  • Have a crack in your racket? Lost the power? Here we discuss how racket damage affects your play and when you should change your racket!
    There are different types of cracks, all of which have slightly different affects on its responsiveness. Unlike tennis strings breaking, you can play with your racket for a little while once you break it usually. You can play with some cracks longer than others!

    Thanks for the video Sandy!
    I'll give it a shot at attempting to answer the question:
    - Most pros will change a racket every 50-100h of high level play/training ( some even a bit more often ), with good Padel rackets. High temperature environments WILL make it so they change more often as well.
    - For your average Joe like myself, that plays 3-5 times a week ( 12-20h/month ) , with medium level of play, in a temperate climate and with a medium-high end racket, I would say it translates roughly to 6-12 months between every racket change.
    - This of course excludes any damages to your racket which will precipitate a faster racket change.

    • @ThePadelSchool
      @ThePadelSchool  3 роки тому +2

      I would say that's accurate. Although it only takes one clash with a partner racket or with the glass to start the damage... but I agree on the most part!

  • @Mea600
    @Mea600 3 роки тому +2

    Hello Sandy. Nice and quite complete video. I need to correct one information: high temperatures are not a critical problem for once or several times. The materials will not be damaged, just the foam will be quite softer with the risk of cracking the face if the player hits with lot of power. This risk is higher for foams and fiberglas rackets and less risk for high density EVA foams and carbon with high K layers. The main problem for all racket types is the material aging, it means, the racket is becoming temperature cycles hot/cold during time (like Dubai for example). Same recomendation in any case: never leave the rackets in the car !!

    • @ThePadelSchool
      @ThePadelSchool  3 роки тому +2

      Mea600 interesting. The rackets I’ve played with after being left in hot environment have been noticeably softer. You consider the extra softness and making the racket more brittle (possibility of breaking after powerful shots) - not damaging the racket...? Didn’t know that difference between the high density Eva foam. I’ve seen a huge difference when someone left an AdiPower racket in the heat! Thank you for your input 👍 interesting!

    • @Mea600
      @Mea600 3 роки тому +1

      @@ThePadelSchool I think we are meaning the same :-) What I mean is that the high temperature only combined with power shots are a big risk (almost for fiberglas rackets). If the racket becames hot or cold but is not used, it should be not a problem. The temperature cycles is the main degradation factor for the foams and generally for plastics.

    Hi Sandy, dont you think that the protective strip changes the balance of the racket quite a bit? Thats my experience at least.

    • @fuckedupswede
      @fuckedupswede 3 роки тому

      ofcourse it does, anything that adds weight changes the balance mate :)

    • @ThePadelSchool
      @ThePadelSchool  3 роки тому

      Yes, it does add a bit of weight. That is normally why I try the rackets with an existing protective strip. But yes, it is a consideration for more advanced players (most advanced rackets come with that protection).

    Hi Sandy, I’ve had two adipower ctrl 2.0 crack in short time. There is no outer damage on them, its kind of like hairline cracks from both sides of the handle and up. One i already returned and got a new one but the new one ha the same kind of damage after only three weeks. Is there a quality issue with these rackets or why does this happen? The racket is put in a bag and then in an adidas padel backpack. Never used outside, not left in car etc

    • @ThePadelSchool
      @ThePadelSchool  3 роки тому +1

      I believe its a split in the lacquer (not a damage that will affect the performance). I have heard that has happened to a few rackets...

      @@ThePadelSchool I understand, seems like a bit of a production issue/flaw. Problem is that once one has appeared, several follow. Since the first appeared three matches ago, i now have five new ones appearing on the same side. One has appeared between two holes and is more of a crack whichis concerning. Its a shame because the racket is brilliant to play with but i really don’t fancy trying a third one.
