yo you do NOT need to record your samples inside the SP404SX .. you can use it as a thru-effects processor. Just hook up like you normally would (404 Line Out--> Audio Interface Line In / Audio Interface Line Out --> 404 Line In . Select your audio interface as your default device in windows, and in your daw. Now use the 404's Headphone jack for your headphones (or run it to your monitors). Turn "EXT SOURCE" on on your 404. You can now play samples in your DAW using your midi controller, and you can use/hear the FX applied by the SP-404 in real time, and record them inside your DAW. No need to record within sp404 at all.
you can use the headphone jack like you're doing but that would only let you record in mono, if your audio interface has 2 stereo outs like ones that can set up 2 pairs of speakers then you can run one set to the sp and then you can get a stereo recording. You can do it with one out as well, you would just have to listen through the headphones on your interface and the one out you have going to your speakers would go to the sp Reply
@@theycallmeheat Thank you very much!!! You are saving my life! I have a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 and I 've never thought of the headphones output as a regular stereo output!!!!

Hey bro. I have sp404sx rca from out to quater inch into fast track solo interface into protools i then open up an audio track to record but no audio comes through
Yo I have the same setup but in stead of using apollo twin's phones output, I use two RCA to quarter inch cables plugged in LINE output 3/4. However mine doesn't work right. When EXT SOURCE is lit and I press pad, the sound is very low in volume and distorted with a hipitched sound, if I turn up the input lvl pass to a certain level, the high pitched noise gets extremely loud. Do you think its the problem of my sp404 or the cable?
Basically without the EXT SOURCE is lit, I have the input level to the max(the right spot without clipping), once I press the EXT SOURCE, the super high pitched noise is blowing my brain out
Make sure +48 switch is not on. Try with your Red RCA going to Line In on Channel 1 on your Audio Interface, and Black RCA going to Channel 2. It really doesn’t matter if you have both right and left inputs, try unplugging one and listening, then try the other. It would work just as well having Mono input from just one RCA. Try adjusting the Gains on your Audio Interface. I think there is a point where if I turn my gain up too loud the same thing happens. Set all your gains around 50%. Use the Audio Interface as your main source in your operating system, and in your DAW. Use the headphone jack on your audio interface for your headphones. You should be able to hear all the sounds from your daw, but it will be going through the sp-404, and the sound from the sp-404 will be picked up by your DAW. Lmk how this works out for you. Just keep trying different things, it definitely is possible there is just a lot of variables. It could be your cables (that’s why i suggested trying one side and then the other also, it might just be one side is messed up). Try and troubleshoot and isolate the issue by changing 1 thing at a time and then checking until you figure out what is wrong.
Yo thanks for the video Bro! Is there anyway i can get this to work with my maschine mk 3? i love the sampling workflow with the mk 3 and would just like to use the sp for effects and record it into the maschine daw . I have a scarlett 2i2 and havent been able to figure it out. Is it only possible to record the sp effects with just the sp going into the interface or can i use the mk3 to chop the samples send it to the sp and record the effects into the daw in this way?
when you record into the SP with maschine you should have your audio interface in the maschine software set as maschine mk3 in order to go back into the maschine from the sp, set the interface to your scarlett 2i2 and it should work. It took me so long to figure this out.
I've been trying to figure this out too.. there are a couple other vids that show how to do this using the external effect rack, however I keep getting major feedback. havent been able to figure it out.
yes. don't know if it works on FL, but ableton you just have to use and external audio effect and configure the audio from/to options so all the sp 404 fxs goes right into the track channel or group/master, etc
I have the apollo twin duo so the output line from the sp404 goes into the the input lines in the apollo and the headphone line from the apollo would go into the input into the sp404 ?

@@BoeSharp no clue sorry
Aaron if you got an Instagram contact me @niggasreallyshook , I have questions about the sp404sx
you got a solution for dat feedback tho Aaron?
Thank you! I had my headphones plugged into my audio interface, and was getting tons of feedback. Plugged them into the 404sx, and problem solved!
i wonder if its possible to add effect directly to a playing loop or in a project loop on an mkII like an external effector tool

can you upload a video on configuring it with fl studio? i have all the right cables but don't know how to route it correctly in the audio settings.
Mute your Daw Inputs and monitor through the SP404 headphone jacks for live fx, no need to resample.

Word! Can’t wait to order my sp404.
Sounds great. Still may be less tedious to do in wavelab or some mastering plugins used for sound design.
Video of the year man I swear 🤦🏿♂️🙏🏿🤞🏿💯💯💯💯💯💯
Thank you my friend!!
Is this output from the interface to the RCA , stereo ??? If it is you are my savior!
Yep. You have stereo out and stereo in. You can run mono using the front input of the SP.

Lover he video but would I need extra outputs I only have two outs for my monitors ? Focusrite 2i2
Nope. You can use the headphone out into the SP.
Same with 2i4? I’m having a hard ass time I just want to use the 404 for effects but idk what I’m doing wrong

I'm just sick of using SliceX in FL Studio. I want the real thing
use FL Slicer, or invest in Serato Sample.
SliceX gives errors when cloning. So chop in Edison and drag it onto Slicer. And if you want like slow attack on 1 chop you can do that in Piano roll
And Love Philter is better than SliceX build in filters.
There has to be a plug-in that can do the SP404 sound.
Hahahahahaha
@@REAL6 I use the Koala Efx with LoFly Dirt. It works for me.
