Haiji San is perfect. My heart just crushed when he fell down and crashed, but then he was just sleeping coz he was too overworked. Haiji is the single mom raising 10 disagreeing teenagers.
No joke I was shaking my monitor and was screaming "no, not our best boy. What's going to happen" when that happening. Also thank you so much for watching
@@RayTheOtaku i honest to God thought he had a seizure... I was like, no, please no... I don't want this show to be a bucket list type of show... Haiji is like the bro I don't wanna lose. And esp that preview at the end, I thought he was in hospital or something
Just finished the last episode... What a wholesome ending and a true work of art! Had me crying every episode for one reason or another... Not enough people are talking about this show.
Well I made this video before they showed that in the anime. So sadly I couldn't talk about it. But yes that just shows how strong and determined Haiji is.
Haiji is DEFINITELY ultimate best boi He sure an ogre but a kind one although he force them to training each day with some blackmail (poor ouji 🤣🤣🤣) he never yell or angry to them if they make mistake
Haiji is the personification of doing everything right. On paper, he actually forced nine other people into something they were completely unaware of and unwilling to do. Forcing them to move out should they not comply, but he does it in a very healthy way and isn't malicious in the slightest. He encouraged them all to run, which is a healthy sport and gave them all goals, and on top of that - he made them a better person. Nico-senpai would've been a good-for-nothing if not for Haiji giving him something to aim for. Akane/Ouji would've never experienced all of this camaraderie, neither would he have been very healthy in his life, and honestly, this kind of experience is a great one to have in life. And Kakeru would have definitely wasted away after a sad life in his prior school, and then moving on to become a gambling addict, and probably drop out of school eventually, and give up on running too. Kakeru learned to open up, to control his emotions, to smell the roses and take it slow. This show was more than about racing, this show was all ten character's growth as a person. Kakeru learned he can move on, and everytime he was instigated by Sakaki, Haiji and Shindo, or any of the cast would help him resolve it amicably, without insults. Without being rude, without the need for violence. I watched this right after Haikyuu!! and although I'll admit Haikyuu!! is better overall, this anime was more of an emotional journey than hype, or intense action. It was a story of self discovery in the long run. I feel like the racing portions in this show are very minor, most of the runs are the runners flashbacks, thoughts and backstory. There's no real talk about running strategies, how to become a better runner or huge focus on all of that; and I'm entirely okay with it because what they gave us makes up for the lack thereof. Unfortunately, the show has a bittersweet ending.. and was a little rushed, I'd say. The time skip came by really quick and we saw Haiji with a limp.. and will probably limp for the rest of his life because of how harsh the Ekiden was. And as someone with a similar injury, I know how life changing it can be. It will only get worse with age, and Haiji will definitely feel the backlash of pushing that leg too hard. Squatting, sitting too long, even sexual intercourse will cause excruciating pain. The author of this series is usually into darker themes.. and this is one of her more wholesome series, but it still has a dark undertone sometimes, especially with how the Ekiden is a dangerous sport in itself and some of them even risked their lives while doing so. Apart from being into darker themes, the author is actually also into yaoi(Boy's Love), and has confirmed Kakeru and Haiji were originally supposed to be romantically, even sexually related. And with the last episode, we can quite confirm that at least Kakeru feels that way about Haiji. On top of which, while Haiji was explaining what he's been doing lately to the boys after the time skip, Kakeru seems to already know all of it as he didn't express any shock or curiosity while Haiji explained everything to Yuki-senpai and the others. It's all personal interpretation but usually if you're into someone, you pay a lot of attention to things they say, but if you're already dating them and know all these things. You wouldn't be surprised or anything. In the end, Haiji gave a goal for all of them and probably forged a lifelong bond between the ten boys, and given them an amazing memory to tell their friends and kids about some day. After finishing this series, I felt a lot of complex emotions as I feel it ended a little too quickly, and we only just learned about these characters, especially during the Ekiden run where they all have their backstory revealed to us, and then only for it to end there. Which honestly was a bit of a shame, I would love a season two of this anime. Unfortunately, the manga characters look entirely different and I'm uncertain if I could love them the same. Haiji is so damn hot after all in the anime. He is the embodiment of purity, passion and earnesty. He inspires others just by being himself, and doesn't try to be someone he isn't. He puts others above himself, but he places his dream above everything else. That one scene when they won the qualifiers, he put his arms up and looked up to the sky. That was a boy right there, a boy with his simple dream of being able to run in the Hakone Ekiden, a pure triumphant smile with no other intention. And his tears welling up made it even better. His misty, watery eyes after the Prince made his time below 16:30 as well in episode 14 was extremely touching. I feel like every episode of this show was an OVA, a movie, because of how beautiful the art always is, on top of animation. In the training camp where Kakeru told his team mates about his past, the background and river was absolutely stunning, and the OP and EDs were all very well done too. Especially the first ED which was absolutely amazing. Also, the OST was by Yuki Hayashi, who marvellously composed Haikyuu!!'s OST as well. But this show doesn't put the songs to good use unfortunately, with it's IMO best song being "The Black Bullet/黒い弾丸", it was only played once in the entire show and it was right at the end during Kakeru's run at the Ekiden. I feel like the music directing could've been better for sure. The scenes were great and well directed, but due to the music not being played at the right places, I found myself not crying as much as I did when I watched Haikyuu!! or other anime with similar inspiring/touching scenes. STILL I enjoyed this series so much and will rewatch it a lot I'm sure. Kiyose is SOOO hot, probably one of the hottest male protagonists in any anime I've seen. EDIT: ALSO YES! I noticed his dark eyebags too at the end of that episode and was really worried already. The show is REALLY subtle with all of these and I feel only the people who pay a lot of attention to detail are rewarded in this anime. Which is a blessing for some, but a curse for the anime I feel.. as most audience prefer to be spoonfed and led by the nose.
