Casey, I’ve gone through many ups and downs in my life. You have always been there with the right video, somehow, when I needed it. The message of this video, "Doing Hard Things," comes during a time in my life when I needed to remember it. So, here I am, at 240 LBS and 5’8”. Now, I’m motivated to start working towards running a full marathon, and I’m going to begin by working towards it today. Thanks, Casey. Your continued dedication to your passion has been one of the things that have kept me going for 10 years.
Casey! After your video of the Tucson marathon you inspired me to sign up for a marathon and when I did everyone told me how crazy I was, or that I would get hurt, or that there was no way I would be able to finish. But I didn’t want to back down and they didn’t let you get a refund for the race. I started doing the hard things, getting up early, running when it was cold, battling through soreness. In August of this year I ran the marathon! One thing that made the marathon even harder is that one of the signs to tell runners where to turn had blown over, I ended up running an extra 4 miles in the wrong direction before I realized that I was the only runner in sight. Eventually I ran back to where I got off course and continued going. I ended up running a total of 30.6 miles. At mile 26 my body was done and I called my wife and explained what had happened and told her I needed her to come pick me up! But my wife told me that even if I ran the extra miles I needed to cross the finish line to complete my goal! Casey those extra 4 miles were the hardest things Ive ever done in my life but they were so worth it! Thank you for inspiring me to do hard things and to push myself even when everyone told me I couldn’t finish! You’re the man Casey!
"You can just bail at anytime" type of hard things might seem easier but they are most certainly the most difficult type of HARD THINGS!! Thank you for this powerful video, Casey. WELL DONE! - Garrett

boy do i love a casey video, and this one was even emotional because seeing his videos for a few years and knowing that he´s been trying to break 3 hourss and finally did it was beatiful, contrats!!
Doing hard things is what makes life worth living. BTW, I used to own a running store & Brooks was our best brand. Cool that you are now a professional athlete & what's even cooler is that you are still running marathons & run the NYC marathon every year. Congrats, Casey, on your sub 3 hour last year & your sub 3 hour at the NYC marathon this year. Keep doing hard things!
I agree, it's the hard things that we choose to do that make life worth living. Love that Casey achieved his sub 3 hour goal in the NYC marathon. Very inspiring!
So glad you make video again! I lived 11 years in Germany, last 3 years were horrible. Got overweight, sad, had bad thought. Worked on myself and decided to get back to my home country, France. It was so hard, and is still so hard... But I chose to do for good. Thanks for this video, it brings so much energy to me !! by the way I'll do my first half marathon next year. Thanks Casey
You actually inspired me to run my own marathon over 5 years ago. I haven’t run another since because my hard thing was going from not running at all to running 26.2 miles before I turned 30. It took me a year and a half to even attempt a race but I managed to finish one 2 months before my 30th birthday. Goal achieved. Sometimes someone’s hard thing also makes others want to pursue their own so don’t discount that reaction per Newton’s 3rd law. Keep inspiring man. And congrats on your sub 3. Finally.
Caseeeeey, miss you man! You're the top storyteller on wheels. Perfectly told in image and text like you never stopped. And one thing you didn't mention but super important: based on your calculations, one thing that stopped you from finishing in 3 hours or less was the energy spent at waving to the public during the race. So you made the decision to refrain from waving as much as possible and ... it worked!! Also kudos to everyone who filmed our Casey because they knew he would want to compile the videos and make one of his greatest pieces which he did. Well done Sir!
God it’s so good to see this. Made me realise how much I miss those old daily vlogs. This was catching up with an old friend and nothing had changed. Nice run too.
Seeing Candace so genuinely happy for you made me feel something, I dont think i’ve ever felt before. That was incredible. I think that was the reason you do hard things. I know people say you should do hard things for yourself and not others but seeing the happiness she had for you was different
Ran my first marathon in Richmond the other day and being able to watch this the night before the race was so encouraging. Congrats Casey and thank you for always being an inspiration for runners!
8:28 that women is a POS to ruin someone’s hard work just for her to cancel all the training and hard work they’ve been doing over a “I’m entitled and need to cross the road mentality”

