Stopping by to say thank you for the video! I have some Aramis scales that I hadn't gotten around to putting on until now and I ran into the clip screw issue. You saved me the hassle of trying to figure out everything through trial and error.
Aramis makes awesome scales and is incredibly friendly and helpful. He made the carbon fiber scales for my Yojimbo 2, Delica and 0562 and G10 scales for some of my other knives. I often receive compliments about them from fellow knife nuts.
Nice. Very nice, helpful information indeed. Thumbs up! I wondered which particular model of a Wiha screwdriver you used. Was it a 1/4 shank compatible stubby driver? But most importantly, which precision bit set you used for such a job? Such a set also has to have 1/4 in shanks, no? I don't think that typical precision bits have 1/4 shanks which would fit into this particular driver. A knife enthusiast has to get a set that could be used for all brands of folders, using different screws. Wiha looks like a perfect driver for such a job. Obtaining all needed instruments is a first step anyone has to take in order to dress their knives with these beautiful scales and hardware.
Locking pliers seem to work the best if you hold the barrel spacer and just screw it off. I add some tape to the inside of the pliers to help with damage.
I had the same issue changing out my scales. I changed one side, flipped it over and then changed the other one instead of doing it all at once. * I didn't see you had standoff too. Turned out nice!
I've always detested the yojimbo because of the bottom of the stock handle looking like an actual turd, but with these scales it's squared off at the bottom and completely changes the look in my opinion. Very nice modification.
"marabou" is name for scales model, marabou stork bird with large bill is look like wharncliffe blade)) Also Aramis changed handle shape removed fingergrooves and simply straight looks better. Aramis is nice guy, thanks for video Doc))).
Thanks for the awesome video. I must admit that I was hoping to see you tackle a lanyard tube. There is some pleasure to be gained by watching someone else deal with that nightmare. Actually, I would like to know if there a secret to removing that tube. My methode was pulling, twisting and prying. Followed by using pliers wrapped in a microfiber cloth and still ended up scratching the tube a bit.
No slippy during surgery right Doc? ;) Awesome collection you have and as always thank you for your videos!! "Undoing what you've just done" my life story!
Looks great! Love those Aramix scales. One question...why the Ti stop pin? I had one on my Para 3, but being softer than the steel used for the lock bar it wore quickly and caused hellacious lock stick. I put the stock one back in...actually, all the stock hardware back. Put the blue Ti stuff on my PM2 LOL the blue stop pin looked great, but didn't turn out very functional IMO.
WOW these scales look phenomenal! I'd love to request some for my PM2 in the same design or perhaps a silver resin over the carbon fiber! I'm sure Aramis would know what I'm talking of if I referred el Doctor
Doctor Frunkey I can look into my crystal ball and see blade swaps in the distant future for all of these 😂. It’s a money pit. It oh well, there are worse things and your a Dr. so I imagine it’s not killing ya 😉. But yeah man you have the nicest set of para mi,itaries in the game for sure.
The size of screw (W) for the deep carry clip on one of the Aramis Scales should be 1.6mm / M1.6 - 6mm in length(.25 depth / pick the appropriate head type) In case you want to buy them and keep the other stock scale screws. People think this info is Top Secret James Bond stuff. If you can't find this info you have to pay some outrageous price for 3 screws. I will source them in Ti.
Can someone tell me where the website is that the carbon fiber was purchased from (that was used to make the scales featured in this video) it sounded like he said the company was called “carbon plate”.. but you get a thousand different things when you run a search for that. Lol
Maybe about 200 new from him. Since I purchased the CF and then sent it to him, it cost me a bit more. But now he is convinced to buy more carbonplate stuff. So it all works out.
I can't stand deep pocket clips. Every one I've tried had a huge hotspot on the bend part (Hogue Ritter had a bad one). For spyderco , RGT (ripps garage tech) makes the BEST clip for a spyderco knife. You can't feel it in hand, it sits great in a pocket and looks amazing being a sculpted 3D clip. He has a few finish and ano options as well as a curved clip that fits the para 2 better than a straight clip. His scales are really nice too(when he has them) but I love the custom models Aramis makes. His scales make the bugout look like a different, much sexier knife. And they look very comfortable. If I didn't have custom scales for the knives he offers i'd buy some. If I ever get a bugout, I'm hitting him up. Nice guy to talk to, same with carbonplate (helps to know the language). I ordered some similar C.F. so I can make scales for my Spyderco Smock.
Great video Doc, you are one of the best. I love you vids although I gotta say, I don't watch as much since you drifted into custom land, so take that for what it's worth. Not much. I do feel better as a human with the knowledge that I hung in and installed several Lynch clips even when the brain surgeon gave up. I would love these scales but I fear they would not fit my belt holster. I carry my YJ2's on the belt in a custom leather holster by Wicekleather on Etsy. Check that out, they are beautiful. This allows me to always have a YJ2 on me when I want to carry another knife in my pocket for hard use or food prep. Be well Frunkey and don't forget us in the manufactured knife world. : )
Doc- Aramis makes great scales. I have been buying from him for a few years. Very nice guy. Thanks for boosting his business. He deserves it.
Stopping by to say thank you for the video! I have some Aramis scales that I hadn't gotten around to putting on until now and I ran into the clip screw issue. You saved me the hassle of trying to figure out everything through trial and error.
You have some of the best looking knives on UA-cam hands down.
His new benchmade bugout scales are amazing
Thats the second best looking pm2 i have ever seen
Akhmedov is amazing. His work is well worth the wait.
Aramis makes awesome scales and is incredibly friendly and helpful. He made the carbon fiber scales for my Yojimbo 2, Delica and 0562 and G10 scales for some of my other knives. I often receive compliments about them from fellow knife nuts.
Holy crap that PM2 at the beginning with the copper/bronze is so beautiful!

