  • All of us in Christ's Church are called from darkness to light at salvation, and we are saved from the power of Satan and transformed into saints of God. That process is called consecration. Last week, as we looked at the Church at Thyatira (Revelation 2:18-29), we saw that their consecrated lives were slipping because of compromise with sin and false doctrine.
Jesus called them to repent, to have a change of mind that would lead to a change in behavior. The letter to Thyatira is a challenge from Christ for His children of faith to do what is needed: repent of compromising their lives of sanctification.
Paul describes the deadly result of a compromised life. Please open to I Corinthians 3:15, where Paul warns all believers about the danger of getting to Heaven empty-handed and what it means to suffer loss. In other words:
    Don’t Get to Heaven
    Empty Handed & Suffering Loss
    I Corinthians 3:15
Please stand with me and listen to this one verse from God, through Paul, to each of us who will listen.
1 Corinthians 3:15 (NKJV): If anyone’s work is burned, he will suffer loss; but he will be saved, yet so as through fire.
This morning, God's Word uses a well-known person from the Bible to portray this description of being saved, yet so as by fire. This person is Samson, who powerfully illustrates Christ's warning to Thyatira. The Scriptural biography of Samson teaches believers about suffering the loss that comes from a compromised life,
First, Samson is a believer, a servant of God, but one who was saved by fire and suffered loss. The New Testament tells us so in Hebrews 11:32.
Next, we can classify Samson's struggles as chastening because the Lord always chastens those who are really His, as Hebrews 12:1-11 clearly teaches.
Finally, we know Samson suffered loss because Paul warns us so hauntingly in I Corinthians 3:15 that this happens to anyone who lives a compromised life like Samson.
Samson is a powerful reminder of God’s grace. Though he descended into the depths of a lust-filled life, wandering far from his calling and neglecting his consecration, the Lord never let go of him.
His soiled life is recorded. His defeats are unvarnished and clear for all to see. But against the backdrop of sin is the beauty of grace. God forgives, God restores, and God uses Samson one final time. But the warning from the Scriptures is:
Samson Shows Us How He Got to Heaven
    Empty Handed & Suffering Loss

Even though I’m struggling with my two autistic children. I’m going to keep trusting God. I’m truly having a hard time providing for them at this time. I’m so alone I have nowhere to turn. Dying would be easier but I will continue to fight. I’m a single mother with two beautiful sons both are autistic so thing tend to be a little more challenging in my home. I’m under a great amount of stress. At this time I’m struggling to provide for my children since losing my job of 13 years for not wanting the vaccine. I declined due to my declining health (Lupus) and heart disease. We are facing homelessness at the end of this month I don’t know what me and my children are going to do. So please keep us in your prayers.

Have faith in the Lord. It's vital yo our growth that we are tested as we grow.
God cannot break His promises, and he promises to see you through, it just might not be how you expect it. Most of my letdowns have been because I expected God to do things in the way I expected Him to do them. Father knows best, and knows what we need. Be Blessed, and trust in God.

@Galleta the last 2 years have been a loooong and hard journey back to the Lord. I too put myself into alcoholism and I was trapped by it’s curse and addiction.
But the Lord Jesus is faithful and He loved me and set me free. I haven’t touched a drop since 1st February this year (2021).
Just know that He is able to deliver you and set you free.

This was how the Lord helped me as well, and it didn't take so long when I look back at the actual time. It was scary though since I had no idea how alcohol could grab ahold before I " used ' it. I don't ask " WHY DOESN'T HE/SHE JUST QUIT " anymore. I have wrestled with opioids after a surgery. LoL, I NEVER planned on " those " kind of issues to deal with. Those issues are powerful teachers along with the rest of life. Thank you for sharing that advice.

I feel that I have let the Lord down most of my life, I don’t believe I’ve ever found my portion in his life. Now I’m an old person and death crosses my mind more often then it doesn’t. All I can do is ask the Lord to help me to be more of what he wants me to be and produce more of the fruit that he would have me. I figure by the very fact that I even care what I look like to God is because he has drawn me to himself. Nonetheless and nevertheless I am His.

