If Kenner/Hasbro would re-release EVERY classic figure in their new Retro Collection I would buy them all. I might even buy all of the ships and playsets if they re-released them. I'd love to have a Retro Death Star!

That Luke Stormtrooper was one of those figures I had wished they had made back in 78, so I can still remember how excited I was when I found one when the POTF figures came out. By that time it seemed like fewer retailers carried them as the popularity wasn't there so they were harder to find.

I had the shuttle, y-wing, rebel cruiser carrier, and Han in carbonite. I remember being disappointed with Han because I was expecting the carbonite to be like a case that opened to put him in and it was just plastic you laid over him.

Agree, but I kept the bottom molded film plastic insert which made it sort of a case.

I had the Y-Wing growing up and my favorite thing about it was the port you could put an astromech Droid in...excellent video Junkman. Thank you for sharing your wish list. Have a great day my friend and may the force be with you.

I had a Y-wing also and that was cool. I had an X-wing, but never liked the fixed R2-D2 in the ship. I had Darth Vader's tie fighter and that was it for my ships.

3:59 The Y-wing was the last ship I ever got. My aunt took me to Toys R Us in 1984-85 and I got the Y-wing and a couple action figures don't remember which ones. Even at that time, they were on discount.

Having a brother that played with Star Wars toys together must have been the greatest, especially if you played well together. My brothers were too much older and we didn't play well together either, so I had no "Star Wars buddy" under mine own roof. I can imagine you two could have worked together to at least "have" large items you might have not "qualified for" as a single kid interested in it.
Your descriptions of the era, man alive, I TOTALLY GET YOU. I was a tiny bit older than you, and I have the same take on He-Man. I didn't want any, but had playmates/cousins/neighbors who were into it and I didn't mind playing with them with it. But, I didn't want to divert a single nickel of my parents funds away from Star Wars. But I had a respectful "like" of He-Man, and was happy for it's fans to have it.
And I also totally, totally get you in how much Star Wars stuff that emerged in what I call "the dead time." All it did to me was make me hate having grown up and gotten too old to play with it all. One of the few things that made childhood seem better than growing up was Star Wars toys. I totally envy those friends of mine of equal age that felt "immune to the shame" of being still interested in collecting the stuff "after puberty" (which seems like the cut-off date for toys). I more specifically am jealous of their parents, for not making them feel bad for still wanting it, like mine would, especially older brothers.
But anyway, yes, a LOT of great Star Wars Kenner came out in that dead time.

Since you mentioned it, I quit collecting, with Kenner Super Power figs after I completed the line, then I had my grown up years, wine, women and partying.
In 1992, Batman TAS, brought me back to buying figs to this day.
    Keep having fun Junkman!

I remember getting out of SW around the same time & moving heavy to Transformers/Joe/He Man. I clearly remember walking in a mall toy store, Kay Bee perhaps and seeing Stormtrooper Luke with reduced price hanging on a random place. I thought “they finally made this? Cool” and kept walking. Figures where what back then? About 2 bucks? He was probably on clearance for 75 cents. If only I would have thought ahead.
It didn’t seem like collectibility caught on until the 90s and then it took off. The last wave was truly a cool mix of characters and sad I didn’t get the play value. Imperial Gunner would have been top shelf for my collection

Bad thing about the Y Wing is they never made a Y Wing Pilot. Remember seeing the Luke Stormtrooper in a store at that time but didn't get it. I was out of toys by then, and now I'm kicking myself for not getting it.

Would have loved to have a Y-Wing, it had a place you could actually put an astromech droid in, at that time only R2-D2 and his variants or R5-D4 was available.
I had an X-Wing and I wished it had a slot for R2 or R4 instead of the R2 head that was part of the ship and did the wing gimmick. Would have much rather had a place for a real astromech figure and another separate button for the wings or even just work the wings manually.

Man, looking back I think of just how damn lucky I’d get every so often with vintage kenner stuff. I got the imp shuttle for $5 at a garage sale, and around that same time I got a luke stormie for $2(loose, decent condition) at a flea market. My childhood might’ve had its fair amount of issues, but moments like those finds are like being a treasure hunter reminiscing about the crazy adventures they had. I cherish those memories, a lot of which were spent with my mom when we were on better terms.

I never had a lot of the ships as a kid, but I got to play with them at a friends house. The Y-wing was cool because it had a socket you could actually put R2-D2 in, instead of the fake R@ dome that was a button on the X-wing. And the Imperial shuttle was awesome, but Goddamn, it was heavy for a skinny little 9 year old to pick up and fly around.

I had most of the figures through ESB. By Jedi, I was 16 and aging out from the toys. I would have liked the Vader Star Destroyer set, but I didn't know that existed until I saw it in a collectibles shop in 1999.

7:24 I still hav my original Han in Carbonite, It's slightly strange my toy store had it as it always seemed to sell out of the ones I really wanted. I never had a Stormtrooper or a Gamorrean guard.

Many of my Star Wars toys were from garage sales post 1980. I still have them and wish I hadn't thrown away many of the Kenner toy catologs that I somehow acquired. By 1984 I was out of Star Wars anything until 1992 when I found the Death Star RPG supplement at a Waldens book store (oddly enough, that's one of the few books I purchased brand new, since many of my books that I had as a kid were from the bargain bin.) I do miss that sense of great interest in something, but whenever I watch your ICCC videos I'm very much in my happy place.....😂😂

Growing up my mom with was friends with the mom of a kid I went to school with. They had money and above their garage was a playroom for the kid. He was one grade ahead of me.
He had an entire army of storm troopers in Star Wars toys the likes of which I had never seen as a kid, I only saw once. 😮
I bet he had all these toys

The Imperial Shuttle wasn't in the Return of the Jedi catalog...I never knew about it when I was young. And then you tell us how Luke, Han and Leia could have been in there and I'm like..."Why didn't I ever think of that???" What an amazing ship this was. And it was HUGE!
Shout out to the poor Mountain Dew bottle that got pushed out of frame. RIP.