The perfect music, the perfect story, the perfect character development..... Everything was spot on. It didn't have a flaw anywhere . This might be my favourite sports anime followed by Haikyuu......
Sudeep Katakam i second that honestly I still needa watch more sports anime but man I ran thru this show basically in two days everything was basically perfect to me it was well written and super well animated
I can't stress how much i agree with you!! Some people might think that haichi's annoying, but he's not, he's calculative yes, but the fact that he could get 9 people to voluntarily pursue the same goal that he had, just shows how awesome he is as a character, first they might feel forced to do it, but later seeing how earnest haichi was and how despite his seemingly unachievable goal he truly cared for everyone's wellbeing plus how he always used positive reinforcement to coach these newbies about running, they began to do it earnestly too, and they enjoyed it! Seeing haichi's passion spread to others, and seeing their journey to hakone ekiden is really heartwarming, i really got emotionally attached to them haha
The whole cast felt like they were a part of my family in the end, and I love that so much. That an anime could make me fall in love with so many characters is amazing
I'm so happy so see people talk about run with the wind, it deserves literally everything in the world. It's so well done, the plot is absolutely beautiful and well paced, the music is fantastic, the graphics just outright gorgeous, and the characters .... oof, the characters, all 10 of them, and even most side characters are such well rounded characters, they're individually their own person and interesting in their own way with quirks and faults and everything. I can't even begin to describe how this anime is one of the best out there in my opinion

I also cried during the last few episodes, ESPECIALLY after it was over. I was a sobbing mess. It was worth it though. I hope it gets more attention too, it is seriously such a beautiful story and deserves so much more love and appreciation than it has gotten
He was great in the final episode, a really likeable character in a very underrated series from the end of last year. As a runner myself I found this anime to be something really great, despite maybe a few things. Great video
@@RayTheOtaku An injury that held him back for so long, he pushed it to the end for the sake of the team. But I suppose if an anime leaves you with questions that's always a good thing
Haiji😍🖤 I loved it when Prince told Haiji that he always loved the main characters in the mangas, but always really liked the one who lead them too😭🙏🏼🖤 BECAUSE WE DO TOO😍
Haiji is the absolute best! I'm so sad this anime doesn't get enough recognition, it's absolutely beautiful. I was skeptical at first but I'm so glad I tried it, people don't know what they're missing. It's one of the best I've ever seen and everything is accomplished so realistically. Run with the Wind will always be one of my all time favorites. I am so happy I found others who think so too. THE MOUNTAINS OF HAKONE ARE THE STEEPEST IN THE WORLD!😁❤🏃 Edit: Thanks for the heart and comment!😄
Haiji is the person we all need in our lives to keep going, he always teaches us to never give up in our dreams and there’s no such thing like an impossible task!!
You couldn't have said anything better. Took the words right out of my mouth. Great character analysis, Haiji definitely deserves to be called one of the most well done characters if not during during the year Run with the Wind came out, but of all time. Also, I feel your frustration about no one talking about this anime. Even now years after it was been complete there still isn't much content discussing how much of a masterpiece this anime is. From the character development, animation, music, relatability, and extremely realistic depictions of everything the characters go through, everything is just perfect and it is the only anime to date I have watched that has made an extreme lasting impression on me. There have been many others that have impacted my life, but nothing in the way that this anime has. I wish more people would give it a chance. I was skeptical myself at first so I understand why someone wouldn't want to watch it, but my gosh, I am so glad that I did end up watching this masterpiece and I hope others give a try in the future.
