When clients know your standard, they'll reach out if they're the type looking for such standard. The videos help too. I'm sure he's getting some referrals as well, again, due to the quality of work
Quality work and reputation sell themselves. Not everyone will be willing to pay for it, but most will if they've done some research, even if they're on a budget. I'm that type of customer that would rather downsize the building or use less expensive finishes to save $$ rather than compromise on the core building details. Nothing else matters if the building doesn't last.

Seriously, Kyle and Greg are two of the hardest working builders you will find. They make it look easy because them have the proper tools, perfect step-by-step execution, and the get-r-done work ethic that built this country. If more people worked this hard and smart this nation would be in a lot better shape than it is. Nice job men!

Investment on tools that make things more efficient (mangi, skeed steer, folding machine…), social media strategy including partnerships for additional revenue and tool supply…They got it all! I bet they could scale up their operation but it’s probably more confortable and less risky like that..
Building that mezzanine is just like another one that he did that was 20 feet wide except this one is 300+ feet long. It’s like rinse and repeat and it’s just that’s a shit load of fucking joist hangers he’s gotta put on.
On the blocking question. Sheeting the top makes it unlikely to move but I could still see a scenario with a lot of weight moving together (maybe multiple golf carts moving at once) the entire floor could theoretically rack in one direction. Of course there's so much attached at the rim that this would basically be impossible but a block every other joist locks the entire diaphragm into a square.
What a sturdy and high quality process for building the structure for building this mezzanine. So different than residential builds. Beautiful job guys, you should be proud. 😮❤😊

Not sure what amazes me more, the fact that they build with such precision, or the fact that there is that much demand for golfcarts in that area. I mean...around me they START at $10K for battery. Even the used ones are $7500+. Those are battery powered ones too!

Designing BCI for 20+ years. You are going to want to block the top chord in those open bays, use some 2x4 if nothing else. The issue is the way they transfer loading more so than racking from side to side. The top and bottom flanges have to be continuously braced, especially with moving load that the customer will be experiencing and an unbraced bottom chord in the mid-span.
I worked in a lumber yard back in my early 20’s, and we would get rail cars of OSB from the factory in Louisiana, we would take them out of the rail car, set them down and they would curl up like a banana and then flatten out as they cooled.

I really liked the warning statement at the end. I was just about to go drive my golf cart on my 6,000+ square feet mezzanine, cause that is a normal thing that most people have, but this stopped me and kept me safe. 😂 Do what you've got to do for liability, I suppose. Great build!
When he was talking about 7’4”clearance for the carts I just kept saying in my head don’t forget about the concrete. He never mentioned it that I heard. They pour floors thick in Illinois. Maybe 6” or so.
Dang, thats a dance floor indeed. I remember when I use to haul fire wood. Cutting large and lifting them into my truck. My wife would say, do you need help? I said no. 😂 I honestly don't know how I did it back then. I'm not strong like Kyle or Greg by a long shot. But I did haul lots and lots of wood every year for my wife's grand parents. I'm happy that I got a chance to do it for them.
Next is a Barndominium Duplex lol; If you can make a loft 300 feet long, you can definitely do a long row of small efficiency rooms or even Hotel rooms!

Wow, those are some beefy beams! Wouldn't that blocking make more sense down the center span of the I joist to resist deflection under load? I also feel like there should be a few sheathed shear walls perpendicular to the length of the mezzanine every 4 or 5 bays If they're gonna be storing/loading/unloading vehicles on top.

Well, what also helps a lot is that they stick with a single construction method, that they have optimized and refined over many years.

Racking occurs with load, the infill or snogging connect each joist together. Don't doubt the engineer. Herringbone strut is better
