Happy Thursday!! Hope you all enjoy this one :)
Abandon Comfort have a great day!
Btw.. what is that theme song at the end of your videos? Love It!
Great tour of the island. I love what you guys are up too. Have you tried blue and green water filters on your go pro, it will help with the vividness of the colors while diving. Which model are you using hero4?
Abandon Comfort definitely enjoyed it! So happy and even proud for you guys! Fair winds and following seas for your journey. Thank you, very much, for posting!
This is so good to see , awesome guy's . have fun , and thanks for sharing the video , have a great time.💞⛵💞🐕🥇
9:05 I sadly didn’t make it to this part of the refuge but may I just say the water quality that day was just remarkable, amazing quality, clarity and color. Still can’t believe it’s in the US and even Florida to be honest the fact that a 22 year old dog is buried there and has his on tombstone drives home how unique this place is.
Aloha Ryan and Kelsey, came across your video and thought I would let you know I used to be stationed on loggerhead key back in 1985 while i was in the Coast Guard and lived on the island for a year. Yes, Wally was a great dog and friend. Since seeing your video it has given me the idea to write a book about Wally and all our adventures while i was there as I also have a few pictures of him as well. Great job on your videos.
Kelsey, wow!! 🔥
Roo has grown up so much! Gorgeous video as always!
0:55 I’ve snorkeled there!
Binging and like Kramer said, “I’m out here and luvin it!” Thanks
Always makes my Thursday better to see you guys. 😁🌴🌴
Smashing as always .... bad luck on the burns but totally worth it. Lovin' the 1.5 horses of brutal earth saving quiet!
You'd think so but lithium processing is an incredibly dirty process (in addition to the large amounts of nickel and cobalt also used in battery technology). Therefore its typically mined in Australia (and now Afghanistan since the US invaded and secured mineral rights via military occupation). Its then shipped (via 2 stroke diesel container ship) to China b/c of the lax controls on industry there. Nobody cares how dirty it is to refine since China tends to not mind when holding ponds holding the chemical slurry used to leech the lithium from the ore invariably lose their waste into the nearby waterway. Its then shipped again to be made into cells, then shipped yet again for assembly and then one more time for distribution (all via diesel). While impossible to actually measure, I imagine one could use their current petrol outboard for the rest of their cruising life and emit less pollution than the amount they contributed to the day they decide to "go green" and buy an electric. That said they are pretty awesome in regards to weight and maintenance. Can't beat an electric there.
@@tasiabrooks3853 Please, let's not darken utopia with facts.
I’ve been anxiously waiting for the next video. I’ve been searching for boats all over and I needed my AC fix to keep me going😀
great video guys! 26 is a golden age good to see you are making the most of it
That motor scream though...
That brought back some good memories when I trailered my motorcycle down to Key West and went diving and took the ferry tide to the Tourtougus and did some snorkeling like you guys did, great job !
Such a great snorkeling adventure. Seeing that Man of War was interesting. At first I though it was a plastic bag. Good thing you were not snorkeling in the waters and ran across it.
Good on you guys. It's great to see you exploring and starting to relax into the sailing life ...
How come you guy's don't wear hats in the sun. Here in South Africa we wear hats to protect our faces and heads.
Nice! Your Thursday is my Friday. 😉 As always, thanks for sharing! 😍⛵⛵⛵⛵⛵⛵⛵⛵😊👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Nice 👍🏽
Hey guys...Perfect timing. Just sitting here with my grand-dogs shopping for boats on yacht world... 🐶😄⛵️
Woot! What boats are you searching for?! The boat hunt is one of the best parts :)
Lol, me too! Favorite before bed activity! Hope you catch a beauty!
ALWAYS wear a UV shirt when snorkeling. A lesson I learned in St. John's resulting in a painful burn and a snorkeling vest strap mark on my lower back for about 4 years.
Thanks for the great experience it almost feels like I am there with you
Nice filming under water. I look forward to every other Thursday to see what you three have been up to.
This makes me want to work hard for a couple of years and then go sailing - great episode
Just found your channel a few days ago while searching you tube.i love what you guys are doing.iam at the episode were you just christened the boat...I live in St. Petersburg September to June then i go to south jersey shore June to sep..I no Your husband said he was from south Jersey..that’s were I grew up..anyway love your channel keep on living the dream...T.Gunz
Barracudas like shiny objects. Watch those earrings, Kelsey!
Nice waters. If you get up near Key Largo you should anchor near John Pennekamp State Park. Nice coral diving and the statue of Christ underwater. Hint - ALWAY wear a t-shirt when snorkeling in Florida. I learned that the hard way. That dingy motor is quite impressive. Love that it is so light.
i have a gen 3 porta bote and i love the thing. still on the hunt for the sailboat though. found a few promising leads
This video was great, keep them coming.
Yes an AC Crew Video. The week has been saved!! 😀
:-) Hope you enjoy it!!!
Just a quick note: the oxybenzone in typical sunscreen is an endocrine disrupter that prevents coral reproduction. Try to use sunscreen with zinc oxide instead as the active ingredient!
