My litmus test when I join a squad is I say "Yo whats up!". If I don't hear anyone say a damn thing for at least 5 minutes, I switch squads. It's a pain in the ass to deal with a mute squad. ESPECIALLY a mute Squad Lead.
There has been games where I switch squads 4 or 5 time just to find one with a SL, and then nobody speaks or plays together. Games are won by communication and squad team work. But, there's no point to this game. Win or lose, it doesn't matter, you just get some points toward nothing.
@@TheBledout I’ve had plenty of occasions where everyone in the squad is talking. All the while, we’re getting our asses handed to us, but we had a really fun time doing it! Communication is always key and that’s worth finding in hell let loose.
Communication is a skill. I don't want to SL even when only squadding only with friends because I'm tired of sneaking behind enemy lines with my squad and not being able to hear anything because someone keeps yammering on about something utterly useless and stupid in command chat. Excessive communication is just as bad as lack of communication.
HLL made me completely relearn how to traverse the map in an FPS. Since the original Halo, every FPS game will tell you to always be moving or strafing so that you're harder to hit, but in HLL it just makes you easier to see. Move quickly from cover to cover but once you're in cover and you peek out, HOLD STILL. Your instinct will be to strafe while ADS. Resist that urge. The only time you want to be moving while ADS when you're rounding corners or entering rooms or such. Otherwise it's sprint-to-cover -> stop-scan-wait -> sprint to cover.

As a long time battlefield player I was guilty of a lot of this, however after a few rounds and being lucky enough to have some very patient squad mates willing to teach me, already seeing an improvement. Patience is definitely an underrated trait on the field of battle here, so often I’ve moved too early only to get smashed in the back or sniped
A couple of tips I've found coming from other games into HLL, use cover and concealment, don't boost and cross a field through the middle, but traverse along the edges where it's easier to find cover, and where you're a bit more difficult to see in a pinch. More importantly however, learn to distinguish between the various gunsounds, especially the main rifles. The sounds will often clue you in much better to what's around you and where. There's a noticeable difference in sound between each weapon. By the same token, when you're lying still, listen around you. If you hear someone, stop moving and listen to how the sound moves. Where artillery is concerned, learn set distances and elevation settings on the gun, so in a pinch you only have to think about traversing the gun correctly and letting rip. While artillery is most often used singlehandedly, with one person switching seats, the best way to run them is with a mate. Don't be afraid to be that loader. The loader can traverse the gun beyond the normal arc by moving the gun around. Also, the loader has time to check the map and do all kinds of work so the gunner can shoot.
These are great points. My squad just steamrolled an enemy team and we barely killed anyone, just communicated and relocated quickly. Thanks for the vid!
A big one that always seems to get me in good positions is to think about how the enemy sees and might engage us. On a basic level, where they're coming from and what sight lines are available to them to best sneak your way in to get at their spawn. More advanced, spotting their recon planes and looking at your own map, steering clear of not only currently large clusters of teammates but also choke points that artillery has clear fire into nearby on the way into the objective from those clusters. Playing as a commander and as a squad lead gives you a lot of this experience without you thinking much about it, because it forces you to look at the game as a bigger picture of movements on a map.
Going to have to learn all this, and figure out how to do it with controller. Being disabled makes using M&K a non option phsyically. So I need to figure that out too
People always want to finish whatever they are doing before redeploying. Perhaps some don't want the death. However more often than not it is (an unfounded) fear of lost time or not being able to finish what you are currently doing. Dropping everything and following orders promptly, or following situational awareness promptly. Is a skill/discipline that few players have
Give me a good squad who communicates, a commander that gives orders and a lobby with fun but effective teams, and I'll run medic all day. Just started to learn how to play in the tank crew, wow!! That's a lot of fun.

I was so confused when I first started playing the game about 4 months ago, but now I’ve learned it and started playing commander. Currently I’m winning about 75% of the matches as a commander.
Sometimes kills matter but no that much, only when the squad is keep drawing the enemies and surround the enemy OPs and Garris and limit their movements to their spawns. However, this seldom occurs and comes to less important as the whole squad has to be effective both combat skills and game sense, etc which in most situation needs a veteran squad and the ultimate goal is still the map control bruh : )

Yh I agree with him wholeheartedly that the objective is always the main focus over your own score. But equally Kills and deaths aren’t completely inconsequential.
