Purpose: While working in your Ableton session you may want to incorporate the workflow of the Roland SP-404 MK 2.

I confirmed today after uninstalling and reinstalling the updated app that this also WORKS in Windows PC's as well- and NOT only in Ableton, ANY DAW that supports VST3. I tested it in Reason 12.6 to test out their new vst3 support and it works. In Windows it will be intalled into: Local Drive(C)>Program Files>Common Files>VST3>Roland.
Yep!!! My weapon of choice is Ableton so my videos use Ableton. 9 times out of 10 the same concepts work with other DAWS and platforms just may use different key combinations. Thanks for posting this we are here to help each other.💪🏾🙏🏾💯

So I’m using fl studio on Mac and it pops up AU and sounds distorted how do i fix this

You can also drop and drag your Ableton recordings to sp404 with the vst plugin. Did it last night and it worked perfectly

@@bassrobotics i dragged my recordings track by track to a clear pad. Only thing to note was that it had to be about 8 bars and consolidated ctrl j. I was recording audio from my MPC to Ableton and yeah worked brilliantly transferring to sp404
@@bassrobotics not bounced. Just a working wav file from session view (what you were doing in this video). Again it had an error if it was too long needed to be consolidated (Ctrl j) love your videos

What were the Ableton preference settings?
Preferences shouldn’t matter, just select the SP as your input, then record. Ableton already knows what your trying to do because your using the plug-in.
I found how it works a while ago and then forgot that it's possible at all. Kept using as audio interface. Thanks

I’m sorry to ask but I tried this only using the usbc cord connected and I could not get it to work like your video shows. What did you have selected in the audio preferences section or did it work because you have the sp-404mkII plugged into a audio interface with actual midi attachments / line in and out plugs. I appreciate the help.
Im using a third party app called Blackhole as a multi-output device on a mac. Are you using a Mac? If you don't need multiple devices just select your SP-404 as an in on an audio track and do it that way. Works the same way.

Important question : does it do total recall , meaning thta the session saved in live recall all setting of the unit via the plugin ?

There’s a problem with this - the sp seems to get caught in a feedback loop. At minute 02:11 you can see there’s still audio coming into track 5. This only stops when you turn off the external instrument in ableton - is there a solution to this?
Turn off EXT on the SP.

I'm having issues with this, I've made sure that the Ableton's Input Device is not the SP (as advised by the 404MK2 VST) and output device is set to the SP, however when I open the 404MK2 VST in Ableton, I'm not seeing the green audio monitor go up whenever I play anything from my SP. Any advice on this would help out ton! I'm eager to get back into making beats consistently!
Tell me exactly what your set-up and settings are.

Selected Audio Tracks are armed to record or set to All Ins.
SP404-MK2 settings: Routing is set to Mix, USB Line is set to "Mix Out" (doesn't work if LINE IN works either) and the Ext Source button is not enabled (doesn't work if it's enabled either).
I've also tried the AU and VST3 version and both don't work.
Is it also possible to achieve the method of sending SP audio to Ableton without the VST too? Thanks for the help.
Ok. You want me to do a vid on it? You most likely have a setting off. It takes practice, a lot of silly settings.

Hey bossman, i need some help. SP is connected to a custom PC via USB-C.
Current Ableton Live 12 settings:
Audio Device: Universal Audio Volt 476
No Input or Output configuration
Selected Audio Tracks are armed to record or set to All Ins.
Midi is set with all the settings on the SP with the MPE included as a input for midi
SP404-MK2 settings: Routing is set to Mix, USB Line is set to "Mix Out" (doesn't work if LINE IN works either) and the Ext Source button is not enabled (doesn't work if it's enabled either).
I've also tried the AU and VST3 version and both don't work.

Lol… True but you don’t need to. You can just export the project files already tracked out. Drag it right into Ableton.

in fl it doesnt appear has a vst for the mixer, only has an instrument... :/~
Really? I don't use FL but don't even use the VST then. Are you just trying to dump your projects into FL?
@@bassrobotics yhea i out the projects on FL, but to use them Mak directly,with the ext button, it gives all this feedback, i dont really get why. And ive tryed all the drivers, all do the same 🤐

I’m sure there is. I don’t use it that way so I can’t tell you how. Maybe some one will chime in on the comments. I’ll give it a shot and post my findings.

It seems to be. I honestly haven’t really used it for sample transfers or editing, mainly using it just for ableton.

@@bassrobotics yea too much mouth noise, you’ve got a great voice, great content but as someone who records dialogue for film and tv I’d be trying to back you off the mic to avoid the trebly mouth noises (I can hear you opening your mouth before speaking) but if intentional you do you brother 😁👍