Great vid man! Gonna have to pick up a pair for myself. Keep up the great content!
The Lanyard deletes are fabulous!
Doc, once again you have exceeded all expectations with this video! ‘Thank you very much’ 👍
Very nice I hope to use the same CF on my 0640 thanks for the intro BTW
Locking pliers seem to work the best if you hold the barrel spacer and just screw it off. I add some tape to the inside of the pliers to help with damage.
Great video and great job putting together some awesome knife and scale designs.
Those are nice. He did some for me in copper, as well as carbon fiber. And thank you for the deep carry option. I need a yojimbo 2. Like your channel.
Thats the sweetest lookin yojimbo ive ever layed eyes on. Quality work ma man!
hey frunkey, does Aramis Custom clip for Spyderco knives. Model S1 fir spyderco yojumbo? (not the yojimbo 2)
Just doing my toe into customizing a couple of knives that I have but have ZERO idea of where to look for parts. Is there a manual list anywhere?
What color cf is on your two PM's? All I see is either copper or brass. Yours look to be both. I'm waiting to hear back so i can buy!
I had the same issue changing out my scales. I changed one side, flipped it over and then changed the other one instead of doing it all at once. * I didn't see you had standoff too. Turned out nice!
I just ordered the same scales for my yojimbo 2 and the grand line for my paramilitary 2, both in *_impact_* *_resistant_* _usable_ G10😁🔪
I've always detested the yojimbo because of the bottom of the stock handle looking like an actual turd, but with these scales it's squared off at the bottom and completely changes the look in my opinion. Very nice modification.
This totally changes the look and it's so much better
My thoughts exactly. Completely changed it's goofy look for the better.
Probably way to late but do you still have these scales? Have been looking for them!
hi are these scales slick/slippery? or do they have some texture to them
Good video...but why don't you use small needle nose pliers...like a Gerber Dime?
"marabou" is name for scales model, marabou stork bird with large bill is look like wharncliffe blade)) Also Aramis changed handle shape removed fingergrooves and simply straight looks better. Aramis is nice guy, thanks for video Doc))).
Thanks for the translation! Excellent work from Aramis!
Great vid and really helpful for my Yojimbo too ^^ - do you sell the jade scales by any chance? best regards