Thank you so much, I didn't think someone would give me a complement like that, and yes the soundtrack is released, you can buy it on itunes for around $15. Also please leave a like on the video, they are always helpful, and subscribe because this is only the beginning of videos like this.
Omg i thought i was already subscribed ..please keep up the hard work my man such dope content ,i'll be waiting for more and more quality oc like this FIGHTO👊👊👊
i just finished this anime two days ago and after watching clips or some reviews, it still never fails to bring me to tears. i love how they managed to make me so attached to these characters and yes haiji is truly best boi!! i wish i had someone like him in my life edit: also I'd like to note how the soundtracks manages to always tug my heartstrings 😭 this anime is literal perfection
I remember sobbing like a baby when I finished the anime the first time. When I rewatch, I still get a few tears. "Do you like running?", "Tastes like iron" etc. has become a trigger line.
Fully agree. I just finished this anime, and I can't get over how inspiring Haiji is. He's that person we all want to become, and who we can all learn from. I love his determination and the way he can motivate his team mates. He can say moving speeches on the spot. And best of all, he backs up his talk with real action, and is the second fastest runner on the team. He's the definition of a best boy, and he's an anime character but I sincerely want the best for him... Anyway, ty for making this video! It helped me gather my thoughts after that emotional final episode (yes I'm still an emotional wreck though)
I totally agree with that comment about how Haiji makes you want to do something, collect your thoughts, and drag you around. He's the type of person I admire the most.
Just finished the anime and I myself am absolutely starved for content dissecting the anime. Even if I'm late after five years, I just want to let you know that I appreciate this video and your content!!!
I take breaks from watching anime, and when I come back, I always enjoy sports animes the most. Finally got around to watching Run With The Wind and I’ve seen it like 5 times total in the span of a week lol. It’s top 3 for me for sure. The characters are gorgeous and Production I.G. gave the characters more depth than the source material even apparently. So well done.
While i was watching youtube i came across the song reset n i fell in love with the song.... After reading the comment i came to know bout this anime.. N m currently watching this anime n its so good m loving it.. Its quite inspiring too.. ..n i do agree that heiji is one of the best characters...😊
Haiji is the best boyyyyyyyy He is handsome, enthusiastic, and caring. The way he cooks meals for other boys in Chikusei-so and cares for them makes him an oldest brother in the family, and he is definitely mental support for the others. Look at the moment when he fell down, they were all panic and worried. And in the last episode, he was so amazing when he didn't give up even though maybe he couldn't run anymore. Love you Haiji-sannn
im so happy to see this review!!! i've been in love with this anime for more than a yr.. i luv all the characters and everything abt it. haiji hhuhuhu i just so love him and all the other characters
I finished watching the series last night and didn't sleep well. I woke up in the middle of the night and couldn't help but think about Haiji. Technically this series didn't give me the ending I wanted - I always want Haiji to be healthy. I want him to be able to run, run fast, till the end of his life! When I was little, I believed championships, or fulfilling a dream, in this case, was worth sacrificing health for. But now I don't. Haiji loves running and I simply hope that he can always run... ugh I need to persuade myself that Haiji made the decision he didn't regret... My list of favorite series and list of favorite characters didn't change for years, yet this show and Haiji easily made it to the lists.
This anime has inspired me so much. And Haiji is someone who makes everyone comfortable. I just wish someone would support me like that. It's like the journey is important, the result is only the byproduct of it. No matter what the result is as long as you have the determination you can do it. Haiji and Ouiji are my fav characters on the show. Hoping this anime could have more recognition. Because clearly the anime deserved it. It's god-tier indeed.
he’s honestly so inspiring and im so jealous of his drive and determination for running. ive been going through a burn out for track recently and the ending of this anime brought me to tears. i wanna be just like him
just finished the series and now i'm consuming as much Run with the Wind content as possible lmao. such a good video, he's such a well-written character. thanks for giving him attention :""")

This anime is amazing! I hope more people would get the chance to see it. Haiji-san is the ultimate guy✨ his determination, leadership and overall personality is truly aspirational.
I loved your video, thank you so much for sharing your thoughts and putting it all together, i agreed with every point you said and yes haiji will always be best boy Awesome

Yeah you are absolutely right haiji is the bestest boy and I really really agree with you .. I mean i can't get enough of this anime.. I want more.... Though it is not possible...
