You know its a great explanation video when it makes you go down a monster "what if" rabbit hole. I just spent WAY too much time on the ONI wiki pages of Fandom 😅
For Pacus (or is it Pacii?, lol) you can feed them seeds (which IMO, is better) You can either tame one with Algae and then switch, or just start with seeds and your 2nd generarion will be tamed (the 1st one will die before being fully tamed, but the eggs will inherit the lower wild level, and will be tamed then)
I usually starve them most of the time, so I don't worry to much about what I feed them to be very honest. I just showed off the completely fed version for completeness sake :)
That's how I like it, simple and straightforward. It has to be relatively easily buildable in a normal game, that's usually my requirement for showing off builds. If there is an exception to that rule I will mention it :)
Wow, great video, and a really elegant Pacu farm. I love it! Thanks for sharing it! Btw, if you are looking for another video to make, I would love to see a Gulp Fish farm for converting polluted water into water.
Thank you very much, I'm always happy to read someone gets something out of these showcases! I will take a look at Gulp Fish in the future and see what I can come up with!
Gulp Fishes have a secret... their range for purifing water is about 2 tiles (kinda like the deodorizer). This means that it is possible to use them to... make an ice machine. This is NOT my discovery, and NOT my design. Credits to the author: ua-cam.com/video/WZEHFUT4ons/v-deo.html But having a Bier Tier version of that build would be awesome! How does it work: The Gulps are kept in very cold Brine (brine can go as low as -20°C), and polluted water is kept below them, separated by airflow tiles. When a Gulp consumes the pWater, the clear water it produces instantly freezes and is removed from the brine pool into a vacuum. 1x Gulp cleans 200g/s pWater, so you can plan your ice needs accordingly (50 Gulps produce 10kg/s of ice!!!) And ofc this can be improved. If you keep the Gulps in Ethanol, you could keep them at -50°C, and get even colder ice. We need this in English, pleaaaase! (And do credit the author, he has amazing builds!)
Oh, and since critters don't die immediately outside their temperature range, it might even be possible to drop the ethanol to -100°C? Or just for funsies, have the Gulps in liquid hydrogen, rofl... I didn't test that one, but the Brine one works like a charm. And since Gulps reset their temp when born and when they grow, it's mostly self regulated, depends on the temp of the pWater, I think. I need to test some more, but I was mind blown by that build.
This is amazing, I had literally no idea! I will see what I can do, If I manage to make a version of this build that can be reasonably built in a normal game(that's always the idea for all my explained videos), I will make one and I will definitely credit where credit is due :) Thank you for this!
@@BierTier Ok, I got excited, rofl. I ran some tests, ofc, in debug mode. I started with Ethanol at -50ºC (turns out, they DO die if they go below 50), and 50 Gulps. I fed it pWater at... check this out... 90ºC The ethanol stabilized at -16ºC, so using Brine instead is perfect (and Brine has around double SHC so it should be more stable) My question was... how much pWater can the Ethanol freeze before it becomes too hot? The answer is... yes... 40t of ice = prnt.sc/NQRDL_7tkzdA In 7 cycles = prnt.sc/kyKzbVB53QUz With 1ton of -50ºC Ethanol stabilized at -16ºC Some ethanol gets deleted, I do not understand why, I believe that the milisecond the water exists before freezing pushes the ethanol up a tile, and allows for a smudge of pOxygen to move upwards, and deletes it (since I started in a vacuum and now I have a bit of pO2 in the area, and the ethanol should block the offgassing. This thing is STRONK... not PETA friendly, but STRONK. I don't even want to do the math, but, from 40tons of 90C water to 40tons of -20C ice... I think some heat might have been deleted. A bit. A tiny bit.... Ok, time to go freeze my survival base. Cheers!
still hate the Fish trap with a passion because it needs Plastic with is just stupid for early food so i always just watch ealy on for paku eggs. (please make a episode about the sani Pokeshell)
Same here, Fish traps suck. No reason or the plastic there! There will be an Episode about the new Pokeshells, I just couldn't fit it into here, it was already too long :)
You are right, I did not mention that in the video and I didn't do the math. The output for the Pacu farms will be the same per Pacu though, since their life spans are the same. Just the amount of Pacus varies. If I don't forgot until next week after my vacation I will do the math on it :)
@@BierTier a dead pacu can be cooked into a 1600kcal meal. So a farm should produce 8x1600/1.5=8533kcal, ie. enough to feed 8 dupes with a bit to spare.
I do too. I just keep a massive reservoir of water directly below (often way below) the dupe portal thing and a mechanized door. That way when I get the ten pacu I can just drop them all straight down & leave them wild. But mid to late game I set aside an area to feed them all my extra seeds and get as many eggs as possible.

Nice. That pacu farm overlays were exquisitely simple. I will try both of them.

Do you want to join the Discord by any chance and share your adventures? I’d definitely welcome it :)
Nice overview, thanks

There will be an Episode about the new Pokeshells, I just couldn't fit it into here, it was already too long :)
The Pacu's living in polluted water caused a mutation, a Pacu went back in time and watched this video before it was ever made.
How do you replace Pokeshell if the 8 of them are died.?
I am missing a comparison between the builds and how many kcal they each output. Or is it the same (per pacu)
You are right, I did not mention that in the video and I didn't do the math. The output for the Pacu farms will be the same per Pacu though, since their life spans are the same. Just the amount of Pacus varies. If I don't forgot until next week after my vacation I will do the math on it :)

And I think a single farm can sustain surf’n’turf for 32 dupes, but that was quick napkin math. Could be wrong 😑
Once you have a decent sized farm you tend to accumulate seeds.
Yeah, that does make sense. I usually starve my Pacus, so I haven't really paid too much attention to the seeds to be quiet honest.
I do too. I just keep a massive reservoir of water directly below (often way below) the dupe portal thing and a mechanized door. can you show us a sani pinch roe farm :o
I will do that in the future, just didn’t work out for this episode :)
I guess animal welfare wasn’t a top priority.
Unfortunately not, working toward the greater good :D
I'm sorry but the fact that you are a german engineer playing a game with gasses will inevitably lead to bad jokes
Yeah, that will be inevitable, but that's fine, lol. As long as it doesn't get me banned :D
how much lime per cycle a Pacu farm of 1 pacu gives ?
