The Second Commandment is thou shalt not make any graven image. It is idolatry to worship false gods or the true God by statues or pictures. First, no one knows how Jesus looks like so how can you make an image of him? There are graven images in Roman Catholic Churches. Right away you see when Catholics bow down and pray to images of Mary it is idolatry. God is not wood, stone, or metal and he will not be worshipped as if he was a man-made item.
God is extremely serious when it comes to idols. There will be a day when many people who claim to be Christian will be caught lacking and will be thrown into hell for their blatant idolatry against God. Do not be that person who tries to twist Scripture and find any way possible to do something that is not supposed to be done. Nobody wants to listen to the truth anymore, but always remember God will not be mocked.
      What does the Bible say?
      1. Exodus 20:4-6 “You must not make for yourself an idol of any kind or an image of anything in the heavens or on the earth or in the sea. You must not bow down to them or worship them, for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God who will not tolerate your affection for any other gods. I lay the sins of the parents upon their children; the entire family is affected-even children in the third and fourth generations of those who reject me. But I lavish unfailing love for a thousand generations on those who love me and obey my commands.
      2. Deuteronomy 4:23-24 Be careful not to forget the covenant of the LORD your God that he made with you; do not make for yourselves an idol in the form of anything the LORD your God has forbidden. For the LORD your God is a consuming fire, a jealous God.
      3. Exodus 34:14 Do not worship any other god, for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God.
      4. Colossians 3:5 Therefore consider the members of your earthly body as dead to immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and greed, which amounts to idolatry.
      5. Deuteronomy 4:16-18 so that you do not act corruptly and make a graven image for yourselves in the form of any figure, the likeness of male or female, the likeness of any animal that is on the earth, the likeness of any winged bird that flies in the sky, the likeness of anything that creeps on the ground, the likeness of any fish that is in the water below the earth.
      6. Leviticus 26:1 “Do not make idols or set up carved images, or sacred pillars, or sculptured stones in your land so you may worship them. I am the LORD your God.
      7. Psalm 97:7 All who worship images are put to shame, those who boast in idols- worship him, all you gods!
Worship God in spirit and in truth
      8. John 4:23-24 Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.”
God shares his glory with no one
      9. Isaiah 42:8 “I am the LORD; that is my name! I will not give my glory to anyone else, nor share my praise with carved idols.
      10. Revelation 19:10 Then I fell down at his feet to worship him, but he said, “No, don’t worship me. I am a servant of God, just like you and your brothers and sisters who testify about their faith in Jesus. Worship only God. For the essence of prophecy is to give a clear witness for Jesus.”
      Reminders
      11. Isaiah 44:8-11 Do not tremble, do not be afraid. Did I not proclaim this and foretell it long ago? You are my witnesses. Is there any God besides me? No, there is no other Rock; I know not one.” All who make idols are nothing, and the things they treasure are worthless. Those who would speak up for them are blind; they are ignorant, to their own shame. Who shapes a god and casts an idol, which can profit nothing? People who do that will be put to shame; such craftsmen are only human beings. Let them all come together and take their stand; they will be brought down to terror and shame.
      12. Habakkuk 2:18 “Of what value is an idol carved by a craftsman? Or an image that teaches lies? For the one who makes it trusts in his own creation; he makes idols that cannot speak.
      13. Jeremiah 10:14-15 Every man is stupid and without knowledge; every goldsmith is put to shame by his idols, for his images are false, and there is no breath in them. They are worthless, a work of delusion; at the time of their punishment they shall perish.
      14. Leviticus 19:4 Do not put your trust in idols or make metal images of gods for yourselves. I am the LORD your God. God’s kingdom
      15. Ephesians 5:5 For of this you can be sure: No immoral, impure or greedy person--such a person is an idolater-has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. 16. 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.
      End times
      17. 1 Timothy 4:1 Now the Spirit expressly says that in later times some will depart from the faith by devoting themselves to deceitful spirits and teachings of demons,
      18. 2 Timothy 4:3-4 For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths. Bible examples
      19. Judges 17:4 Yet he restored the money unto his mother; and his mother took two hundred shekels of silver, and gave them to the founder, who made thereof a graven image and a molten image: and they were in the house of Micah.
      20. Nahum 1:14 And this is what the LORD says concerning the Assyrians in Nineveh: “You will have no more children to carry on your name. I will destroy all the idols in the temples of your gods. I am preparing a grave for you because you are despicable!”
      21. Judges 18:30 And the children of Dan set up the graven image: and Jonathan, the son of Gershom, the son of Manasseh, he and his sons were priests to the tribe of Dan until the day of the captivity of the land.