Don’t believe everything you see. It’s good to be skeptical these days. Casey’s videos have always been dramatic, something tells me this might have been a set up. Normal stuff is boring.
Congratulations! Great life lesson. I teared up too, knowing how long you’ve wanted this, how hard you’ve worked, and how many times you didn’t achieve your goal. Going to show this to my kids.
I’m watching this video at 2:20 a.m. I went to bed at 11, tried to fall back asleep but couldn’t. I’ll go to the gym at 5:30, have breakfast, then go back to sleep to get a full 8 hours.
omg omg @ mile 24 I thought all these people I didn't know were somehow cheering "Gracie, Gracie" but of course I realized after the fact (with the help of Marathon Foto) that they were actually cheering "Casey! Casey!" bc you were right next to me.😆 But I made the vlog @ 9:44 so all is well 😀
Casey, I haven’t cried at a movie in 10+ years. This video had me weeping and I have no clue why. It could be since I’ve followed you for YEARS and got to watch you finally accomplish a lifelong goal. Or it could because it forced me to realize all the things I’ve given up on / quit in my life due to the slightest bit of discomfort. I’m in the middle of a very demanding Paramedic class, this video was exactly what I needed to keep me motivated and keep grinding away. Reminds me to follow the plan, not how I feel. Thanks Casey!

Congratulations! You should be so proud! This life lesson video is everything. Seeing and hearing Candace screaming with joy and pride for you was a perfect way to end the vid.
This popped up on my recommendations and I audibly said “OH HELL YEAH!”
Absolutely stoked for you Casey!!
Undoubtedly one of UA-cam's greatest storytellers!

Dawg I’ve been watching your videos since the very beginning, seen everything multiple times and I know how much this race meant to you and your fam. Congrats dude.
Not crying, you're crying!
Congratulations Casey on breaking 3 hours in the NYC Marathon!!! Doing hard things pays off! ❤❤❤
Glad Roberto was not seriously hurt! 😮
I got a little emotional at the end, amazing video and best congratulations for the achievement. We missed you Casey
8:55 why are people crossing during the marathon??
Because this marathon takes place in the largest city in the country and people still have lives to live
And there is a cop right there in the frame!!!🤦🏻♂️
Nah, because they are mor0ns
@@pauldavids7167cops tell you to cross. People live and work on the route. They have to cross
@@usernotfound7481morons for living their life? People have places to be and they don’t have crossing points. They have no choice.
You are the MOST CLEAR proof in this messy online oceon of millions of advises, that the gear is just a tool, the magic happens when the pace of the story is in its right order. you are a true inspiration. Thank you casey.
10:45 You can see the palet thing display the "E" of "LOSE" and the next shot is it displaying "WIN". Casey is able to change his own faith, that's the man he is 👏
Casey's vlogs are so refreshing missing the 2016 time youtube
ikrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Casey, I started watching you videos last summer and you inspired me to run. I completed 2 Marathon races in the past 30 days and set a sub-4 marathon PB at the NYC Marathon. I am going to chase sub-3 like you! 🎉🎉
I love everything of this video. Candice screaming for you achieving your goal is all of us cheering for you, Casey! Congratulations!!!

