The interviewer is trying to demean her here and make reductive comments. First notice the body language - Doro is sat back a bit and the interviewer is leaning forward in a way that would make me feel uncomfortable. It's too close and I've had people do this to me before when they're trying to patronise me. Then, the interviewer doesn't just Doro her about her image and accepts the answer. The interviewer clearly has an opinion to put forward and wants Doro to agree that yes, their success as a band is due to Doro's glam image (reducing the importance of her music). Maybe that is partly so, but to press on it like that in the interview was unfair. Then she subtly insinuates that they're selling out, that they're getting more commercial by their softer sounding 2nd album. I'm wondering if this interviewer was jealous that Doro has been performing with Blackie Lawless of WASP. This would have been about the same time. And what the hell was the demand for the chewing gum, putting her hand out like that??? 😆
I wish I was around back then to see them