@@davidn9518 That is very flawed and wrong logic…
Just because the Bible doesn’t explicitly state something, it doesn’t automatically make the opposite true.
The Bible doesn’t specifically say ‘saints can’t hear us,’ but it also doesn’t say they can.
The argument that ‘if the Bible doesn’t forbid it, it must be allowed’ is dangerous because it could be applied to many false practices.
      For example,
The Bible doesn’t specify that it’s wrong to abuse animals, so can we conclude that animal cruelty is acceptable?

So citation please.

@@davidn9518 Well you shouldn’t clump all Protestants into one bubble, brother.
I don’t agree with that technique which you are right, a lot of protestants use.
Of course it is important for something to be based in the word of God, but yes there are some things which aren’t in it - for example using wedding rings when you get married etc. thats not in the bible yet it is completely fine.
But anyways i just don’t think its normal for a human who has moved on to the next life to be able to hear people on this earth. I believe only God can hear us.
Now what I realized is that I wouldn’t have a problem with someone praying to God to ask for Him to tell the saints to pray for us, but my problem is with the idea that one can speak to Saints who aren’t living on Earth.
For example If be okay with saying “My heavenly Father, please have your saints pray for me for this situation im facing.”
But I wouldn’t say “Saint Joseph pray for me in this situation I’m facing”
It makes it seem as if one speaks directly to saints who aren’t on Earth…

First of all, Protestants do not denigrate Mary. It’s unfortunate that he used that word. Mary was the vessel through which Christ came into the world, and her role in His birth is deeply appreciated. However, nowhere in the Bible are we instructed to give her the kind of veneration that Catholics do.
The Bible does not ask us to pray to Mary, nor does it state that she intercedes with the Father on our behalf as Jesus does. Therefore, we are not called to include her in our prayers in the way Catholics do.

Sam, God bless your integrity and humbleness. It is not easy for humans saved or unsaved, to admit when we’ve been wrong. But you’ve given your brothers an example to follow. I get discouraged t times when I see Christians from different faith traditions get caught up in petty disagreements, rather than coming together in harmony with our commonality.
I was raised in the Catholic Church and school system. When I came to salvation it was in the Protestant church. And I wouldn’t change that for all the money in the world. But it did give rise to questions and concerns about some Catholic practices. For example the exoneration of the Mother Mary. But after watching a couple of your videos on the subject, I feel I can relax and reach out to Mary as well for example my Mom, who I know is in heaven. She was the faith leader/Christian Matriarch of our family. I just always thought, once she’d left to be with Lord, all knowledge of her family and 7 children would be wiped away. It’s a comforting thought knowing she is with Jesus, and still watching out for her family, even my children and grandchildren. And know understanding she’s achieved perfection in the Lord, I finally understand that her attendance to heavens Church and prayers would be so much more heard my the Lord❤

Catholics have no idols in Christ in His Church.
But His Mother is honored in our churches.. He would never refuse His mother. At her request, against His thinking of His time not right before the Heavenly Father, obeyed His mother performing His first miracle at the wedding of Cana.
No one can see God can live.
But Mary every day and night saw the face of God in her son.
We do not take God casually Who can refuse us at the gate of heaven.
To be Christ’s mother is a reality beyond us. Likewise she shared only what Christ wanted, our redemption and salvation. Mary cared for nothing else but to fulfill God’s mission for her. Her eyes did not wander or seek physical pleasure.

