I don't know if Petula would be considered the greatest female vocalist of all time as, personally, I would think of Karen Carpenter and Judith Durham to be in the same class, but Petula certainly did have her own place in the spotlight. May God bless her.

@@davidberchtold3859 I know that Petula is a very humble lady which is one of the many things that is so endearing and beautiful about Our Special Lady.
I will ALWAYS say that Petula Clark CBE is THE Greatest Female Vocalist Of ALL TIME.
However we all have our own individual musical tastes don't we?
I have heard the other Female Vocalist and most are very, very good.
I also very much appreciate the wonderful talents of both Karen Carpenter and Judy Durham and have their Greatest Hits in my record/CD collection.
However Petula Clark is SO much more than a world class singer.
She is a Performer and Entertainer of the highest calibre.
Petula is a world renowned Movie Star.
Petula is a lso a much Acclaimed Musical Theatre Actress/Performer
Also Petula is a wonderful Songwriter for both herself and other artists.
Yes Petula Clark is a very talented lady indeed.
Petula really is Unmatchable Unsurpassable and Unique.
With a EIGHTY+year career behind her there will never be another artist like Petula Clark.
So I will stand by what I say and let you go to listen to Karen and Judy.
      Thank you for your reply.

@@Stives1979 THANK YOU VERY MUCH INDEED for your wonderful reply.
It is ALWAYS GREAT to meet someone with the same musical taste and knowledge as to know the truth when you hear it.
I am a lifelong Fan of Petula Clark and yes of course I have heard the other female artists and most are very good singers, there is no doubting that WHAT-SO-EVER and I would never say otherwise.
However Petula Clark as something special about her that the others don't.
Having been a star since childhood and continuing on that stardom for over EIGHTY years which is a Unmatchable record no one is likely to beat.
Petula has the most beautiful female voice that I have ever heard, and with her perfect pitch and diction for me she is absolutely supreme.
The Voice,The Hair Styles,The Fashion Petula had it all in the Sixties.
However the best thing for Petula was teaming up with Tony Hatch and Jackie Trent who wrote some of the most unbelievably phenomenal songs that can easily be played today and not feeling "out of place."
Along with Petula's Pop Mega Star status she has also stared in Movie's with some of the biggest and best in the world of world Cinema.
Petula has performed at Las Vagus,Ceasus Palace and The Royal Albert Hall.
And star on the most popular television shows with other world renowned artists like Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra,Sammy Davis Junior,Andy Williams,Perry Como and many more.
Petula has also appeared on stage on her Musical Theatre roles such as The Sound Of Music,Blood Brothers (with David Cassidy) and Sunset Boulevard.
And to top it all she is a accomplished Songwriter.
What an amazing achievement Petula has achieved.
Also what a incredible CV to have.
      * Footnote:
May I PLEASE ask for your adherence to acknowledge that these are my personal thoughts and what I truly believe.
Please may I ask that if your reading this and not a Petula Clark fan that you don't send in comments that are not in Petula's favour.
WE ALL have our musical favourites don't we?
I thank you very much indeed.👍🏼

The music one for me was incredibley easy and I have been a PETULA CLARK fan for my whole life.
Petula's immense Musical talent is on of the many reasons she has had a EIGHTY plus career.
Her crystal clear voice a pinpoint accurate diction is the best I have ever heard.
      This is MY viewpoint.
I am just expressing my admiration of this very special lady.
Of course Petula has her own opinions and being humble would never put herself on a pedestal.
So I'm doing it for her.
I have heard many Female artists including Karen Carpenter whom I have got a lot of recording's of ,and yes she was a super singer but for me, and again I say that this is in my own opinion, Petula Clark CBE will ALWAYS be my Favourite Female Vocalist/ Entertainer as in MY opinion Petula is the BEST.

Charlie Chaplin had to go to a workhouse when he was a child. Imagine a child being punished for his mother's destitution, which itself was mostly caused by having been abandoned by her husband and Charlie's father. In the USA we didn't do much better since we had child labor, but we had the sense to stop eventually. Britain was not even democratic until sometime between the first and second world war. The lower classes couldn't vote and were mostly consigned to poor jobs.

Actually,"Eternally" is a song with music by Charles (Charlie) Chaplin, and words by the English lyricists Geoff Parsons and John Turner. The music was initially composed for Chaplin's film Limelight (1952) and titled "Terry's Theme"; the film won an Oscar for "Best Original Dramatic Score" at the 45th Academy Awards in 1973. As "Terry's Theme", the tune was a charting instrumental hit in 1953 for Frank Chacksfield (UK #2, US #5), Ron Goodwin (UK #3), and Richard Hayman (US #13). As "Eternally", it was recorded by Jimmy Young (UK #8, 1953), Vic Damone (US #12, 1953), Li Xianglan (in Chinese and Japanese), Petula Clark (These Are My Songs, 1967), Bing Crosby (for his radio show), Dinah Shore, Steve Lawrence, Michel Legrand, Jerry Vale, Sarah Vaughan, Roger Whittaker, Engelbert Humperdinck (1973 and 2007), Victor Wood (1971), Amália Rodrigues, John Serry Sr. (Squeeze Play, 1956), among many others. 🤔😔

    This would be a
    great video to
    play for those
    who disparage
    the "British Invasion!" Enjoyed
    this more than
    any of her commercial chart
hits, and just as much as Jerry Vale's immortal interpretation. A great voice like hers would have made her a tremendously successful country singer. Wish she had gone down that avenue once her
initial surge of hits began waning. She will go down as one of the most remarkable
    vocalists of all-time. As
    of March of 2018
Sally Olwen Clark is 85 years
    old. She spends
    time residing in
    her properties in
Geneva, Switzerland, a chalet in the French alps, and
    a pied de terre in
    Chelsea.
    (why do so many
    you tube videos
have the conclusions clipped? Why not
    keep recording
    until the music
    subsides, then
    gently fade away
    the volume?)

Petula Clark and Charlie Chaplin were very good friends.
So much so that Petula used to visit him(and his children)for afternoon tea and to sing songs together on the piano.

      Another infernal
      profane who
cannot express himself without using the vile, hated, low-life, and obscene "F" word, thereby utterly
      destroying the
      relevance of
      your remark.
      Congratulations!

Cmon Horse I mean, Milton is so correct about your swearing. Saying the F word in the comments section is horrifying, especially when admirers of this very talented female singer and actress are posting and sharing deep wondrous thoughts about Petula Clark. There is no place for this vocabulary in this setting. This vocabulary (F word) is lower than where snakes crawl. If this is your normal vocabulary, and have become so used to saying the F word without realizing it, then you should seek help to work to overcome this distressing terminology. What helped me in getting over this same problem, was reading the Christian and Hebrew scriptures and attending a Baptist and Pentecostal Church Services on Sundays and Bible Studies and prayer times during the week. It's getting God's vocabulary into our lives, for He'll never say any swear words.
