Great review Pete, comprehensive and no messing around.... The higher power useage is what has been making me think twice about Waeco fridges in favour of Engel. I guess if you have a dual battery system that's up to the task then it shouldn't really be a problem. So close to a thousand subs too, keep up the good work :)
Hey steve thanks so much mate. Yeh without dual batts it would be a bit shitty, luckily most of the time i am moving spots so the car is never sitting around too long. Id say it would last approx two to three days before the isolator kicks in.
Another good video. Yup! I got the CFX65, had it for 4 years with no dramas. Worth it’s weight in gold I reckon. I’m not saying it’s the best fridge in the world but but it’s been bloody good & reliable, what more can you ask for? 👍🏻
Yep exactly well said. Cant ask for more if your food and beers are cold! Wow 4 years thats great to know. Be good to know if we can get 20 odd years out of these like some engles i have heard of lol. Seems to be going strong so why not! Quick question, what do you reckon of the perfect temp for freezer and fridge? Interesting to know what other people set theirs at? Thanks mate!
WA Camping Adventures . Mines just a fridge it’s not the DZ, never really had a need for a freezer. My fridge is set at 1 degree. Next on the shopping list is a Travel Buddy 12v oven.
retry tobuy yeh excellent mate one degree is perfect. Need to give our travel buddy another year or so of use to review it. God they seem to be awesome though. Great idea!
WA Camping Adventures . I’m not sure if you’ve been to the Vic High Country in winter but I reckon nice hot pies would go down a real treat along with a beer or 20 lol.
The vic high country is on my bucket list so one day i will make sure that i get up there to enjoy the pies and 20 beers! You sound like the type of bloke id go camping with! Thanks always for your feedback and kind words mate!
Damn, reviews like this make wanting to buy an Engel dual zone hard. Engel has a fan that pushes cold air from the freezer to power the fridge, so the fridge has less temperature control over a waeco. The waeco is looking like a good buy, I can't seem to find any problems with dometic and their compressors. Keep up the reviews mate, I appreciate your honesty
We've all seen from your videos that they can take a beating ahaha How are all your subscribers asking questions for your reviews like the travel buddy? Have you got an Instagram page?
Hi mate!! Thanks for the great video! I’m really want to buy a fridge like yours, Waeco 65 .Do you think I’ll have problems with the hilux single battery ?
Gday rogerio, thanks for the kind words. I think you will be fine with a single battery, you might just have to set the battery protection settings to high so it will turn off if your battery gets low. Cheers buddy!
Getting better with every vid mate well spoken.one thing to watch out for with the early cf waeco fridge/freezer (not the cfx i believe ) is the poly fuse which is internal and will flash the warning red light when they bugger up. Im pretty sure they have fixed the issue now with a larger one .Just if someone is looking at buying a s/h one like i did in the earlier models
Love the video mate just got one of these.. will mostly be using it for weekenders.. without the freezer divider in, what do you recommend for temperature for just using as fridge out bush for weekend to keep the beers and meat cold?
Great review Pete another quality video. I have the Engel Eclipse, big enough for the two of us, but very light and compact. Unfortunately it’s a fridge or freezer but not both at the same time, and it doesn’t have a digital display. I’ve been thinking of upgrading just don’t see the point of a large heavy Engel for a few more features and interior space. Might need to take a look at the Waeco so I can have both ice cold beer and ice cream at the same time 👍🏽
Lol beer and ice cream matt brilliant mate! Cant go wrong with engels because of their reliability but just the waeco is so bloody light aswell and SO FAR lol has served me well. Thanks for the kind words mate!
well done pete, great information, its not easy to talk at the camera, you do it well
nismo/OFFROAD thanks mate always find it hard to tall to the camera hahaha thanks for the ongoing support bud!

the dual-zone uses twice the power the single zone one uses (1.8A vs 0.7A).
