@@LilijaTheLancer If you read the Novels it says that Master Chief was horrified and Traumatized by his first Flood encounter, he developed severe mental issues and got emotionless
Wait, so a 21 year old game, one that revolutionized the entire gaming market... And you didn't have the Flood spoiled for you? I...wow. Thats actually impressive. Like I wish I could experience Halo blind once more and fall in love with it, and here you are, living that. Maybe I'm just...old. is 27 old?
LOL i'm honestly surprised as well but i think it's because i was mostly playing animal crossing or fantasy RPGs as a child so i missed any FPS stuff. yeah i feel super fortunate, playing through these games was such a journey and so much fun
The Halo community is really good about protecting this for new fans. Seriously, if you want to find out you can but it's kind of a thing to protect it.
It's too bad you never backtracked to the elevator you initially came in on. I'd have loved to see your reaction to the sudden series of explosions and its broken remains falling down the shaft and the sinking feeling of horror that usually washes over you that first time. That realization of "my way out just blew up. I'm trapped in here. With THEM." And then needing to backtrack and finding the second elevator. I must add, that second elevator ride that takes you deeper makes a much bigger impression when you watch it in the old graphics style because there is SO MUCH alien blood spattered on the walls as you go deeper. First a little, then a little more, then the walls are PAINTED with it.
I watched this live, and it's still just as hilarious in this compilation 🤣 I am glad you and Swhompy got to experience what so many of us Halo heads experienced many moons ago. Halo was definitely a wild ride.
@@HolySilverStrike everyone is very peeved about the graphic switch and it's not like i can go back in time and replay this for the first time in old graphics again lmao, complaining about it does nothing for anyone
@@HolySilverStrikewell, it is a piece of valid criticism either way. Also, how on EARTH did ya manage to run out of ASSAULT RIFFLE ammo constantly is beyond me xD Anyway, very late welcome to Halo
I remember my first time playing this level, realizing with a growing sense of dread that I was no longer going to be just fighting aliens. I was entering a nightmare. The eerie silence of the first part of the level should have been a warning, but the noises of the Flood were so, so much worse. That elevator taking me further down was probably the most disheartening part, especially since now I knew what caused those bloodstains, and I was heading down to try and find my way out
You know how truly good a game is when something that was freaking SCARY 23 years ago is still freaking scary. I dreaded this level so much as a kid, and it's such a textbook case of environmental storytelling.
I LOVED THIS!!! I played through the first time when Xbox released. Being a dude there wasn't a lot of screaming, but there were MANY MANY "HOLY F" and "HOLY ISH" and "WTF!!". I adored both of you ladies' reactions. THIS is what UA-cam was meant to be.
Watching both play, is truly entertaining. It's been a year ago, I hope you got better. If not, here is tips to survive. 1. Try to memorize where you have to go. 2. You have to always be moving, as you play. 3. To avoid them getting back up, shoot their heads and arms. 4. Always reload you weapons, even if you only fired it a few shots. 5. Try not to hold the shooting button. Use short bursts, it will help you to run out of ammo. 6. Use the shrapnel Grande more, and throwing distance. If any of my tips help you, please let me know.
Fun fact: "Going Nowhere Fast" was actually a speedrunning competition Bungie ran soon after the first Halo game came out around 2001, when they'd seen how people were posting and comparing how fast they could complete the levels.
Damn…I played this level back in 2008. Still remember how scary this level was. Plus environmental story telling was something else altogether. You would constantly wonder what the hell happened here.
Yep... this level... where first time players suddenly realize halo is a survival horror game. Been playing this game since i was like 7, and good lord, even over 20 years later the flood still scares the crap out of me. It gets even worse when you delve into the lore behind them and realize how much of an unstoppable eldritch horror the flood really is...
Another fun fact: The game's manual made ZERO mention of the Flood, and Bungie worked hard to make sure none of the game reviews mentioned them either. So the game all of a sudden taking that sharp left turn caught a ton of people unawares, as far as they knew it was just a game about humans vs aliens space opera.
Yeah, every Halo fan's favorite part is the little secret that the game turns into a horror game halfway through with absolutely no warning. I remember turning to my wife her first time hitting this spot and saying "oh did i not mention that halo is secretly a zombie horror game?"
My first time ever playing this i was so freaked out. I managed past the first section somehow. Then the elevator took me down, a human form shot me with a pistol, and i was convinced it was the guy from earlier transformed and it was the last straw i noped and hit the power button
i appreciate you being so normal about my decision to play on the new graphics 😭 people have been so wild about the fact that i only used the old graphics sometimes
@LilijaTheLancer As far as the atmosphere and environment goes, OG graphics are better. But the flood look way more creepy in updated graphics, so it's a mixed bag
bit off toppic here but want to discuss: most people think the human weapons are the best vs flood but i find the nedler quite good if you can get a super combine as i fined it stop the combat forms getting back up, anyone else use this too or just me?
Needler is not good vs flood. It takes too long to combine and it isn't ideal for infection forms. Pistol, shotgun, and plasma pistol are your best weapons against them. The AR is only good below heroic and then it becomes too ammo inefficient
I'm sorry, but were you two so scared that it took you a very long time to figure out that the SHOTGUN was the best weapon for the combat forms of the flood, with the rifle for the infecting forms? You two are the first I've watched that are fighting the flood with a needler. Even when I first encountered the flood and came across a shotgun for the first time, I had a feeling it was there for a reason. And I never, EVER, used the needler to fight the flood. Yes, everyone had different panic reactions upon encountering the flood for the first time (me included), but I don't recall anyone else using a needler to fight them. On the positive side though, your screams made my day. When I first encountered the flood, I was so panicked that I had to restart the game all over again just to make sure that I did not miss a spot. When it led me back to the flood, I realized that it was a horror game and decided to fight it out. I kept pausing so many times just to make sure I got my bearings. And as soon as I got the shotgun and saw how it worked, I gradually began to lose my fear (though Level 7 and Level 9 were both unnerving). That's my own reaction anyway, and I know others had their own. Thanks for posting. Remain blessed!
Back in the day (abt 20 yrs ago), I dreaded that room until I figured out that you can climb & jump up into the gallery, first thing, and then kill off the Flood at leisure, one or a few at a time, as they try to reach you. The combat forms can jump that high, but usually one at a time, two at most. Then it wasn't scary anymore, it was FUN to snipe the combat forms and spray the "Popples". You do want to be sure you start with plenty of ammo before you enter the room. I always placed a 3rd weapon where I could reach it and use the Unlimited Ammo trick, but I don't think that's absolutely necessary. Oh, and I don't know why you lost your pistol, but that's one of the best weapons to use against Flood Combat Forms.
Gamers: “If I shoot you 50 times will you die?” Flood: “It would be extremely painful…” Gamers: “You’re a big guy…” Flood: **stands back up* “For you!”
Three things. 1. Literal definition of spray and pray lol 2. From the shotgun comment pretty funny considering you actually get one shortly after the first few encounters 3. Would love to see some Halo 3 from y'all, it gets so much worse lol Edit: the reason why they get back up is because there are little ones so if you take down one of the big ones one of the little ones will hop into its body and take it over. Keep that in mind as you continue to enjoy this series.
spray and pray is my only strategy for FPS 😂 Halo 3 videos will be out one day, time and motivation permitting (still working on the final part of the Halo 2 videos). we played the entire MCC last year so lots of gameplay to sift through and post
This... this is why i get excited when people who have never played halo, play halo lol.