Because of faith. Strong Faith, Samson defeated the enemy when he was physically blinded. The word says he killed more of the enemy of the Most High Father than he did when he was not blind. It was faith that enabled him to do more at his death than he did distractedl by his natural eyes his entire life before he destroyed the pegans and the pegan worship. It was said Samson was born in the line to be a judge but seeing he was used as a warrior physically than spirituality I bet Samson redeamed any rewards he may of lost. The pegans ruled because the people before Samson did not utterly destroy the pegans as commanded.

MP did you listen to the sermon? Pastor John did give verses and did explain all through the sermon, yet you comment that you want verses, when you are confusing salvation and rewards.
Why don't you listen again carefully with your Bible open and if you still don't understand, listen again.
Keep at it till you do understand, whether Bible studies, word studies, sermons, or remain ignorant, ignoring the sermons and asking some stranger for light in the comments.
We are to apply ourselves to understand Scripture and to love it, it's hard work but worth it.

The part when you say ask someone whos done drugs and alcohol.. i used to party alot, mainly just in the summer, but i did drugs and alcohol and it absolutely is a sin becoming a need for more and more. And it erodes the soul.. i absolutely agree with that. And every morning the next day from a binge i always felt guilty and i never knew why. Now i know why. I let God down and let the demons take over.. i had no idea that my peace and love of being in new age' healer' for 25 years was also demonic. Satan is such a liar and deciever and just when i thought i was getting ahead and at peace, something else bad would happen and i would always have this emptiness i couldnt fill but to numb it all with going out clubbing and drugs/alcohol.. cv is what gradually stopped it all with the clubbing.. God is who stopped me and woke me up by showing me in tribulation 4mths ago and this was before i even opened the bible so i know it came from God.

    • @danielmurphy7255

I have always considered that, Psychologically though, if there's no rewards, people don't understand why they should try. Is Salvation itself not a gift? A reward of Faith? Rewards in Heaven are likened unto those who Work continually to achieve them, if you can't get them without doing Gods work, it makes perfectly good sense for Him to incentivize Goodness, since it obviously doesn't always have its reward on Earth, being a Good person following God can be difficult, and He chastises us, you do not punish children to learn something because there are no rewards, you do it so they can achieve them. That's how I understand it anyway. I leave it up to God and His Will, if He says there's rewards, there's rewards. I just try to also figure 🤔 how exactly? But... Maybe it's FOR us to Wonder. It's hard to imagine, that might be part of the point. 🤷

I dont drink for some time now but xmas and new years is a couple glasses of wine and i repent .. so is repentance a daily thing and what does it mean to have nothing in heaven.. i mean its heaven not hell, thats already great.. im spreading the gospel everywhere, im constantly reading bible or bible studies, sermons, praying and do everything i can to change which is a huge change but i still have that few sins. So what does that mean for me?

Never have nor am currently reading anywhere in scripture that in the finished work of Christ, God's plan for his family, is that all are to be slaves to tyrannical rule by way of mercy, to the end of a tainted hope. Tis only worldly speculation and slight of hand (tounge), to suggest that there will be a regret or any lack of perfection or possession in the presence of Wonderful Counselor. This sermon paints it as the stepchild denied a fullness of the kingdom. Maybe, just maybe you don't know him like I know him or maybe you do and the twist is intentional.
You repent, learn righteousness, walk in it, become it, all in all, become a lover of God, true and faithful.