Question: Why did Christ say "Woman, what have I to do with you?" (Yes I know He then fulfilled her request, which makes one question all the more what the point of His statement was). Next one: If the interpretation of all generations calling her blessed must be that making appeals to her spirit/ glorified being must be a required liturgical element, rather than acknowledgement simply affirmed in the course of reading those passages, and of course especially highlighted by and through the Spirit as a testimony at the time and place the events occurred, just as the Spirit has attested other events at the time they happened, then why do none of the epistles make mention of her in their beginning and ending blessings? I definitely call Mary blessed, I affirm that she was a singular human being granted a privilege and responsibility conferred on no other, and that perhaps only meeting Christ Himself will outshine the opportunity to meet her in eternity. I have a hard time getting around one God, and one mediator between man and God, however.

IF IT IS WRONG TO MAKE GRAVEN IMAGES, WHY DID GOD COMMAND MOSES TO MAKE ONE?
PROBLEM: God clearly commanded in Exodus 20:4: “You shall not make for yourself any carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath.” Yet here Moses is instructed by God to “make two cherubim of gold; of hammered work” (v. 18). If making images of any heavenly object is wrong, then why did God command Moses to make some on the ark of the covenant?
SOLUTION: The prohibition against making graven images was distinctly set in the context of worshiping idols. There are, then, several reasons why making the cherubim does not conflict with this command not to bow down to graven images. First, there was no chance that the people of Israel would fall down before the cherubim in the most holy place, since they were forbidden to go in the holy place at any time. Even the high priest went only once a year on the Day of Atonement (Lev. 16).
Further, the prohibition is not against making any carved image for decorative purposes, but of those used in religious worship. In other words, they were not to worship any other God or any image of any god. These cherubim were not given to Israel as images of God; they were angels. Nor were they given to be worshiped. Hence, there is no way in which the command to make them violated the commandment in Exodus 20.
Finally, the prohibition in Exodus 20 is not against religious art as such, which includes things in heaven (angels) and on earth (humans or animals). Rather, it was against using any image as an idol. That idolatry envisioned is evident from the fact they were instructed not to “bow down to them nor serve them” (Ex. 20:5). The distinction between non-religious use of images and a religious use is important:
THE USE OF IMAGES OR REPRESENTATIONS OF GOD
Even language about God in the Bible contains images. God is both a shepherd and a father. But each of these is appropriately qualified. God is not just any father. He is our Heavenly Father. Likewise, Jesus is not just any shepherd, but the Good Shepherd who gave His life for His sheep (John 10:11). No finite image can be appropriately applied to the infinite God without qualification. To do so is idolatry. And idols are idols whether they are mental or metal.

Prayer - Is a form of communication.
      (It does not mean Worship)
Explanation: Prayer is a way to talk to God, like having a conversation. While some prayers include worship (such as praising God’s greatness), others are simply requests, confessions, or expressions of gratitude.
      Example:
. If you pray to God asking for help with your monthly bills, that prayer is a request - not an act of worship. You are sharing your needs, not worshipping God because of your financial situation.
. Just like when you ask someone to pray for you, the difference is that Mary, Jesus’ Blessed Mother, is literally with Jesus right now in Heaven. Isn’t it more likely that Jesus would listen to His Blessed Mother(who He specifically choose to be inside her belly/physically designed to come into the world) who is right beside Him, just like He did at the wedding at Cana?
(John 2:1-11): When the wine ran out, Mary told Jesus, “They have no more wine.” Even though Jesus initially said, “My hour has not yet come,” He still performed the miracle at her request.