Can we still get those scales like you put on that yojimbo ?
When do you use lock tight and when do you not? Inoticed other videos people apply blue lock tight to the screws?
I just got these for my yojimbo 2 and they look really dull. Did you do something to yours to make it look that good?
Damn, I will take two of those and call you in the morning.
No slippy during surgery right Doc? ;) Awesome collection you have and as always thank you for your videos!!
"Undoing what you've just done" my life story!
Hey Doc do you have any intrest in selling the jade scales?
Went to his site and didn’t see those blue resin scales. How do I order those for my Spiderco Para Military 2?
Email him
The only payment option I see for him is a bank transfer. The website said unsecure...is that normal for him? Thanks for any help you can give me!
Geez that Yojimbo is awsome.
Where’d you get the tools to remove everything ? I’m going to do a custom all blacked out knife lol idk dude blades we love goes hard
Omg these scales are sickkkkkk!!!!
Hey doc, I was wondering how long does it take to receive scales after ordering from this dude? Is it fairly quick?
Depends on how anal the customs official that clears your package is on any given day.
1 to 2 weeks production. 2 to 3 weeks shipping.
You can grow a pretty decent beard by the time you get them but they are very nice and you won’t find anything stateside as nice as his scales
Watched it with my Aramis Grand modded PM2. Same crazy carbon plate copper and gold.
Sweet!
Hey what’s the website address of the place you guys got this carbon fiber?
Awesome looks really nice thank you for sharing
Damn had bo idea i had to ask for the deep carry compatibility.
What is the hardware on that para 3 and where can I get some, been struggling to find a good set of hardware for a para 3
Great video. You are a lucky man.
Looks great! Love those Aramix scales. One question...why the Ti stop pin? Yojimbo is great. Better than the pm2! Still feel like that copper dust cf would have been better though 😉. Hard to beat...
I agree but just wanted something different
Doctor Frunkey I can look into my crystal ball and see blade swaps in the distant future for all of these 😂. It’s a money pit. It oh well, there are worse things and your a Dr. so I imagine it’s not killing ya 😉. But yeah man you have the nicest set of para mi,itaries in the game for sure.
I cant find anything of his in stock anywhere.
Looks good!
Man. Geat job.. how do you do it???👍👍👍👍👍

Those things fix that knife. Makes it cool like a skinny Shaman.

Damn! Those scales remind me of Koenig's CF.
Bad @SS I’m doing this ASAP to my pm2 and para 3 and colored hardware 💯🤙🏼🇺🇸
Now it almost looks like my old blue Yojimbo
Tim Allen is the man. Good guy.
Those pm2 scales have to be over 200 bucks, am I right?
Maybe about 200 new from him. Since I purchased the CF and then sent it to him, it cost me a bit more. But now he is convinced to buy more carbonplate stuff. So it all works out.
I just purchased blue carbon fiber scales from him for my PM2 and my total cost was $106
who is this "carbon plate " guy? can you order carbon fiber from him? if so, can someone leave me a link?

Wow! Love it! Echt geweldig.
How.come you don't have a military? I think that's my favorite Spyderco. Great video.
Just a bit too big for me
The brand of torx wrench & whether or not Loctite was used have nothing to do with each other.
🤔if a 🧠 surgeon struggles a bit with “knife surgery” , I’m thinking, I got no chance 😁
It’s really not hard just use pliers with tape to hold the standoffs and you only need one driver and it take 3 seconds
I want your natural g10 scales! Lol
They just sold! Sorry
That’s a nice knife
How did you pay this guy via PayPal?
I mean, can a knife be Sexy? Yes, yes it can!
#knifeporn
Nice
Maybe you can help me resolve this
Shit I just ordered some silver twill for my para 3 I didn't realize I would have to say for a deep carry clip to be configured
Dr., you need a scrub RN to assist!

Do you really operate on Brains?
Nice knives
Dang. Speechless...
Are
You pronouncing “Aramis” correctly? I would check that.
So weird I think UA-cam unsubscribed me from your channel

I don't see the hype with the Yojimbo in my opinion it's an ugly knife. So many better and cheaper choices.