What this man is teaching is a soteriological doctrine called Free Grace Salvation--this is a opposed to a doctrine called Lordship Salvation. He basically teaches that one can have Jesus Christ as their Savior while rejecting Him as their Lord (in the ancient world a Lord was one in authority; they usually owned people and property). He teaches a person will suffer loss if they reject Jesus' Lordship, but they will still have Jesus Christ as their Savior.
I disagree with this. If one does not receive Jesus Christ as their Lord (and/or repent when you stray from this) then one will not be counted as belonging to God--one will neither have Him as their Lord nor Savior.
I will examine two sets of passages which talk about judgment day in the Bible (including 1st Corinthians 3 which this teacher brought up).
According to the Gospel of Matthew (Matthew 7:23), Jesus Christ stated that there will be a day in which many people will not enter the kingdom of Heaven, but rather will be told by Jesus Christ to depart from Him.
The worrying thing is that these people who hear this statement from Jesus Christ are said to:
    1. Be many (not a few).
    2. Profess(ed) Jesus Christ as their Lord.
    3. Have done ministry work on earth in Jesus Christ's name.
Yet, they are still told that the Lord Jesus did not know them and to depart from Him (not entering the kingdom of Heaven), being characterized as:
    1. Doers of lawlessness.
    2. Not doers of God's will.
I am going to post (below) an exposition I did of Matthew 7:21-26 so that the reader can understand how it is that these people fell into this state.
    *Exposition Of Matthew 7:21-26*
// 21 Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of My Father in heaven.
22 Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name drive out demons and perform many miracles? 23 Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you workers of lawlessness!’
24 Therefore everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts on them is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 The rain fell, the torrents raged, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because its foundation was on the rock. 26 But everyone who hears these words of Mine and does not act on them is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. 27 The rain fell, the torrents raged, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell-and great was its collapse!” //
    - Matthew 7
VERSE 21: in this verse the Lord makes the point that not everyone who confesses Him as Lord enters the kingdom of heaven, but only those who do the will of the Father will enter the kingdom of Heaven (and in the following verses we will find out what the will of the Father is, in context).
VERSES 22 & 23: many (not a few) people on judgment day will have (1) a confession that Jesus Christ is Lord and will have (2) done ministry work in His name, yet they will be told by the Lord Jesus: 'I never knew you; depart from me'; being characterized as workers of lawlessness.
VERSES 24 & 25: in this verse it states 'therefore', meaning it is a conclusion formed from the previous text. The conclusion is that anyone who both (1) hears & (2) does the Lord’s words is a wise-man. This is in contrast to those of the previous verses who confessed Jesus as Lord and did ministry work in His name, yet they were characterized as being lawless (and we will see in verse 26, that these people of the previous verses heard the Lord’s words/commands but did not do them. That was their problem and why they were characterized as being 'lawless' in verse 23).
These verses talks about a house being built--in Biblical typology the building of a house usually represents ministry work. This typological imagery of a house has relation to those who claimed to do much ministry work in the Lord’s name--they tried to build a house as we will see in verse 26. The house is judged by water/a storm, and whether the house stands against the judgment is dependent on the type of foundation the house is built upon.
The Lord’s words, which are to be heard and obeyed, in context are the teachings from the Sermon-On-The-Mount. So doing the Lord’s words, from the Sermon-On-The-Mount, is related to doing the will of the Father found in verse 21. It is these doers of His words which are considered wise builders (who built their house upon a rock). These doers houses will stand the storm/judgment and they will enter the kingdom of Heaven, since they are contrasted to those who do not enter Heaven in verse 21.
Notice, the issue the Lord is stressing in these verses--concerning ones entrance into the kingdom of Heaven--is not concerning the doctrine one believes, but rather the way which one lives in light of His words/commands.
VERSES 26 & 27: in these verses the Lord teaches that anyone who merely hears His words but does not do them, they are foolish, because they built their house (their ministry/life) on sand (not the rock). Such a house can not stand against the storm/judgment.
These people who build on sand are those in verses 21-23 who have a profession that Jesus Christ is Lord and even did ministry work in His name, yet lived lawlessly and not according to Jesus Christ's law/words (which in direct context is the Sermon-On-The-Mount, but one could extrapolate it further to all the Lord’s teaching/words, including the teaching of the Apostles commissioned by the Lord).
Remember that this, according to our Lord, will be many people on judgment day (who professed Him as Lord and did ministry work in His name), not a few. That is very sobering.
I do not believe the Lord is teaching salvation is by works in these verses, but He is at least teaching that certain works of obedience are a necessary fruit/evidence of a saving faith and real salvation. For example, that is why in the previous verses (Matthew 7:16-20) the Lord talks about a tree and its fruit. The type of tree one is, is evidenced by their fruit/works.
The Sermon On The Mount should lead us two conclusions: (1) I have failed and need an alien/imputed righteousness to save me, and (2) I can only live this out by dying to self and living in the Holy Spirit.
// But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. //