I loved Haiji because he was relatable to me. Seeing someone else recovering from a knee surgery reminded me that I would eventually recover and be doing what I love again. My teammates are very much like the characters in this anime, so I enjoyed it. Also, if you're tired, take a dang rest. I've puked, passed out, and injured myself. Nothing good comes from overworking.
I tried to put my heart and soul in this video to really show how much I love this character. Also if you're not already subscribe to my channel because I have another Run With The Wind video I plan on making later in the future.
Ok I just found your channel and now I subscribed oh and I found this anime because I also run myself so it kind of gives me hope for my running career I was top 50 in middle school but then got sick in August and only got able to run again in December so I kind of understand how haji feels. Ps. Keep up the great work on your channel.
I've always wanted to hear Toyonaga Toshiyuki's deeper and more serious voice in more anime and hearing him as Haiji just made that dream come true. Best boi
It is one thing to be passionate, but it is another thing to be passionate and be able to inspire others to be as well. Haiji is the kind of leader/friend I hope to have and person I aspire to be. Side note, I think this anime did it's job, it's so inspiring and motivated me to go out and train for my half marathon.
While watching the anime I used to comment all the highlights from each episode to a friend. While talking about it I always referred to Heiji with a nickname that came to my mind as soon as he was introduced to the story; "pedazo de sol" which translated from Spanish to English means "piece of sun" because he was such a sunshine boy, bringing joy and honestly he is hot 😂
I LOVE THIS SHOW I’ve watched it like twice and I can’t wait to buy it and watch dub, I’ve seen a few episodes dub but I wanna wait and I love all the characters especially haiji!!!!! I love the music from the show it makes me very emotional and this show just really teaches you life lessons. This shows great truly beautiful and a master piece 💕💕💕💕✊🏻✊🏻
Even though I watched this yesterday and commenting a year late im just putting it on the table that this beats Haikyuu for me. I usually ran 100m in school and this showed that you dont need to be first. The effort is what matters
I just finished watching this and yes, I love Haiji's characters as well. He really makes everyone inspired without him knowing it.. great.. it made me like run faster too.. lol

10/10 video oh my god someone finally said it ,on a side note did the soundtrack get released ?
Thank you so much, I didn't think someone would give me a complement like that, and yes the soundtrack is released, you can buy it on itunes for around $15. Also please leave a like on the video, they are always helpful, and subscribe because this is only the beginning of videos like this.
Omg i thought i was already subscribed ..please keep up the hard work my man such dope content ,i'll be waiting for more and more quality oc like this
FIGHTO👊👊👊
Followed u on ig and twitter too my man hell yeah let's get this bread
The guys want to be him,
and the girls want to be with him. Haiji is the ultimate best boy!
I think the guys also want to be with him 🙋🏻♀️🙋🏻♂️
i just finished this anime two days ago and after watching clips or some reviews, it still never fails to bring me to tears. i love how they managed to make me so attached to these characters and yes haiji is truly best boi!! i wish i had someone like him in my life
edit: also I'd like to note how the soundtracks manages to always tug my heartstrings 😭 this anime is literal perfection
My all time favorite anime character 🥰
That's one way to find out about an anime. LOL
@@RayTheOtaku yes indeed 😄
Haiji is the best boyyyyyyyy
He is handsome, enthusiastic, and caring.
I Love Haiji❤
I wish I could have someone like him by my side, or I wish I could be like him to someone.
He's so inspiring.
He really is
Thank you so much for just talking about this show, and Haiji especially! They both deserve so much more love and attention!
No problem, it was my pleasure to make this video, and I have a new video about all the other characters coming out soon.
R.T.O. Well you earned my subscirption! 👍👍
I love Haiji so much words simply cannot describe
HAIJI IS THE BEST WAIFU
im so happy to see this review!!! i've been in love with this anime for more than a yr.. i luv all the characters and everything abt it. haiji hhuhuhu i just so love him and all the other characters
It's god-tier indeed.
couldn't say it any better
But the ultimate question remains, does hana like joji or jota? 😩🖐
That's it PERIODT. He's the best boy I cant- 😔😔👌👌
Ahh- I am so in love with Haiji >w
thank you for making the video this character really needed some recognition.Art work music characters all are great in this anime
Couldn't agree more!
Yeah I agree, he is amazing and I hope people can watch this anime and enjoy themselves while watching it

i miss them, especially Haiji. He is the one i wanna be too. I love how he try to find 10 people to hakone. and I cried for the last epsd. I really love him

This anime is amazing! I hope more people would get the chance to see it. Haiji-san is the ultimate guy✨ his determination, leadership and overall personality is truly aspirational.
