channel.
Hi mate! Thx the video! The thing is I did everything the same as you but when I start it the fan is rolling a short time and turning off. I read many forum sites but no one can give a normal answer. The power supply is brand new. What do you think?
Some atx power supplies will shut off after a while if no load is detected. Try putting a 1A load on the 5V rail. A 5 ohm power resistor should do the trick, just make sure its rated for at least 5W
I ordered an older type of power supply and it is working but I have two power supply now lol anyway I will try the resistor trick. I hope it will be working. Thank you for your advice. :)
The problem (at your side) is with the positive and negative connection with the amp! You have connected positive 12v wire of PSU with negative 12v wire of the amp. Connect positive with positive and negative with negative and your problem will be solved. PSU turns itself off when it senses the improper connection. It's a safety measure built into it.
the problem is that the psu have an over current/over voltage protection that cut the power when it exceed the current limit imposed by the psu. it is possible to bypass those protection by buying some circuit board sold on internet for about 5-25$
i did this and after a week for 3 hours a day of playing disco music, the power supply blown up. it wont last because it is not designed for heavy surge during rapid bass kicking. i used 750 watts PSU for 300watt car amp but it toasted some rectifier and resistors.

how much ampere needed to run car amplifier can we run on seperate transformer 12v 25 ampere or it runs on smps and which one is best for sound output smps or transformer
I am currently using trying to build one did all wires same as u my watts on power supply is 350 max an I have a 2500 watt amp pushing a 15inch subwoofer. But if I run volume up to 25 its stays running anything after that it dies??? Help
Your power supply should have at least 150w of headroom more than your amplifier. Your subwoofer works at low volume because you aren't asking much from the power supply, but once you give it a higher load the thing craps out because it is no where near powerful enough to support your amplifier.
Hi, your amp in the real world won't be putting out 2500 watt. You need to know the rms wattage.that usually will be quite a bit lower. Also you need to make sure that any psu you use has adequate amp rating which is the same or better still slightly higher than your amplifier. Check this by simply checking fuses on you amplifier. I would have thought a psu of say 750w minimum with a amp rating of say 60amp would be plenty powerful enough.
Hello Brother I always watch your videos I am also interested to make a car audio system inside my house but actually I am a Mechanical Engineer So can please tell me how to get with amplifer and power Supply because I have JBL 1100 Watt amplifer
Sabtain Idrees its probably set up for momentary buttons, if you try touching them together and not holding them, it might work. Most computers use a button to signal the motherboard then the signal is sent from the motherboard to the supply, but this does not happen in all cases
Please help me. is it dangerous to use a power supply that give less power than what the amplifier draw ? I have a crappy pc atx rated as 12.4 = 7.5 Am ( 220 Watts total ) . but my car amplifier is probably 250-500 watts and 40-50 Am
mehdi Moro there is a key difference between power ratings in car audio and computer components. In computer applications, the psu you own will put out 220w, maybe 250w MAX to give some headroom in the event of power spike. In audio applications power is measured in rms or root mean squared. You should look up the difference between measuring at peak and rms, but if you tried driving your amp with that psu you would blow it up before you get to half volume.
A good rule to follow when re-using a pc power supply, Look at the AMPS Fuses. You need at least this much amperage on the Power Supply 12V rail(s). For example : If you AMP has 2 x 20A fuses you should at least have 40A of power on the 12V rails. If you had say 42A on your Power supply, It would work but I would not run it hard for very long as the power supply will not last very long pulling max. amps. It would be better to have 50% or more amps to spare. I think doing this will end in tears in days to months as best. Better to just buy a fosi audio BL10C AMP for $45.