      *PART 2*
// 10 By the grace God has given me, I laid a foundation as a wise builder, and someone else is building on it. But each one should build with care.11 For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ. 12 If anyone builds on this foundation using gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay or straw, 13 their work will be shown for what it is, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of each person’s work. 14 If what has been built survives, the builder will receive a reward. 15 If it is burned up, the builder will suffer loss but yet will be saved-even though only as one escaping through the flames. //
      - 1 Corinthians 3
CONTEXT PRECEDING VERSE 10: up until this point the apostle Paul has been addressing divisions which have been arising in the Church of Corinth, based on which human leaders/apostles one listened to and followed. The Corinthian Christians probably thought certain leaders were good workers in the ministry, where as others were to be avoided due to being unskilled/unwise workers in ministry.
VERSE 10 & 11: the apostle Paul states that he was the one to lay the foundation (and he did this as a wise/skillful worker) in the Church of Corinth, and that now some-other is building upon this foundation which he laid. The apostle Paul states that each person should build with care, because they are only to build on top of the foundation he laid (which is Jesus Christ) and no one can/should lay a separate foundation.
VERSE 12-14: the apostle Paul goes on to state that there are different qualities--concerning materials--one can use when building on this foundation (Jesus Christ). The apostle Paul states on judgment day the quality of work built upon this foundation will be tested by fire. If the builder was wise/skillful (like the apostle Paul states of himself in verse 10) and his work survives the test of fire, the worker will receive a reward from the Lord.
VERSE 15: the apostle Paul states that even if a builders work completely fails the test of fire on judgment day, he will still be saved. The apostle Paul is stressing this matter to stop the division in the Church. Even if it turns out that some of these human leaders are useless ministry workers, they are still brothers (they are saved) and people in the Church should not be causing divisions due to the fact these ministry workers are considered useless.
POST-VERSE 15: in verses 16-17 the apostle Paul states that church together are the temple of God, and if anyone destroys/hurts the temple of God--by causing divisions, in context--God will destroy/hurt that person. The apostle Paul then states that the Corinthians are not to think in terms of human wisdom and to stop boasting in human leaders.
      *Comparison: Matthew 7:21-26 VS 1 Corinthians 3:10-15:*
      1. Matthew: the building is tested on judgment day by water/a storm.
      1. Corinthians: the building is tested on judgment day by fire.
      2. Matthew: the building passes the test dependent on which foundation it was built upon (the rock VS sand).
      2. Corinthians: the building passes the test dependent on which materials were used in the construction of the building.
      3. Matthew: if the building fails the test, the person does not enter Heaven.
      3. Corinthians: if the building fails the test the person will still enter Heaven (they are still saved), but as if by fire (with no reward). It seems in terms of entering Heaven, God is more concerned with the 'works of being' rather than 'the works of doing'. If one is holy/righteous and loving in nature (therefore, following the commands/words of the Lord by the Spirit) they will enter Heaven, even if their ministry work is not effective in building the kingdom of Heaven.

