  • Together with Lisa I am on my way to a real mega lost place!
We explore an old clinic site that was built as early as 1942, still during wartime.
    ⬇️More information below⬇️
Join us on an exciting tour! The clinic is so big that it feels like an eternity until we have crossed the entire area.
    Kind regards, Lisa and Vanessa

It always amazes me that such a place where so much work/money was invested, just left to be slowly destroyed. I would've thought it could have been put to use by someone somewhere, and to just walk away and leave so much equipment behind wow.

Sanatoriums lost favor in western democracies beginning in the late 1970s but it really excelerated in the 1980s.by the 1990s, they fell completely out of favor. In California there were at least 12 quite large facilities for developmentally delayed, mental health patients, and those with dual diagnoses. Sanatoriums weren't hospitals in the strictest sense although doctors, nurses, and orderies worked there. By moderen standards, some were akin to horror movies: overuse of debilitating drugs, electroshock treatments, and lobotomies were not uncommon treatments. I was on one facility's human rights committee for two years, 1986 until it closed. I'm not familiar with the German facility but the Third Reich established quite a few sanatoriums. If this was one, it have a reputation that people in the area just want to forget. Many of the California facilities were simply torn down, and the memory erased.

There is probably a lot of asbestos on the old heating boilers and hot water pipes so you probably want to wear a mask . Plus lead in the old peeling paint so good thing you don't crawl around in there too much and stir up the dust. I am sure it was fun to explore that old abandoned place. Thanks for taking us on the tour.

@@SCSlimBoiseID no, they are pretty much useless and outdated. You would have to spend more money to get them running than what they are worth. The only thing of any value was that old scale.

@@Richie90090 it would cost more money to move it than it would get in scrap, that is why they left it. In the US, scrap metal prices are way down, most people only take in scrap because they need to get rid of it or off their property. You might as well get a little something if you have to get rid of it anyway.

Lots of seemingly endless hallways! I did see a beautifully done stairway - high quality construction. A lot of very valuable wooden beams in sizes no longer available. An amazing amount of grafitti. Loved that still working scale. What a huge place. Thanks Vanessa and Lisa for a cool video. Note: Viel zu viele Werbespots!

Good job meine liebe, Vanessa. It's sad that the state government gave this to the city without giving them the money to maintain it. But the same thing happens here's in the U.S. Only a very large city could maintain such a hospital. It was just too much.
Such a complex would have been torn down only after a few years of vacancy here in the U.S. Americans are a very "impatient" people. Life goes on! Thank YOU and LISA for the tour!

Hi its nice to see Lisa in the video today Vanessa , the old hospital is massive and I'm amazed to find that someone could not put it into some other use , the stone art on the wall is called tiles (Fliesen) , the room with wood on the wall called be a library (Bibliothek) , it looks like you and Lisa had a good time , you didn't meet any Nazi ghosts to chase you both round the hospital 😜 .
    Vanessa ♡♡♡.

This would have been a very nice p;ace for medical treatment or rehabilitation after an injury 80 years ago. The colors, etc., were soothing and there was an effort to get in sunlight, and so on to make the spaces in the building pleasant. Some of the kitchen equipment seems to have been made as recent as the late 1970s, so i suspect it has only been closed for about 40 years. It doesn't take long for the graffiti artist to ruin things though.

Hi Vanessa and Lisa, you've shown us many abandoned buildings, and I just love these videos, imagining the history of this massive hospital, if only walls could talk! It's still in a sound condition, but why are they always vandalized? You found what appeared to be a gymnasium, and some very artistic graffiti. All very fascinating, and thank you both for bringing me along.

A tablet of food is a food tray.
    Interesting place.
Tablets are a way medicine is formed or a small computer, or a pad of paper.
Hugs. Thank you for being you.
