- One of Pets less known but I think best records. Not released as a single in the UK which is a shame as I'm sure it would have done at least as well as her others. It's sad that all the 'real' singers seem to have all but disappeared.
I was 17 when this song came out, I'm 73 now and its as amazing as it was back then, absolutely beautiful.
Thumbs Up to the sixties what a magical era
Best ever Petula …🥰🥰
Wow I was only 12 yrs old when this song was playing on the radio on the Cape Flats..Didn't know what it meant but like the tune..Amazing voice
I am 76 years. I love this song right from when Petula sang it the first time
Petula Clark. A REAL singer, one of the best. She's also a gracious, lovely lady.
Shivers down my spine. Just one of many fantastic songs by this beautiful and great singer
BEAUTIFULLY DONE SONG BY PET.
What a voice. What a great performance. Petula at her best.
Petula Clark is THE Greatest Female Vocalist Of ALL TIME.
Music doesn't get any better than this. No matter the song, no matter the venue, no matter the language, Petula Clark does it better than anyone...and this music video of her singing Where Did We Go Wrong proves how very, very talented she was. Amazingly, to this day, Petula Clark is still an active performer...now in her eighties... and sounds as great as ever!!!
She turned 90 in November 2022. LOVE PET.
Still listening in 2022. Classic. Reminds me of my late parents.
Great song by Petula. Her music is still good music to listen
I was about 10 yrs old when my mom gave yard parties. N Whenever I heard this song I tried to learn n sing with her.. Im 65 today n only to find out that I can still listen to this song. Wow.. Thanx utube
Indescribably beautiful and nostalgic
A masterpiece. Such an arrangement and engineering. A masterpiece.
What a amazing song and voice!
This song and music is underrated
This song deserves radio air play. DOWNTOWN is all we hear played. PETULA...is magical.
WOR FM NYC played it in 67..8
Thanks so much for the wonderful comments guys. This does show Pets full range of talent and I am so pleased that it is being appreciated as well as enjoyed.
One of my all time favourites.
Always breaks my heart since our marriage broke down😢
One of the most beautiful songs
This song reminds me of my late brother; so nostalgic. I wish heaven had visiting hours......... Rest in peace Mzangwa
ALWAYS a pleasure to revisit this CLASSIC. Season's greetings to all Petula Clark fans.
Excellent song....as is "I can't remember ever loving you", off the "My Love" album. I love Petula!!!!!!!!
SO DO I iamkat.
I LOVE HER VERY MUCH INDEED.
This song was released as a single in both South Africa and the former Rhodesia where it made it to the top of the charts in 1966.
Glad you can remember
Hauntingly beautiful song, still top of my Spotify playlist
I love 60s ! ❤️
Beautiful music by Petula
Where is she in this world
Her voice is.magic soothing to listen to
One of Petula's best.
It truly is!
Such a voice.
From the 1966 album My Love, one of many great tracks. Could have been a big hit if it had been a single I think. Petula is amazing!
Wow! Awesome song and Petula Clark adds something so special to the song. Love her music.
Sheer auditory bliss! What a gorgeous song and magnificent singer.
Petula Clark is THE Greatest Female Vocalist Of ALL TIME.
The word you use in your superb comment 007esq is one that sums up the MEGASTAR Petula Clark to a tee.
MAGNIFICENT.
Very well put and thank you.
This is just one of "X" number of words to sum up this icon of Showbusiness.
wow this song is so friggen amazing
PROOF (not that it is needed)THAT PETULA CLARK IS WITHOUT ANY DOUBT THE GREATEST FEMALE VOCALIST OF ALL TIME.
What a beautiful song, and in this time of the Covid 19 pandemic, this would be the magical vaccine! Thankyou U TUBE.
Nope. Where we went wrong is with globalism and working closely with China. The Wuhan virus is the result of working with China. Thats where we went wrong
For eternity ...
wow such a beautiful voice !
Petula Clark is THE Greatest Female Vocalist Of ALL TIME.
This L.P. cut form her 1966 MY LOVE (Pye/Warner Bros) album actually reached #1 in Rodesia! They must be serious music lovers there! Petula wrote the lyrics and Tony Hatch composed the music.
Sorry to be such a nerd but it actually made #9 there. Made #7 in South Africa too!
She certainly can. A wonderful singer and much loved.
This brings back memories. Thanks!
m
Most underrated song. A master piece
The same happens to me. I listen to something and something tells me I must listen to so and so because it will compliment what I just enjoyed.
Beautiful powerful voice.
Lovely, thanks for sharing!
Old time favourite.
Such power, such passion. She's like a British Brenda Lee. This song showcases her strengths so brilliantly. It's a pity iTunes doesn't carry it.
It's warming to see you enjoy good music W.
Thanks for the comments.
I have to agree with you Linda, there is a quality about vinyl that is not present on any other media.
in 1968-9, New York City's WOR-FM played this alot as an LP cut!
What to say about Petula Clark ? She is one Of the best singer
Her best record of all hers.
Great!!
One of her very best in a long career... IMHO
Gorse: And your opinion is one that I very much indeed TOTALLY 💯 per cent agree with.
It's a pleasure to correspond with you. I'm also from your parents era and I have to agree that is was a wonderful era for discovery and music.