*NOT PART 2, JUST ADDED EXTRA*
Below is a quote by Biblical scholar, James D. G. Dunn, from the book: Four Views on the Role of Works at the Final Judgment.
      *Beginning and Completing*
In two places Paul speaks about beginning and completing the Christian life. In Philippians 1:6 it is a word of reassurance: “I am confident of this, that the one who began a good work in/among you will complete it by the day of Jesus Christ.” But in Galatians 3:3 there is a warning note: “Are you so foolish? Having begun with the Spirit, are you now made complete with the flesh?” There is a process certainly already begun but yet still to be completed.
Similarly, we recall that the gift of the Spirit, which for Paul constitutes the beginning of the Christian experience (Rom. 8:9, 14), is the first stage in a lengthy process. The Spirit is the arrabōn, the “first installment” of the whole process and “guarantee” of its completion (2 Cor. 1:22). It is the “pledge” of God’s complete inheritance (Eph. 1:13-14). In 2 Corinthians 5:5 the Spirit is the arrabōn of the process described in 4:16-5:4, the process of outward wasting away and inner renewal that climaxes in the transition/transformation into resurrection body.
In the equivalent imagery of the aparch, the “firstfruits,” which is the first sheaf of the harvest being reaped, the Spirit is the beginning of the process destined to climax in “the redemption of the body” (Rom. 8:23). As Jesus’ resurrection was the aparch of the harvest of the resurrected dead (1 Cor. 15:20), so the gift of the Spirit begins a process that will climax in the resurrection of the body (Rom. 8:11), the aparch of the eschatological harvest of resurrection/spiritual bodies patterned on Christ’s resurrection (1 Cor. 15:44-49).
It is easy, then, to forget that for Paul “salvation” is a process. Indeed, Paul uses the term itself, “salvation,” to speak of the end result of the process (particularly Rom. 13:11; 1 Thess. 5:8-9), and the verb “save” in the future tense as something still hoped for (Rom. 5:9-10; 10:9, 13; 11:26; 1 Cor. 3:15; 5:5). Christians most typically are “those who are (in process of) being saved” (1 Cor. 1:18; 15:2; 2 Cor. 2:15).
The question, then, is how these two tenses, the already beginning and the not yet completion, are related to each other in Paul’s thought. Does the beginning guarantee the completion? A reading of Philippians 1:6 might suggest so: Christ will complete what he has begun. But a reading of Galatians 3:3 might as easily suggest much more caution: Is it possible that those who have begun with the Spirit will revert to the flesh-and so fail to complete? Could the guarantee fail, not because of the guarantee itself, but because of the failure of the one to whom it was given? Could the process of renewal not reach its intended goal? This leads directly to another aspect of Paul’s teaching on the process of salvation.
      *The Conditionality of Salvation*
A disturbing feature of Paul’s theology of the salvation process is the degree of hesitation and concern he shows that it might not be completed-disturbing at least to anyone brought up theologically within a Calvinist systematic theology, as I was, where the perseverance/preservation of the saints is a fundamental tenet. The disturbing feature is that Paul regarded the possibility of apostasy, of failing to persevere, as a real danger for his converts.
      • Romans 8:13-“If you live in accordance with the flesh, you will certainly die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.” Paul evidently envisaged the real possibility that believers might live kata sarka (“according to the flesh”), and if they did so they would die. That is to say, if they abandoned the struggle between Spirit and flesh and reverted to a wholly fleshly existence, they would not experience that daily renewal toward wholeness, but only the daily deterioration toward the destruction of the flesh in death.
      • Galatians 6:8-“Those who sow to the Spirit shall from the Spirit reap eternal life”; whereas “those who sow to their own flesh shall from the flesh reap corruption.” The “corruption” referred to is evidently the opposite of “eternal life.”
We are not surprised, then, at the equivalent warnings elsewhere:
      • Paul envisages the possibility of “destroying” the work of salvation in a person (Rom. 14:15, 20; 1 Cor. 3:17; 8:11; 10:9-11).
      • Paul is concerned lest his evangelistic work might have been in vain (2 Cor. 6:1; Gal. 2:2; 4:11; Phil. 2:16; 1 Thess. 3:5).
      • Paul is concerned lest his converts be “estranged from Christ” and fall “away from grace” (Gal. 5:4).
      • Paul is concerned lest he himself should be “disqualified” (1 Cor. 9.27).
      • Paul warns regularly about the perils of moral failure (1 Cor. 3:17; 10:12; 11:27-29; 2 Cor. 12:21; 13:5; Gal. 5:4; Col. 1:22-23).