I'm so fucking in love with Haiji♡♡♡♡
That's why I made this video. He inspired me soooooo much

You perfectly say how much Haiji is a perfect guy. He's so nive, so hardworking, so... EVERYTHING. It's make me cry how this character is wonderful.
Thank you for making this video !
No problem, thank you for enjoying the video
This is the reason why Haiji is my wallpaper on my phone. ❤️
Yeah you are absolutely right haiji is the bestest boy and I really really agree with you .. I mean i can't get enough of this anime.. I want more.... Though it is not possible...
The way you pronounce "R's" is just adorable, subbed.
Bro your voice! I love run with the wind and finally someone is talking about it!!
Are you saying my voice is nice? if so thanks you so much, and I have another video planned about run with the wind. Hope you're excited for that
@@RayTheOtaku Of course your voice is amazing. And another video? Already hit that sub so I'm ready!!
well it's gonna be a while, I'm still in the scripting faze, but I'm hoping to get it out with in the next 2 week
@@RayTheOtaku All good! No pressure on when it's coming, just excited for it!
tbh this anime feels criminally underrated 100% agree with you
I loved Haiji because he was relatable to me.
The soundtracks are next fucking level.
It really is amazing Yuki Hayashi did an amazing job making it, and it's only like $18 on itunes for all 50 songs.
I'm so glad someone is talking about this anime 😭💛
i wish more people did too.
Run with the wind. The best sports anime I've seen.
Thank you for making this video. I personally think Haiji is also the best boy 😭😭😭 he's an awesome character through and through.
No problem, this was something I really wanted to share with as much people as possible
i agree with everything you said!!!!!
I tried to put my heart and soul in this video to really show how much I love this character. Also if you're not already subscribe to my channel because I have another Run With The Wind video I plan on making later in the future.
Ok I just found your channel and now I
subscribed oh and I found this anime because I also run myself so it kind of gives me hope for my running career I was top 50 in middle school but then got sick in August and only got able to run again in December so I kind of understand how haji feels. Ps. Keep up the great work on your channel.
Thank you so much, and hopefully this show got you more excited about running than even before. Keep on fighting!
This is really gonna be my favorite anime huh
good choice
I've always wanted to hear Toyonaga Toshiyuki's deeper and more serious voice in more anime and hearing him as Haiji just made that dream come true. Best boi
It is one thing to be passionate, but it is another thing to be passionate and be able to inspire others to be as well.
Haiji is the kind of leader/friend I hope to have and person I aspire to be.
Side note, I think this anime did it's job, it's so inspiring and motivated me to go out and train for my half marathon.
Boy your choice is really good .. keep it up. We follow you.
Thank you so much 😀
While watching the anime I used to comment all the highlights from each episode to a friend.
What I really want is for a figure to come out for it
R.T.O. Oooooo you replied!! Like a figurine?? Yes I would love that!! Who would you want??
Even though I watched this yesterday and commenting a year late im just putting it on the table that this beats Haikyuu for me. I usually ran 100m in school and this showed that you dont need to be first. The effort is what matters
I just finished watching this and yes, I love Haiji's characters as well. He really makes everyone inspired without him knowing it.. great.. it made me like run faster too.. lol
100% agree little man.
I just need a Haiji in my life 😊❤
Best anime I watched yet so far
Man.... you just answered the question I didn’t know i had. Haiji IS the best and he’s some i want to be beside but can’t just find him. I want to relate but I can’t.
Haiji is the GOAT. That's it.
Nice vid. I am not a fan of sports anime, but I may check this out. On a side note, do you have any good Drama anime recommendations?
It's a really good sports anime. For a drama anime I would say Shouwa Genroku Rakugo Shinjuu
@@RayTheOtaku Ya I heard about that. Well I'll check both out later. Thanks.
Bestest Boy Haiji!!
man I fucking love Haiji
This series inspired me to start running. In my 3 rd month already
That's amazing man. Keep looking forward
Haiji is my husbando. We don't deserve Haiji at all 😂 OMG he is so wholesome. I fell hard in love with him
BEST BOY Indeed ❤️
I love Haiji😍😍😘😘
Agree .. haiji-san perfect man.. i love him and i hope can see he for real life hahaha
I feel how you feel I can never even find one episode on run with the wind it's so sad
I'd say that it's not only the best character of this year but one of the best characters of all times. I do really think so!
hard to argue that
Why this is so underrated?
which episode that kakeru saw haiji scar?

YESSS HAIJI IS BEST BOY , BEST WIFE , BEST HUSBANDO , BEST MENTOR & TOP OFF WITH A SLIGHT SLY PERSONALITY. UWAAA HE HAS ALL THE HUSBANDO QUALITY 😭🥺💓