I had a Y-Wing. It wasn't as cool as you think. None of the parts locked into place, and those support struts that hold on the rear part of the engines always fall off the second you pick it up. I ended up having to use superglue to hold it together.

I actually had most of that stuff as kid. I didn't have the Y-wing, the Skiff or the Shuttle. I almost had a Luke Stormtrooper. My buddy and I were at the beach and looking for stuff to do and found a harware store selling figures. I got Han Carbonite and R2 lightsaber. He got the Luke Stormtrooper. In fall back to school and another buddy recommended Amanaman, so I got him and DS Gunner at the toy store. Got Anakin through the mailaway offer. The rest of the POTF figures waited until I was an adult collector. The only things I didn't know about until I was an adult were Yak Face and all of the crazy vehicles that came out in '85.

I was born in 1979 so most of my toys came from the ROTJ era. I did not know about the vehicles and playsets that had been discontinued in earlier years, such as the landspeeder, droid factory, Death Star playset, Star Destroyer bridge, and others. I would have liked to have gotten some of those toys.

The RC Sand Crawler would be a great piece to have in working condition. Although, if Hasbro re-released it, I bet it’d be at least $100-120+ if you account for inflation. Also, the two headed guy that punches himself from He-Man is Two-Bad, I have him, but don’t have his orange shield he came with as I got him used and don’t think he’s part of the Evil Horde at least in the cartoon anyway, he was one of Skeletor’s henchmen later on in the show.

They did reissue it around the 2012 area as part of the vintage collection. They took out the remote control components and made it a push-toy, and painted the hell out of it to where it's barely recognizable as the same sandcrawler.

Junkman, I remember seeing Han Solo in carbonite at Toys R' Us once. Once. It made such an impression on me that I had would often incase my Han Solo in aluminum foil for an epic rescue. My original Han is so beat up that he's now permanently incased in foil and remains as one of my favorite decorations.

I got the Steve Sansweet book that covered all Star Wars toys from 1978-early 1998, and while I had a catalog from the ISP-6 minirig I had lost, that book reminded me of what I had missed as a kid: that Imperial Gunner and Stormtrooper Luke were ones I wished I had. Also the Vintage Collection Tattooine Skiff is much better than the Kenner version, especially the plank!

I got a Anakin Skywalker figure in a bag of "goodies" at my local Thrift Store just recently. I bought it for the simple fact that also in that bag was a 1978 Boba Fett in great condition!! It also had a 70's Chewbacca and a mid 80's Emperor. Anyway these shown in the vid were cool, and Junkman don't be down on He-Man figures...those too were cool as hell!!

I stayed collecting till the end of the Power of the Force line. I did deviate and collect Gi Joes around late '83 and the majority of '84. Back to the Potf line, only ones I didn't have were Anakin (think he was mail away, not sure if released stateside carded) and of course Yak Face - knew his existence from the planetary maps.) Had all the Potf line ships as well. I think my major fubar was not picking up the Awing. I still remember scoffing because it came in the Droids box instead of the Potf box - stupid crux I had, I know.

I wish I knew about those die cast titanium ships as a kid. I would’ve asked for those as a kid had I known about them. I didn’t have many Star Wars ships of any kind as a kid outside of kids meal toys from Burger King and McDonald’s, and the occasional Star Wars transformer, which I had 2 snowspeeder lukes and a tie bomber. If I wanted to have a Star Wars space battle, I pretended me and my brothers hot wheels and space shuttles were ships, it’s what I had. I probably wouldn’t have bought transformers had I known small toy Star Wars ships existed. Now I own plenty but would’ve liked them as a kid

I had both the Luke in stormtrooper armor and R2. I bought the R2 to replace the one I lost. Eventually I found it so I had two different ones. Most of the other stuff...we all had the one person that had everything. A cousin of mine had almost all of the rest of the stuff on the list. I always tried to just look at them but he was the type that didn't like anyone touching his toys.

Always wanted the Return of The Jedi Sail Skiff since 83 & I haven't collected in over 20 years but I recently acquired The Power of The Force Sail Skiff than the even newer Vintage Collection (Disney's) Sail Skiff.
I still have all of the last 16 Action Figures. I even kept the plastic bubble behind Han Solo in Carbonite. Still have a Y- Wing with the box & inner box, Instruction kept in my Instruction Folder as all of my vehicles.

The 12" line was just starting to creep out in stores, Service Merchandise had a shipment due out later in the week. I got all my $$ and we all rode to the store. My picks were Han/Chewie/Leia/Boba Fett. I got none of them that week. Stormtroopers and C-3PO were abundant. There was one Boba Fett that my friend had dibs on cos his Mom worked at Service Merchandise...and a ESB box with IG-88. I bought it just cos and I never opened it cos I thought it was lame. Several months later I got Han and Chewie..and IG-88 went on a closet shelf.
When I packed up to move to California, the figure came off the shelf. Good thing too. The move was rocky and I lost my best friend in an argument soon after we got there. Ran out of money and went to a toy shop, not expecting to get more than a month's rent and some food. That MIB IG-88 alone paid for TWO months rent AND 2 weeks of groceries.
