- Tutorial on how to create the animation rig for a semi-trailer truck and how to connect it to follow a ground / terrain plane using Craft Director Studio Plugin
This tutorial is made in Autodesk 3ds Max however the same method applies in Autodesk Maya.

Nice Tutorial 👍👍👍
it would be great if you make a tutorial, on how to get a helicopter animated with Craft Studio ...
Thank you Ali Ali. We do have tutorial with Craft Helicopter. ua-cam.com/video/zt88yw7bEeY/v-deo.html or is it something else you seek?
Craft Animations Thank you very much I try it, the tutorial was made in Maya, I hope I get it.
@@Alibaba_504 Just let us know if you find something unclear and we will help you out.
Thanks for upload ... waiting for more videos..
Glad that you liked. Any specific tutorial you would like to see?
@@craftanimations i would like to knw abt how this apply in a scene..?

@@jithzz440 Ok we understand. We will take your suggestion in to consideration for future tutorials.
@@craftanimations thanks
awesome
hi ) tell me please how i can do "skid brake" only on back wheels? because in default skid brake work on front wheels too...
Unfortunately it does not have support for only locking the rear wheels.
great tutorial... bro, could u pls upload a video abt collision between 2 cars or any multiple vehicles ?.. Thanks in advance
Glad you liked the tutorial and thank you for the suggestion. We will take it in to consideration on future tutorials that we are to make.
exactly what i wanted please add more.
1:dogs x 4 leg animals , 4 leg robot dogs
2: 2 leg dinosaure and dino creatures movements.
3: 2 wheel motobike
4: helicopter
We do not currently have tools for animals. It is something that we would like to have but currently still not planned.
Regarding 2-wheeled motor bike you should check out out tool 2-Wheeler Extended. Tutorial can be found here: ua-cam.com/video/0InWiDWhlE4/v-deo.html and for a Helicopter you are able to find a tutorial here: ua-cam.com/video/zt88yw7bEeY/v-deo.html.
@@craftanimations as a customer am requesting. it is a feature people want. and to you its money so if you can make it work, alot of money for you not from me but all.everybody will buy it
Great Tut!
Is there a way to achieve "Truck cab suspension" with Craft accessory tools?
You can use the SoftMotionCam or MotionFilterCam to achieve this effect. However, please note that you need to cancel out the transitional movements to avoid the cab falling behind.
Nice tut! Which model of truck you used?
What are the top 3 reasons i should animate in 3ds Max and import into UE4 using your plugin as opposed to animating a car directly in UE4?
Hi Scott, 1. The top benefit is to be able to utilize Craft Director Studios realistic movements of the vehicles. 2. The effectiveness of creating and adjusting the animations in a short amount of time, thus being able to deliver faster. 3. The flexibility of the rigs to be adjusted to fit more or less any vehicle. However, it is of course not ideal to need to animate in 3ds Max or Maya and then export to Unreal Engine. We hope to have support for Unreal Engine in a not to distant future so animations can be made directly in Unreal Engine and not need to import/export between programs.
thank you. how do i get this plugin please
Can this work on a SKetchup truck model that is grouped as a whole and imported into 3ds max or must the tyres , truck and trailer all be in individual groups before importing ?
As long as you can export to 3ds max or maya you should have no issues. Wheels, chassis need ot be separated in order to be animated.
hello, how could i bind it to a spline? I´ve watched the spline speed controller tutorial but it doesn't explain how to bind it to a 4wheeler, could you point me to a tutorial please?
Sorry for the late reply. You attach the TargetMesh of the 4-Wheeler Extended to the spline to follow. Then activate the "Autonomous Mode" in the configuration of the 4-Wheeler Extended.
How to export animation to UE4? Alembic cache and FBX aniamtion does not work properly in UE4
For game export in mind it is better to use constraints for position (translation) and orientation (rotation) instead of making the parts children of the rig. Group all high-poly parts that are to be one animation once grouped make your animation.
To export from Maya or 3ds MAX:
1. Select the high-poly model group and go to Game Exporter.
- Maya: File -> Game Exporter
- 3ds Max: File -> Export -> Game Exporter
2. In the Game Exporter go to the Animation Clips tab
3. In the Animation Clips add a Clip, give it a name and set it to the frames you like to get exported for the rig.
4. Make sure that Bake Animation is checked
5. Select a path and Filename and hit Export
Importing in to UE4
1. Once you have exported go to UE4 and create folder where you would like for the animation to be placed drag and drop the exported FBX file in to the folder created.
2. In the FBX Import Options window make sure to check "Import Animations".
3. Hit import and the animation should be in and usable.
Done
We are going to add to the list of tutorials we are to create going forward.
The free 1 week version is causing my 3ds max to crash ? How do I solve this ?
Nice tutorial. Can this plugin work for unreal engine?
It does not work for Unreal engine currently. You would need to create the animation in Maya or 3ds MAX and then export to the Unreal engine.
I try to export it using fox to unreal engine but I’m having trouble remove the body rig which come with craft animation.
Can you make a tutorial how to export it to unreal?
@@aftereffectsnerd4530 You can unplug and remove those help objects, however please make sure to save a copy as unplug will be irreversible.
Hello! How to go reverse with spline?
Hi, It is possible but very hard as the 4-Wheöer Extended easily tries to go around instead. My suggestion is that you use Autonomous mode up until the point you like to reverse and switch over to manual drive and use an input device to go in reverse. Once you are happy you can then go over to use the autonomous mode agin to continue your drive using a spline.
Hello. I'm having a problem. When I export from 3ds max to lumion it still shows the model of trailer or wheel of craft director studio. Can you guide me to fix that error. Thank you very much.
We do not know Lumion but if you, in Lumion, apply an invisible shader in Lumion? Or can meshes be set to hidden, like in unreal engine?
Can I update the binding tutorial for Maya Car Suspension?
We are not sure what you mean. Can you elaborate, thank you?

Can you upload car suspension rigging tutorial for maya?
@@yywing6234 We will add that to our list of tutorials that we would like to create. Thank you for the suggestion.
Can we have an animation rig for Maya please. Thx
This works more or less the same in Maya as in 3ds Max.
Why is my trailer shaking and wheels are not spinning on the trailer
There is a bug with the trailer that it shakes if placed on an uneven ground at start. This should not be the case in Maya anymore. However, 3ds have the same issue still.
How to create a soft tire?
With 4-Wheeler Extended there is a simulation that places the wheels slightly below the ground plane. But if you would need to deform the tyres the simplest would be to use a FFD(Box) per wheel.
1. Create an FFD(Box) from the Create/Space Warps/Geometric/Deformable
2. Place the FFD(Box) and cover the lower part of the tire that is touching the ground.
3. Bind the FFD(Box)’s space warp to the tire
4. Edit the Control Points of the FFD(Box) to compress the wheel
5. Link the FFD(Box) to the wheel center mesh so that it follows the wheel.
6. If you are going over curbs you can always create additional FFD(Box)es, that manipulate the wheels additional.
How to reverse and go forward.?
You use the Gas Pedal (Forw/Backw) input for both forward and backwards. You need to firt make the 4-Wheeler stop in order to get it to in reverse.