      • Paul warns the Gentile Christians in Rome that they could be cut off from the olive tree of Israel just as easily as the unbelieving of Israel had been (Rom. 11:20-22).
We should also observe the qualifications that feature at a number of points in Paul’s letters:
      • “joint heirs with Christ provided that we suffer with him in order that we might be glorified with him” (Rom. 8:17).
      • the gospel “through which you are being saved if you hold on to it” (1 Cor. 15:2).
      • reconciled to be presented holy and blameless before God “provided that you remain in the faith established and steadfast and not shifting from the hope of the gospel” (Col. 1:22-23).
      • hence also the calls to carefulness and watchfulness (1 Cor. 3:10; 8:9; 10:12; Gal. 5:15) and to self-scrutiny (1 Cor. 11:29-30; 2 Cor. 13:5), and Paul’s recognition that discipline is still necessary if the race is to be completed (1 Cor. 9:27; Phil. 3:12-14).
In the face of such a catalogue of concern, it is hardly possible to doubt that part of Paul’s pastoral theology was his all-too-real concern that faith could once again be compromised and cease to be simple trust, that commitment could be relaxed and resolve critically weakened. The result would be an estrangement from Christ, a falling away from grace, a reversion to life solely “in accordance with the flesh,” and the loss of the prospect of resurrection life...
... **Status Accorded or Person Transformed?**
I refer here to the long-running dispute between Reformed and Catholic theology on this point, usually referred to as the issue whether righteousness is “imputed” or “infused.”...
... we can hardly ignore Paul’s equal emphasis on the transforming character of divine grace. In the present discussion this is the point that needs to be brought out more clearly. Justification may be the most important image for the beginning and end of the process; but the in-between stage of the process, usually distinguished as “sanctification,” has to be reckoned with as well. Paul assuredly expected his converts not only to be accounted righteous but also to be transformed into better people.
      • Paul uses also the language of transformation/metamorphosis for what has happened and continues to happen to Christians (Rom. 12:2; 2 Cor. 3:18).
      • Christians are now being “conformed” to the image of Christ as they will in the end be conformed to his glorious body (Rom. 8:29; Phil. 3:10, 21); sanctification is a process of becoming like Christ.
      • Becoming a Christian means being clothed with a new self, the replacing the old self and its practices, an inner renewing in accordance with the image of its creator, something integral to the process toward the final resurrection body transformation (2 Cor. 4:16; Col. 3:9-10).
      • So, naturally, Paul expected the process of salvation to produce a tested, approved character (dokimē) (Rom. 5:4; 2 Cor. 2:9); he hoped to present his converts “pure” (hagnos, eilikrinēs), “blameless” (amōmos, aproskopos), “faultless” (amemptos), “irreproachable” (anegklētos), and “mature/perfect” (teleios) at the coming of Christ (1 Cor. 1:8; 2 Cor. 11:2; Phil 1:6, 10; Col. 1:22, 28; 1 Thess. 3:13; 5:23).
It is hard to avoid the conclusion, then, that as Paul insisted on the need for faith, so he was equally insistent that his converts should demonstrate their faith by the quality of lives they lived.
      • Paul expected obedience from his converts (Rom. 1:5; 6:16, 19; 15:18) and for his converts to “lead a life worthy of the Lord/worthy of God” (Col. 1:10; 1 Thess. 2:12);
      • He looked for “the harvest or fruit of righteousness” in their lives (2 Cor. 9:9-10; Phil. 1:11)-“righteousness” used in an Old Testament sense of acts of kindness done rather than something imputed to them (Ps. 112:9).
      • He expected believers to “fulfill” the law (Rom. 8:4), and to produce “good works” (2 Cor. 9:8; Col. 1:10).
      • In speaking of the love that fulfills the law, Paul evidently had specific conduct in mind (Rom. 12:9-13.10; Gal. 5:13-15).
      • “Keeping” the requirements of the law continued to be important for Paul (Rom. 2:26-27; 1 Cor. 7:19).
In view of the above passages, it is hard to escape the conclusion that Paul not only saw righteousness as imputed, as a status attributed, but also as a quality that he fully expected to be manifested in the lives of his converts. Whether we categorize it in terms of “infused righteousness” or of “sanctification” does not really matter. What is important is to recognize that this emphasis was also integral to Paul’s gospel and theology.

    9. The Body of Christ is not part of either (the prophesied) First and Second Resurrection. We are involved in the Rapture of the Body of Christ (which is a Mystery Resurrection).
    10. The Body of Christ started with Paul and ends at the Rapture (which takes place before the start of Daniel's 70th week).