Alright, time to watch all of Casey's 490 vlogs again.
Sigh…(unzips). Here we go again. 😂
boy do i love a casey video, and this one was even emotional because seeing his videos for a few years and knowing that he´s been trying to break 3 hourss and finally did it was beatiful, contrats!!
Doing hard things is what makes a person a person! I'm so glad that Roberto was ok!
No one regrets doing hard things. It's key to have goals in life.
I agree, it's the hard things that we choose to do that make life worth living. Love that Casey achieved his sub 3 hour goal in the NYC marathon. Very inspiring!
@@GlowGillsame here!
@@sabrinasmith6556well said, Sabrina!
Keep pushing man, keep pushing. The wind rises, we must try to live!
Casey, epic! When Roberto went flying like a cartoon, I thought it was game over, but you pulled through. Sub-3 crushed, absolute fire!
You are so inspiring Casey, thanks for all you do🤟🏼.
Typical German: paused the video at 1:46 just to stress over the misspelled Willkommen
😂
Same thing with Casey spelling Mandje :D
Haha, so wahr! And that's how we are...sometimes! 😂
I gess that's just Bing human !
The comment above made me pause/Replay because "es ist wichtig" 😂
God it’s so good to see this. Made me realise how much I miss those old daily vlogs. This was catching up with an old friend and nothing had changed. Nice run too.
I survived an overdose last week. I’m thankful to be alive. I was down and out. But now I have lots of support ❤❤❤ never give up ❤
Keep going!
Stay connected always to your support systems; it will be key in your recovery. Best wishes!!☀️
I'm so glad you're still with us! You're doing so well!!
Glad you're still here!
Glad you have support. Hope you have everything else you need?
That Candace reaction at the end made me tear up
Congrats, Casey! 11:25
yAy!!!!
never Give Up! never Surrender to Do hard Things!! keep INSPiRING us Casey!!!
Seeing Candace so genuinely happy for you made me feel something, I dont think i’ve ever felt before. That was incredible.
I think that was the reason you do hard things. I know people say you should do hard things for yourself and not others but seeing the happiness she had for you was different
Running my 1st Marathon on March 2, 2025, this video came in perfect, I'm 2 weeks into training, and now will never stop. Thank you Casey!
Congrats Casey! And a fantastic video with great advice. Thanks so much for putting this together.
Life is a series of choices. We all only have a finite number of days on earth. You can choose to do something with your time or not.
Ran my first marathon in Richmond the other day and being able to watch this the night before the race was so encouraging. Congrats Casey and thank you for always being an inspiration for runners!
9:23 could be a lesson on grief...on losing someone...or something in life
My first thought exactly.
Goosebumps
i felt so sorry for roberto
8:28 that women is a POS to ruin someone’s hard work just for her to cancel all the training and hard work they’ve been doing over a “I’m entitled and need to cross the road mentality”
what was she supposed to do people still need to go about their lifes, everyone hate this fucking marathons, why can't they bus theem all upstate so they could run all they want

NICE ONE CASEY!!!! I saw you at mile 25 in Central Park!!! Congrats on the record finish 2:57!!!! 🎉🎉🎉
Friend Casey, I am invisible on your channel but always learning from the number one in the world. 12:35.
Blows my mind people are allowed to cross from one side of the street to another like that during such a high profile marathon.
Doing her shopping on her own without help is her hard thing
I question if that was not some elaborate setup
Congratulations, Casey! Your drive and accomplishment of a sub-3-hour marathon have always been and still continue to inspire. Cheers, to many more
I’m watching this video at 2:20 a.m. I went to bed at 11, tried to fall back asleep but couldn’t. I’ll go to the gym at 5:30, have breakfast, then go back to sleep to get a full 8 hours.
update-
You can sleep well and go to the gym at 10 lol its still a great thing
omg same, I gotta go to swim at 7 am
omg omg @ mile 24 I thought all these people I didn't know were somehow cheering "Gracie, Gracie" but of course I realized after the fact (with the help of Marathon Foto) that they were actually cheering "Casey! Casey!" bc you were right next to me.😆 But I made the vlog @ 9:44 so all is well 😀
Who else cried?
feels like forever since i watched one of your videos, love the nostalgia!! appreciate you so much Casey, big creative inspiration ❤
“I have to do this because I lost roberto” lmao he said that like Roberto died
11:50 I'm gonna tell my grandkids this is baylen levine and kyle johnson
hey everyone, how are we all?
Casey, I haven’t cried at a movie in 10+ years. This video had me weeping and I have no clue why. It could be since I’ve followed you for YEARS and got to watch you finally accomplish a lifelong goal. Or it could because it forced me to realize all the things I’ve given up on / quit in my life due to the slightest bit of discomfort. I’m in the middle of a very demanding Paramedic class, this video was exactly what I needed to keep me motivated and keep grinding away.
Reminds me to follow the plan, not how I feel. Thanks Casey!