Look how Apostle Paul handles Mother Mary.
    Galatians 4
4 But when the set time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under the law,
    ...
26 But the Jerusalem that is above is free, and she is our mother
When he talks about Jesus coming through woman, Paul never exalts Mother Mary or specially mention her, he just states her as "a woman," but in the SAME CHAPTER when he talks about the holy city of Jerusalem, he calls it "Our mother."
Apostle Paul never had any interest in exalting Mary, nor he needed to.
Imagine what these "Apostolic Priests" would've said if they were writing that verse. they would've said "born of a woman, our holy mother, the closest human being to our Lord, higher than any human, dwells up in the heaven, our most highness Saint Forever Virgin Mary."
Paul says A woman. That's all. God sent Jesus through a woman, whom was Mary, she was used for that, and she is a blessed woman for that. End of the story. That is "APOSTOLIC."

It doesn't discount what Luke wrote. We should interpret according to the entirety of the scripture and the norm and the belief from the Early Churches. The Lord called his mother WOMAN too at the crucifixion : Before He died, while hanging on the cross, Jesus looked at His mother and His beloved apostle, John (the only one present) and said “'Woman, behold, your son! ' Then He said to the disciple, 'Behold your mother! '” . Whose mother ? and And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel.”So this Woman is essential if you see the connection rather than saying our Holy Mother.

But rather im seeking the truth. Is Mary able to hear all our prayers to the Lord? When catholics ask her to pray on their behalf, how is she able to hear all those requests? Also since Jesus said "I am the Way the Truth & the Life, no one gets to the Father except through me" did he mean that anything we ask in his name will be granted by the Father? If that is the case, wouldnt that mean that we NEED only Jesus? & Veneration is an acknowledgement and showing respect to the saints? Essentially what I am asking is does Veneration affect salvation?

I believe you aren’t understanding just as I was when I was a Protestant.
Intercession and mediation are two different things.
Praying to Mary or other saints is asking for intercession.
Just as you a Protestant would ask a church member to pray for you, you are asking for intercession.
What Protestants don’t have is 2000 years of church history and tradition. Therefore they do not understand the church militant and church triumphant of the body of Christ.
Those who have passed on in the body are in the church triumphant.
Prayer from one who is holy is powerful. Who is truly holy other than those who have been redeemed?
Why can’t you ask for prayer/intercession from the church triumphant?
That Is a Christian tradition for 2000 years.
Most Protestant denominations today started from the 1800s to the last 50 years.
Protestants do not have these traditions and teachings passed on my the apostles and church fathers.
In essence Protestants made up their own church based on interpretations of each individual who started that church.

So Mary is one of us…

You know you don’t honor Mary, because I will ask you, how do you honour her and you would not be able to answer…
Moreover, you should read Lk1:48… Have you called her Blessed Mary ever??? If you have not acknowledged this, when the Holy Spirit overshadowed her and Jesus Christ was in her womb, and she uttered those words, then you have not even honored her one bit…
      Edit:
Do you ask Jesus to pray for you??? If you think asking Mary to pray for you is worship, I dare you to say Jesus pray for me… Jesus is our mediator right??? And you can ask only the mediator to pray for you, so I dare you to say it…

Because in Mexico the church teaches that She was conceived without the original sin.

5 For even His brothers did not believe in Him.
6 Then Jesus said to them, “My time has not yet come, but your time is always ready.
7 “The world cannot hate you, but it hates Me because I testify of it that its works are evil.
8 “You go up to this feast. I am not yet going up to this feast, for My time has not yet fully come.”

@gerardoreyes 721 The original reformers, Luther, Calvin and Zwingli, not only accepted but openly expressed their belief in Mary remaining a virgin her whole life. And even some of the latter important Protestant figures like Cranmer and Wesley kept this belief.
Cardinal Newman, a convert to the Catholic faith - “nothing can bring a clean thing out of an unclean.” In other words, to bear the perfect sinless Son of God, Mary must be sinless herself - as Catholics would say, immaculately conceived.
That Christians from the very beginning adorned their catacombs with paintings of Christ, of the saints, of scenes from the Bible and allegorical groups is obvious.
The catacombs are the cradle of all Christian art. Since their discovery in the sixteenth century-on May 31, 1578, an accident revealed part of the catacomb in the Via Salaria-and the investigation of their contents that has gone on steadily ever since, we are able to reconstruct an exact idea of the paintings that adorned them. That the first Christians had any sort of prejudice against images, pictures, or statues is a myth (defended amongst others by Erasmus) that has been abundantly dispelled by all students of Christian archaeology. The idea that they must have feared the danger of idolatry among their new converts is disproved in the simplest way by the pictures, even statues, that remain from the first centuries. Even the Jewish Christians had no reason to be prejudiced against pictures, as we have seen; still less had the Gentile communities any such feeling. They accepted the art of their time and used it, as well as a poor and persecuted community could, to express their religious ideas

