- Catching and cooking on the beach. Surf fishing the Oregon coast on an incoming high tide is the best time to catch redtail surf perch. They are great eating, especially when you cook them fresh right on the beach. I cooked rice and pan seared the surf perch.

HAPPY HOLIDAY, FOLKS!
Good one PK. I always learn something form your videos. Not like the others. They just show you their catch but won’t tell you how they got them . More power PK
Great video and nice RedTails! Can’t wait to get back out there!
I like when you mention the date and time you go out along with the weather and surf conditions. It's helpful.
Merry Christmas from
Australia.. All ways love your videos.
You are making me very hungry 😂😂😂
...just one more... Man, if I had a nickel for every time I've said that. 😁👍
Happy New Year, sir.
Love the catch and cooks!!!! Always makes me hungry. Can't wait to get out there myself.
So great!
Happy Holidays, PK.
Fish skin (once you've cleaned it) is very healthy - high in omega 3, protein and vitamin E!
I love to smoke steelhead and salmon filets skin on and then after carefully removing flesh, I fry up the skins and eat them as chips! So good!
Another great video, thanks.
Happy Holidays, PK! 🎅🎄☃️🎣
Happy Holidays PK.
Thank you for sharing your awesome video.
Appreciate your hard work to capture the content.
You Rock 😉👍🏾
PK. Thank you for the great videos. So helpful, any chance you can give specific locations on the Oregon coast beaches you park and fish for some of us newbie’s 😅
Way to go, PK! Merry Christmas to you and yours!🎉😊
Another great video PK. Thank you for all your instruction. We were at Seaside Dec 18-22 and managed to sneak out for a couple hours 2 days. My wife got her first surf perch on the trip (8 actually) in no small part to your help in the videos. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. Happy Holidays
Nice! Happy holidays to you guys.
🎁Now Christmas is complete!...😁🎅🏿🎄
Happy Holidays PK.
This is a catch and cook for you but a watch and drool for me. 😁 Those cooked fillets look amazing!.
Happy holidays to you and yours too PK, another amazing video.
I see you like to keep a towel on you. I do this, however I use some large grommets and cheap carabiners. You can fold over the corner of the towel to double layer it and put a large grommet there and then clip it with a small carabiner(small so it can fit through the grommet) so you can hook it on a loop of your clothing. Gives you more options. 🙂
You can get a grommet kit pretty cheap off Amazon with the small carabiners or hit up true value.
Thanks PK for sharing your video. I’m going fishing for surf perch this weekend and was looking at the Jetty area north of Netarts. We’ll be clamming in the morning during minus tide and then going to catch the high tide shortly before noon. Is that a good area to fish? I will be using your high/low technique and sandworm by Berkeley Strike. If I can dig up some sandcrabs illl use those as well as my preferred bait. I’m also looking at bass fishing at a pond nearby here in Tigard. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!
Merry xMas PK ...thanks for the CNC
Do you fish the ripe currents.? Incoming tide is best? Fish the whole tide? Merry Christmas
I usually prefer the incoming tide. It's usually when I have the most luck.
Hey PK. Fish Field has a fish bag you can throw over your shoulder. Clear plastic on 1 side and mesh on the other. Plastic is to protect from fish spines. Just a suggestion
I was using a 9'6" Ugly Stik - recently bought the 11' Rockaway from Okuma - have you tried the Rockaway? Penn Battle II reel.
Haven't tried it yet. I use a 10 ft salmon, which works fine on a Shimano 4000 reel.
@@oregonlife I imagine it comes down to comfort. =) Presentation has gotta be the most important.
PK Happy Holidays! Good commentary on your fishing techniques. Good field dressing fish. What's the new bait you've been using recently?
Gulp shrimp.
Hi Pk what color gulp shrimp do you suggest? Thank you
@@freddiegonz4113 "Natural" I believe
@@theoldsurffisher1943 thank you
Great video PK. Suggestion: Bring the lid on your bucket and then you can use that as your cutting board. Either that or flip over the bucket. Also, slash the skin to keep the filets from curling.
Do you only fish in December?
How long is your driving to the beach
About an hour and a half.
What rod are you using in this video
It's a (discontinued) Cabela's Tourney Trail IM8 10 ft salmon rod.
@@oregonlife thank you is it close to the celilo
@@BadFishBaits Very similar. I have a Celilo and use that extensively too for surf fishing.
@@oregonlife I’m gonna be using it for 1oz Carolina rigs mostly but can I throw jerkbaits with it also
@hook2cook has a surf perch bag as well. Thanks for the content, PK!
Also, does anyone know what the black substance is? I was catching perch at Sunset last year and all the Perch and this as well.