Is it capable to give 18 amp at 12 V Continiously ? Means rated current at 12 V continiously or it trip if I continuously draw the rated current from it ?
Bro kya ye car amplifier ka 12v 25amp ka load utha lega? Pls reply
Check the amps ratings on your power supply
@@fahadahmed480 ok thanks
Bro smps ka bijli ki lead kitne rs me aa jayegi?
Man thanks for this. You really saved me here. Appreciate it.
Is it matter with PSU i use for 2000w AMP?
how much ampere needed to run car amplifier can we run on seperate transformer 12v 25 ampere or it runs on smps and which one is best for sound output smps or transformer
@All in One can we run 10inch bass on smps
Can car amp and car stereo run on 1 psu? I just try but amp don't run but player ok. Why?
Too low amperage I presume or you didn't run power to the remote on
will this work with a 3500w sub with built in amp?
Pikelet747 yeah
No, you'd need a 3500+ watt PSU
Then u need to combine 7 psu 7x500w.😁
max watt out put ???
whats the max watt amp can it power
Read the sticker on the side of the PSU.
200 watt
can u connect this to another ?
Koi bhi black or yellow wire le skte he??
Yes
its necessary to use car audio cap bank?
I hooked mine up & it sounds distorted.
I connected black & yello
Hi. I am planning to buy an amp JL audio xd1000/1 to power 2 x 600w subwoofers what do you recommend for this to test working
Is it pantomime?!
Bhai amplifier ko chalane ke liye kitne amp ki jarurat hai smps le ya transform
Could yòu please tell me which kind of switcher do i need to connect the green and the black cable forma the on/off?
Hello Brother I always watch your videos I am also interested to make a car audio system inside my house but actually I am a Mechanical Engineer So can please tell me how to get with amplifer and power Supply because I have JBL 1100 Watt amplifer
Are the wire diagrams the same on all computer power supply??
yes :) it would be disaster if you put 12 volt on 5 volt device
End whear is amps? 😁 12v? 😁 What u cen to do this 12v?
And the Amp remote wire?
bridge it with battery + and if you still dont know look up what i said i just put u in the right place to look it up
Amazing
Think i might try this
Thanks broo❤️❤️
Now how you gonna supply power to the PSU in a vehicle? There is a way, but not worth what it takes to get it done.
It's meant for in home powering of an amplifier, not going in the car.
Andre Verska ahhh... got it.
Can i connect to Head Unit?
When i connect the green wire with the black grnd wire the psu turns on for 2 seconds (the fan turns on for 2secs) and then it goes off
Sabtain Idrees its probably set up for momentary buttons, if you try touching them together and not holding them, it might work. Most computers use a button to signal the motherboard then the signal is sent from the motherboard to the supply, but this does not happen in all cases
sbb5001 thanks but i think there was something wrong with the psu so i ordered a new one and its working just fine but still thanks for getting back
some need a 10 watt 5 ohm resistor connected to a RED and BLACK wire to turn on. Try that on your old PSU....
If I have a 32v power supply would it work??
No, you need 12v.
You burn your sub
How many amps is this power supply?
I have a couple laying around they're usually around 15 amp
It's 5A

good job bro
Can you Dixie chain multiple psu?
Airmack Tyree yes
For example :
If you AMP has 2 x 20A fuses you should at least have 40A of power on the 12V rails.

Thank you for your help. I have abandoned that project. Too much risk and the results may not be what im expecting

Thank you for the advice
I really don't know shit about electricity and i stayed away my whole life from it . Not gonna start fuckin around now lol
as you said. . it's better for me to buy a factory made speakers or boombox... 😊
shefin you would have to get a smaller amp hour battery like a 12v 1ah i think. stay with 12v but get smaller batterys and test witch one puts out 1amp. or get a amp step down off ebay
Good job
is it use for tpa3116d2 amplifier board?? please give me answer
do you need 12v and 19amps or less? SURE WHY NOT?

What do you do with the rest of the cables, like the red ones, purple, ect? can you just cut them off?
Leave them aside
@@gamesandsoftwares1441 Can they be clipped and joined together and crimped? Joiners removed and cables shortened? Or do I just leave them all messy tied up and taped up?

How u are supplying input 230v voltage to smps in car?
Its not for using in car.. if the car amplifier is used for home audio this could be used to power it instead of batteries..
How much voltage drop is under high load?
A lot I
Add 4 4400 capsitor
It can't drop voltage so you good

Connect the resistor go and learn electronic. Ask a friend that know electronic.
I followed all the mentioned procedures correctly and when i switched on the smps it will automatically turned off.. The amplifier light is blinked once and turn off.. Please give me a solution. Hope your reply soon...
ANSHU J same here
Possible Solution for the problem that you're encountering is:
The problem (at your side) is with the positive and negative connection with the amp! You have connected positive 12v wire of PSU with negative 12v wire of the amp. Connect positive with positive and negative with negative and your problem will be solved. PSU turns itself off when it senses the improper connection. It's a safety measure built into it.