Come on, so John The Baptist was greater than Mary *until the Pentecost* and then they switched positions? That's a weak reasoning. Moreover, don't you realize that The Great Apostles of our Lord received The Word of Jesus and did them, to the point that even Paul could say, " Follow me as I follow Christ."? Mary didn't say that, neither did any of them say, " Follow Mary as she followed Christ.". If you think that protestants, by expressing their stance in Mary's dogmas, are denigrating her, you should be happy rather than spending your energy to find out how you can defend and elevate her by The Word of God, which you actually twist. Doesn't our Lord say, not simply said but *still says* that if we were maligned, it's for our glory? Don't you know that we even need not defend our Lord Jesus Christ, however non-believers may depict Him? We don't need to bomb Jesus's blasphemers as the Muslims do when Mohammed is insulted. We ought to defend THE WORD OF JESUS CHRIST in its entirety. And no one rejects anything Mary said within the covers of The Scriptures. Outside of The Scriptures, no matter what the so-called church fathers wrote or believed, whatever is attributed to Mary is a shaking ground.

Sam, I see how a connection can be made between Luke 11:28 (a general definition of those blessed; "...they that hear the word of God, and keep it") and Luke 8:21 (specific definition of those blessed: "...My mother and my brethren are these...").
However, both these verses use plural language and, if actually intended by the Holy Spirit to be connected, must necessarily refer to the entire group of people Jesus spoke about: His mother & His brothers.
Within the language of those verses I see no room for elevating Mary, the mother of Jesus, above Jesus' brothers.
With this understanding of these verses I don't read any "denigration" into the text, nor do I read a singular (Mary only) into the text since Jesus included His brothers when He defined who "...they that hear the word of God, and keep it" are.
    ---
As for Elisabeth's experience with the Holy Spirit after Mary's greeting, I see that as one of the two witnesses required ("In the mouth of two or three witnesses shall every word be established"), and Joseph being the other after his dream stopped him from discharging Mary.
Without those two witnesses attesting to Mary's visitation by the angel we can assume there would be nothing to write about in the Bible since Mary would eventually be proven a liar one way or the other: Either she wouldn't give birth or she would have been shown NOT to be a virgin before she gave birth.

But does that make her the queen of heaven? As Iv been told ever since I could remember. I grew up Catholic, over the past 20 years I have been on a journey to seek truth, and gain a relationship with Jesus. I believe the Lord has sent me on quite the journey, and it may lead full circle. I have always believed that Mary is blessed among all other women because God chose her, specifically. So of course she’s exceptionally blessed and deserves more honor than ordinary women. We learn, in the Bible, that men are not greater than women, each hold different rolls but are still equally the same. Since Jesus is the infinite God and the King of heaven, is Mary equal to him while being the Queen of heaven?

