    How to transfer an existing pattern to a track?

    Great, thank you. But how do we get the patterns into the project so that the chords play with the chosen pattern?

    Thank you for explaining chord pads in Cubase 13. Do you know where to find the "Assign Pad from Midi Input?" It used to be on the function button left of chord pads in Cubase 12. I can't find how to add a midi chord from a piano track onto a new chord pad. That feature seems to be missing along with "Transposing All Pads". Thanks for your help!

    • @musictechtuition
      @musictechtuition  10 місяців тому +1

      HI Russ. Assign from MIDI Input is to the right of the key on the second row of buttons - it looks like a 5-pin MIDI cable. If you look at 0:05 in the video, above the Fmaj7 keypad you can see it there. You can transpose all pads by selecting them all (with the select all that's at the far left of the second row, it's above the Dmin/Bb at 0:05), and then use the up and down transpose buttons (to the right of the Assign from MIDI button) to transpose them all. HTH.

      OMG! Thanks Jay! I was trying to find it everywhere else. Mostly under the Chord Pads Remote Settings button with latch chords (which I'm not exactly sure what that does... or the voicing modifiers stuff.) Thanks again for that and the transpose all Love your deep dives and also purchased several of the BTP videos on earlier versions of Cubase!!! @@musictechtuition

    Maybe it's just me but I am really missing the pad presets from the old version... and by that I mean the basic scale patterns. Maybe I'm missing something but in the new version it is not possible to simply load the basic defaul Major Scale or Pentatonic scale chords.

    • @musictechtuition
      @musictechtuition  10 місяців тому +1

      Yeah.... I agree! I've spent some time this morning looking for them, but I'm pretty sure they are in the "cubase 12 content" file which means you can't just copy them from one version to another. Which is pretty annoying. I'll see if there's a way round it, but at the moment I think it's not easy to do (with a single file movement).

    • @musictechtuition
      @musictechtuition  10 місяців тому +1

      So... you can do it one-by-one, which is a bit of a pain, but it is possible. If you load it in Cubase 12, and then save it as a preset (using the same name, I'd think), then it will be saved as a Chord Pads preset in a file (if you're on Windows it will be under C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Steinberg\Chord Pads) which is then accessible in Cubase 13, and you should be good to go. If you save one from Cubase 12, you can then use transpose all to create the other keys and save them from 13 which will be a little quicker.

      @@musictechtuition Thank you for your reply. I have also arrived at the same solution (after scanning my disk for *.chordpads files) lately and just created my most commonly used presets (Major/Minor/Pentatonic/Blues - yep, I am a guitar player). The default 13's presets seem to be way too fancy for just laying down the core of the track, which is how I like you to start. It's a shame that it is not possible (as far as I can see) to have them all listed in one view though.... it's either factory content or user content in the filter option. Thanks once again for your fantastic content and I am going to grab the book soon.

    • @musictechtuition
      @musictechtuition  10 місяців тому

      @@DebowyMocny I'm seeing both factory and my own when I view the presets in Cubase 13. It's not straightforward to describe, but I'll do a quick video on it to show both what you already know (getting them from 12 to 13) and making sure you can see them all in one view.

      They're in the lower zone. CTRL + ALT + E on windows, COMMAND + OPTION + E on macOS. Then you'll see the lower zone and you can click 'chord pads' and you should be good to go.