It's such a shame that we don't have the freedom and choice now that we had then. All the music released now sounds exactly the same and you certainly can't sing along or whistle along with many of them.
Years ago I did put this on a cassette back to back with Joey Heatherton's GONE. Very similar feel, but my girl, Petula, rules !
To say that I love her voice is an understatement
I LOVE PETULA CLARK.
I LOVE the fact that Petula is THE Greatest Female Vocalist Of ALL TIME.
I LOVE PETULA CLARK for her warm heartedness to all her fans who love her just as much as she loves us..
I LOVE the fact that Petula Clark as had one (if not THE) Greatest careers of all time and that her career span is extremely unlikely to ever be equaled.
I LOVE YOU PETULA CLARK.
Nicolas cloete: I totally 💯 per cent agree with every single thing that you have written in your superb comment.
I too love her voice unambiguously and without a doubt Petula is THE Greatest Female Vocalist Of ALL TIME.
No one BUT no one can beat her exquisitely glorious voice.
Petula Clark is THE BEST of the best.
I LOVE THIS SONG
Me too
Charmaine: SO DO I.
VERY MUCH INDEED.
Lovely - still after many years xxx
😘💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕Pétula
What a wonderful song! The notes held firmly, yet soulfully.. Not sure why it gives me the same feeling as listening to Laura Branigan's 'The Power of Love". Thank you for posting.
Magnificent
@victor23rh It's a Pet Clark original, written by Petula and Tony Hatch.
Petula est une méga Star⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Remember from a school😮 case . Always played it on the bubble album
magnifique
That's nice to know. Thanks for that PC1.
She was the British Invasion that preceded the Beatles. As good as she is, Lulu is but a pale imitation. Pity I can’t find this on iTunes. Carry on Pet!
This song is fantastic! What a thrill! It's Petula on her best! Thank you so much for putting it on UA-cam!
Who wrote this song? Who can tell me?
Victor...She did.
HOW IMMENSELY TALENTED IS PETULA CLARK?
Well she wrote this ASTOUNDING song....
WOW!!!!
WHAT A TRUE PHENOMENAL TALENT SHE REALLY IS.
aai man mooi
This song was released as a single by a group called "The Sands Of Time" (also on the PYE label and produced by Tony Hatch) but it did not chart in the UK or the US.
Where did we go wrong
My best ever.lost love
ah the nostalgia
it is a greàt song from Anton spamer
PETULA CLARK is THE Greatest Female Vocalist Of ALL TIME.
After you hear her rendition of this PHNOMINAL song you don't agree then all I can possibly say is I am Very, very, sorry but....
YOUR WRONG.
I would not say it was one of the top flight. Hatch ranks Don't Sleep in the Subway his best. Unsurprisingly, Petula puts I couldn't live without your love at this level.
my goodness what an emotional reading of this song from Petula. However I do think the musical backing on the James Darren version is denser and better, being more along the lines of a Spector production
Still beautiful Song 🌹🌹🌹
Didn't she write this one herself? A shame it isn't more widely known what a gifted song-writer she is. Yes, she owed much of her international success to the perfekt pop confections by Tony Hatch, but her own songs are in another league imo.
What? This wasn't released in the UK? It was one of her bigger hits in South Africa.
Another missed opportunity for Petula to have another Top Ten /Number One hit.
WHY on Earth didn't Pye Records release it???????
The Vogues cut a fine version of this song.
@cytotoxix
You are so right on all counts especially the last one.
Of course you are so correct cytotoxix. Todays music seems to consist of just three bars and as little clothes as possible to take the mind off the poor music content.
Thanks for the comment, plenty of time to views up.
@rbrown540 Thank you!.
This song was on top of the hit parade in South Africa in the mid sixties.
Does anybody know where I can get the lyrics?
Not a British single but it went top ten in South Africa and Zimbabwe.
Rhodesia?
@@thomasrobinson182 Correct.
Usually the album songs not released as singles are known only to people who ownned the album or heard it at a friend's or relative's place more than just a couple of times. The DJs very rarely play them.
MAYBE BOOM Radio will play it as they do play Petula's songs on this station.
It says 1966 on the record.
Eerste keer wat ek hierdie lied gehoor het was na skool toe ek in die Huisgenoot gelees het van Daisy de Melcker. Mooi maar sad herinnering.
Does anyone have the lyrics for this song?
It was tremendously popular in 1966 in South Africa and also Rhodesia, but the lyrics are not even on Pet's web pages.
Petula wrote this with Tony Hatch but was only an album track in most countries and don't think she ever sang it live unless she did in her 1974 tour of South Africa! Not sure she would have even have been aware it was a hit there unless you know different?
Yes, I do have the lyrics
Where Did We Go Wrong - Petula Clark
Where, where did we go wrong, darling?
Where has our love gone?
I don't know, how can I go on, darling?
Where did we go wrong?
Even though deep inside me fire of love still burns
So please return and love me!
Now I'll be brave and strong, darling
But for just how long?
Oh, where did we go wrong?
00:00/02:38
All 4 Nothing ()”
Where did we go wrong?
I should imagine this is a bitch to sing given the range and those sustained low notes. She absolutely nails it.
💯 per cent She does....And then some.