Divine Awareness: Many Christians believe that John the Baptist, even in the womb, had a unique awareness of the presence of Jesus. This suggests a special connection to the divine mission that John would later fulfill as the forerunner of Christ. His leap can be seen as an instinctive response to the presence of the Messiah.
Holy Spirit's Influence: According to Luke 1:41, Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit when she heard Mary’s greeting. This filling of the Holy Spirit likely extended to John as well, causing him to leap for joy. This highlights the belief that God's Spirit can influence even the unborn.
Joyful Recognition: The leap can be interpreted as an expression of joy and recognition of Jesus’ significance. It symbolizes the deep joy that comes from encountering the Savior, even at such an early stage of life. This moment emphasizes the sanctity and value of life before birth, indicating that even the unborn can experience spiritual joy.
Significance of Mary’s Role: Mary’s visit to Elizabeth also underscores her role in God's plan. By carrying Jesus, the Incarnation, Mary brings the presence of God into the world. John’s response reflects the importance of Mary’s role as the mother of the Messiah and foreshadows the joy that Jesus will bring to many.
Covenantal Fulfillment: From a theological perspective, John’s leap can signify the fulfillment of God's promises throughout the Old Testament. His joyful response to the presence of Jesus illustrates the anticipation of the Messiah's coming and the hope that accompanies that event.
In summary, the leap of John the Baptist in Elizabeth's womb is a powerful moment that reflects divine awareness, the influence of the Holy Spirit, and the joy of recognizing Jesus’ presence, highlighting the significance of life and the roles of Mary and John within the biblical narrative.

Do I believe Mary was the most blessed among women? Yes I do. The scripture says so. She was chosen to be the mother of Jesus because of her faith.
Do I, or would I, ever pray to or ask Mary or any of the saints, to intercede with Jesus for me? No. Because the scriptures are clear that Jesus is the intercessor.
No where in the scriptures did anyone teach to pray to a passed on believer or prophet or Mary on your behalf to God or Jesus. You are taught to pray for earthly brothers and sisters to the Father through Jesus, not pray to Jesus through his mother.
And no one in the Bible was ever shown to do so. Not one single person in the Bible, not even Jesus, did.
But the Bible did state not to add or subtract or teach anything not written in the Bible after revelations. So if praying to Mary and/or the saints was something believers were supposed to do, why wasn’t that put in the scriptures clearly?

They accepted the art of their time and used it, as well as a poor and persecuted community could, to express their religious ideas.

@afroditetrombetta-kioupour1593 Mary had no proudness in her heart. Some Protestants honor Mary. Luther believed that Mary was conceived without original sin, and that her flesh and blood were purified. He called this his "Immaculate Purification" position. He referred to Mary as "the most blessed Mother of God" and "the Mother of Christ". He believed that Mary was the true mother of God and the spiritual mother of all Christians.
Luther believed that Mary should be honored, and that Christians should learn from her faith and virtues. He celebrated the feasts of Annunciation, Visitation, Purification, and Christmas. Luther believed that Mary remained a virgin after giving birth to Jesus.

Mary exemplifies profound faith and stands as a truly blessed and unique figure as the mother of Jesus. The practice of creating statues of her and praying to them strikes me as fundamentally inappropriate. One can reasonably argue that she would not condone such actions, given her unwavering dedication to praising God and adhering to His directives.
It’s crucial to recognize that, while she is a significant figure in the narrative of Christianity, she remains part of creation, just as we all are. Our worship should be directed toward the Creator, not the created. All prayer, worship, or praise must be aimed at the Trinity, which reflects the foundational belief that God alone is worthy of such reverence. Moreover, praying to any individuals mentioned in the Bible, aside from God, is considered a sin. This distinction serves to maintain the integrity of our spiritual practice and emphasizes the importance of cultivating a direct relationship with the divine.

@builder101-x9j That Christians from the very beginning adorned their catacombs with paintings of Christ, of the saints, of scenes from the Bible and allegorical groups is too obvious and too well-known. They accepted the art of their time and used it, as well as a poor and persecuted community could, to express their religious ideas.

    Galatians 1:6-9
[6]I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel:
[7]Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.
[8]But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.
[9]As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.

First of all, Protestants do not denigrate Mary. It’s unfortunate that you used that word.

Jesus also never claimed to shed the blood for „everybody“. Why the sinners are acting that way? For many „not for all“! Think about it!

She is full of grace, immaculately conceived and did not have other children. She was exactly the new arc of the covenant. Not to be touched by human hands. She was covered by the glory cloud she was perfect form birth. The Lord gave her to John a non relative as he was dying on the cross. In the world especially in Jesus tradition only family took in other family members so if Jesus had siblings why didn’t he leave her care to one of them!
