Heartbreaking that this place has been left in such a state. I can’t get my head round it. The bloke who owned it was clearly very talented and educated. You did a great job Jay in being very respectful to the house and it’s previous owner. I’m sure the bloke would have been happy you was documenting what once was his beautiful home! Top vid bro! @@TheUrbanCollectiveWeFilmIt How is it respectful to show such disarray with personal items strewn all over the place, posters from old art exhibitions seemingly dumped in piles and even showing a close-up of an old passport??? Maybe he's still around? Why would he leave all his things behind? Is he dead or does he simply not want to be found? This video is very morbid and upsetting because he's my big brother and I don't know where the hell he is...

We are extremely sorry to hear that Martine we had no intention whatsoever of ever upsetting anybody and do have the utmost respect for the places we visit and history we gather. As Im sure you'll find there are multiple videos of this place around the web and most are done in a very mediocre and extremely disrespectful manner compared to this one. We blurred out the passport in the video and did not film documents etc relating to the occupant as a lot of the other explorers did. Anyway, the last thing I want is to have offended you in any way shape or form we were truly intrigued and in awe by this place and by the previous occupant and the video was made to represent this.
Hough Hall is an extremely valuable part of Mostons heritage and the story left by the previous occupant was extremely compelling. As for the whereabouts of your brother, we really do hope he's ok and if we hear anything about his whereabouts from the feedback we get on this video you will be the first person to know. There is actually a comment below stating that he may be in Japan and we know a few people who are actively trying to find him in the hopes of getting the old place restored.
Please understand we did not have any intention of offence by making this or any other of our videos they are purely for historical purposes only.
      Take care!

@@TheUrbanCollectiveWeFilmIt You haven't offended me as such, it's just devastating to see my brother's belongings like that in a UA-cam video. He's a very talented artist who, when he was young, had a fantastic future ahead of him, so it makes me so very, very sad. Box was an artistic installation that travelled around the UK, including the Tate Gallery, and I ran some of his shows for him at the time. He became involved with a tutor at uni (she should have know better not to date one of her students) and he foolishly married her, plunging him into the marriage from hell because after having a child together she left him and never allowed him to see his daughter again - and I don't think he ever recovered as no parent gets over the loss of a child... I shouldn't be talking about his personal issues, however, I believe, from one of our cousins, that his long-standing partner Heather, who bought the Hall with him, died a few years ago. I would be very grateful if you would let me know if you find out where he is - Thank you.

It's great but sad to see this, but thanks! My ancestors lived at Hough Hall. James Simpson Ward was the head of the household in the 1881 census; he lived there with his wife Ann and their 6 children. James had a brother, John Ward who was an alderman of Manchester. John published 2 books in 1910 Moston Characters at Work and Moston Characters at Play. It must have been a wonderful family home back in the day.

Bloody hell! This is epic mate! You stumble across a building dating back to AT LEAST 1591 (when Elizabeth Ist was on the throne), that I never even heard of even though I only live 20 minutes away and mst have driven past hundreds of times, that has been largely undisturbed over the centuries, complete with original Jacobean panelling and beams intact. Some of those beams may be from trees that were around at the time of the battle of Hastings in 1066! - not only that, a mystery time capsule of the life of an artist that just walked out one day, leaving possessions, photographs and unfinished paintings. When you read about the said person (don't want to be a spoiler), the whole thing is shrouded in mystery and intrigue. One of the best urban explorations I've ever seen on YT. Must have been like winning the lottery when you found this! PS - I wonder if there was still a film in that little camera?

Yeah unbelievable this place m8 and theres no question about the build and qulaity its all ancient materials and to be still stood up after all these years just goes to show they certainly dont make them like they used to.
When you walk into a place like this I suppose its the closest thing to time travel so in a certain respect we are time travellers and as for the film even if there was film in it we wouldnt be able to take it to check whats on it due to our moral code, but, my lord I would love to know. Honest Alan Ive seen so many things doing this that most people wouldnt believe me when i told them.