Drew Maglio, We actually do use sunscreen that is paraben free, oil free, cruelty-free, Oxybenzone and Octinoxate free and is also 100% vegan and organic. What we put on our skin and how it affects the environment is very important to us.
Abandon Comfort Good for you guys! Thanks for sharing videos of your adventures!
Such an amazing place and adventure
Those cone's look great !
That electric outboard is louder than I thought it would be.
Very good video, interesting, good pacing, nice editing and entertaining.
Been cool trip to Dry Tortugas.
freediving topics are welcome. Cool.
Hope the weather hasn't affected ya'lls travels too much, it's just now coming through TN. Happy sailing! Hopefully I get to take the same journey as yall have
like your videos , good job ...
Thanks, great to see you guys snorkeling in some beautiful healthy coral. Looks like fun! Now that you are underway are you enjoying Lucy’s size more or less than you thought you might?
great as always, y'all! :D
Coast Guard Apprentice William Graves lost his live due to a chain saw accident. Was stuck in the leg and cut his femoral artery. Died next to the pier with his dog but his side. We anchored just off the pier that evening. The dog, Wally, lived on the island (key) with the Coast Guard personal stationed there manning he lighthouse. Yes the dog would bark, but was friendly, loved people and the little treats he wasn’t supposed to get.
I'm sad that the things that appear to be happening is about two months before the videos come out. I'm still enjoying the content though, and glad you guys are finally sailing.
Another adventure documented. Thumbs up! You're turned 27? I remember that! It was like 400 years ago, I think.....(may be off by a couple).
Nice work guys! Anything you want to share about how the boat is treating you now that your actually cruising? I’d love to hear how your feeling actually cruising off shore vs sitting at the marina..Any surprises or revelation’s yet? Hows the food at the floating cafe? Lol thanks for keeping the content flowing!
Now I love electric, but it sounds horrible on the video. Is it that bad in person or does the mic just pic the high frequency better?
They are really that bad in person, unfortunately.
I was pretty into the Torquido, but after hearing the squeal of your motor? I’m going for a nice carbon footprint Mercury outboard and a couple spare gas cans on the stern pulpit. Still like the Foldaboat with some reinforcements
Binge watched them all this weekend. :) Thanks for sharing your journey.
Perhaps it's tiresome hearing advice from your subscribers, but please be careful in that portaboat. We had folks drown on reservoir up hear in Montana when the wind picked up and they had a similar craft. I'm not a fearful person (commercial fished the Pacific for 5 summers). Just don't count on that thing to stay empty of water if the wind suddenly comes up.
Would love to be living your dream -- and thanks to your sharing I sort of am! Keep dreaming big!
You would probably get a lot more views if Kelsey went snorkeling more often.
woot woot
Mr. First!
What did you do with the pup when you went snorkeling?
Glad to see you guys had a good time. Next time you’re snorkeling, spread a little bit of no tear baby soap on the inside of your goggles. This should help keep them from fogging up. Shocked there weren’t many lobsters. Figured it would be infested there!
Thanks for the tour of the Dry Tortugas, I've got a better idea of how much time to spend there now.
Kinda sorta ...
I enjoy the channel, me and my girlfriend are inspired. We have met with a broker and are currently looking at boats. Hopefully I can follow your guys lead.
The thing you seen floating in the ocean was a Portuguese man o' war
From what I remember reading about those, you do NOT want to mess with them.
Could you show how you breakout and stow the porta bote when at anchor? Much appreciated! Fair winds and following seas from the Chesapeake Bay!
After diving Provodentialus and Cozumel, I can tell all of you this:
No camera will EVER do enough justice for the Brilliant Colors!
Agreed. We don't have the best underwater camera gear but it's on the list. Just need to replace the stolen drone first!
Abandon Comfort
Your video was great! Its just the millions of colors are almost incomprehensible.
The right filter will help a lot, and you can get filters for your GoPro.
Who else lives in the middle of nowhere and really love's the sea i hope I can do this one day
Should be nice if yous go to Caribbean island's than go to Brazil visit Fernando de Noronha, is one of the most beautiful places on Earth than go to Rio de janeiro in Angra dos Reis there is more than 360 island's, one for each day of the year kk
I m Brasilian and know that these places are magic.
Than maybe yous can try to visit Antártida, I don't know if is allow, but Ushuaia Patagônia some people's say that is beautiful.
One other comment: I kinda doubt a 1-1/2 HP dinghy motor will cut it in most circumstances. The Sailing Uma crew have the same dinghy, and in one of their videos they struggle to make headway against a river current using a more powerful motor - I think it was 4 HP.
Thanks guys great video the electric outboard held up well, how do you recharge? is this with solar or from the engine when motoring? Had a freind how had a tinker inflatable dinghy, this comes with a mast and sails so you can also sail the dinghy. Very cool also good for a trip like this as you can always get back without a long row!
Was seriously considering an electric outboard - but after hearing the racket yours produces, I am not so sure now.
In case ur not aware ... when snorkeling or just being in the water and u happen apon a jellyfish, fear not. Just steer clear of the long hair-like parts underneath or u can grab them from top squishy part and fling them out of way. They do cause severe pain if stung because those hairs just cling to u everywhere. No need to fear man'o war either, like one floating in vid, u can swim all around them but def do not touch those and have a heathy respect for them. Jellyfish sting will ruin ur dive ... man'o war will ruin ur day!
Where does your dog do his business onboard?
Whatcha doing with them bricks?
I think you were looking at that bubble floaty thing and not knowing what it was...Portuguese man of war, kinda a small one, but super capable of killing you.
Allyn Onderdonk you are correct however it is very unlikely you would die if you were to get stung.
Yup. Gonna hurt like hell if you get stung, but not likely to kill you.
Hurts like hell. You'll probably wish you died at some point before it started getting better. Stay clear.
Kids can die if stung...adults maybe not unless it was a big one or you have an allergy. Read citation 21 on Wikipedia regarding death. The big ones can pack such a punch that many people have died from their sting. Read to the end of the Venom section on Wikipedia.
Just a quick tip, remove your shiny ear rings when snorkelling as Barracoota and Spanish Mackrel love eating shiny flashing things with their teeth!
You really need a better dinghy. I run a AB rib with a euro helm and 25hp yami. Highly recommended. You will realize how important a good dinghy is the more you cruise. Dry Tortugas is one of our favorite places.
Oh no! What did the poor dog do to require a leash? Do you guys have plans to visit Port Royal in Jamaica? That would be a cool place to make a diving video on the ruins underwater. These last 2 videos you made are just the kind of sailing videos I like. I like to see the diving and the historic sites and also natural sites of interest like waterfalls and jungles. You need to get a drone. And I don't think I could possibly get enough of Kelsey in a bikini. Some gentle - >>gentle
If you don't have a time constraint, no need rush through, right? I aspire to have no time constraints. :)
What do you do with the Dog Shit? I have a pretty good guess...
All the was over and back on one battery.?
What are your plans for Hurricane Season?
Are you SCUBA certified or do you have plans to do SCUBA?
Doesn't look like you explored much of little Africa in the video? There should be much higher live coral cover.
Am sure you two are aware but I will caution you anyway just in case...Barricudas are very excitable...and they have been known to attack if you have anything shiny on you while you are diving ... a flash of light will set them off...use caution...(or a fishing rod...they kick serious butt when hooked LOL...Great videos...can't wait for the Cuba excursion.
A 22 year old dog ? never heard of that long a run... must be something to do with the salt or the sun : ]
Second
Weak Uncle Scott - WEAK
Coulda been 10th....
why not take the big boat then doggy can go with
It wasn't a space issue, dogs aren't allowed on Loggerhead Key, pets are only allowed on Garden Key. It also would have been too hot and challenging to snorkel with him. :)
What is the water temp in an area like that?
AmanOU2be warm
Are you sure that outboard doesn't need some lube? It sounds absolutely terrible...
Thanks for the video guys - always look forward to your new stuff. Some armchair quarterback advice: I think you guys are squandering your most marketable assets - yourselves. I think part of the reason Delos and La Vagabond are so huge is because the story is about them, the travel/destinations are just context for their personal story. Also, you guys are hot and in the tropics - put some more skin in the b-roll and watch the coffers fill up!
Well I don't know about the last part of your advice, but I totally agree that AC should focus more on themselves and sailing and (this really frustrates me) reduce the long pieces with the fancy music - sorry guys, but I always fast forward through that when it gets too long and boring.
Appreciate the armchair awareness but something pretty much all of our viewers get wrong is we aren’t doing this to become the next SLV or Delos. The way we measure our success of the channel is how many people message or email us saying they’re pursuing their dreams now.
Awesome KPI and big ups for keeping inspiration your priority! I'd argue my suggestions would help towards your goals too but in the end, you're on the boat and I'm on the couch. For what it's worth, your videos are part of the reason I bought a big Ford Transit a few months ago and am building it into an adventure mobile to tour the US - just had 600ah of lithium delivered!
Ryan Hunter so awesome!! 600ah for your house bank I’m assuming? We loved our free campsite tour of the US. Be sure to check out Glacier & Crater Lake.
Abandon Comfort yup! going small and going now has never been my MO but the idea behind the huge house bank is to be able to self-contained (even have an RO system to make potable water) so I’m all about the free campsite trip. I’ll be fully electric (no propane) and have gone pretty far down that rabbit hole so let me know if I can help answer any questions if/when you decide to go that route. I got my battery from a manufacturer in FL I’d highly recommend if you want their info.
7:45 portuguese man o war!!! for heaven´s sake, stay clear of it! the pain of pains is the least it could earn you touching it or its almost invisible up to a hundred feet tentacles, but it could just as well kill you. lesson 1: if something in the sea looks like an unprotected lump of meat, no teeth, no stings, it is at least painfull if not lethal to touch it - otherwise it would have been eaten long ago.
you seem a little bit unhappy, to be honest... am sure there are many ups & downs...
ADOPT DON'T SHOP!!!!!! Hypocrites! "Consume less"...but support needles breeding of dogs when millions need home! SHAME ON YOU! Unsubscribing!!!
LAConFab Management Bye!
You can say that again!
